  • How did you overclocked the cpu in the bios to get it to run at 4.0 because i have the same settings but different ram Ocz platinum 4GB 1600mhz and my cpu is running at 3.8 but if i go over that the computer always crash

  • it depends on ur cpu stepping and motherboard , most of the 955s are stable up to 3.8 ghz ,but mine is C3 stepping which i think is the best for overclockin.

    (multiplier = 19, Voltage = 1.55)

my ram also is set at 1.95 volts @ 1800 mhz (8-8-8-24)

  • @XtremeGamer73 my 955 only goes to 3.7, i think its my shitty mobo tho.

  • Yea it may help or may not. The big thing with building rigs is seeing what works best for that system. I dont know what your gpu temps are like but i see you have your psu fan side up with the second gpu fan close over it. This might hurt the temps of the gpu. You might want to try and flip the PSU over so the GPU and the PSU are not fighting over air.

  • I thousght of that too thats why i put my antec fan o blow air on both gpu fans, my gpus' temps are around 44 to 46 degrees idle at 30% of my fan speed but when play games it jumps 52 to 54. i always set the speed of the fan ( for my gpu's) to 60 % when im gaming, which is not ad att all for graphic cards .

  • i just got my 955 the other day and loving it, paired with a 4870.

    nice rig overall man, respect.

  • @Emerican727

Nice 955 is beautiful cpu , u should get a hd 4890 instead of 4870 only 40 bucks more expensive man and its really worthed

    Thanks 4 ur comment bro

  • no problem,

and i like my 4870, its like my baby <3

it works just as good and i still max everything out.

and im gonna be getting corsair dominators soon, i have ocz reapers 1800, but only 2gb =/

  • HAHAHHAHA AMD on such a nice rig?? thats a joke

  • @karkrashful

Im AMD and ATI fan only because intel and nVidia is Fuckin overpriced for no fuckin reason

  • lol, Nvidia has a feature called "3D Vision" that could explain the increase in price.

also, when you think about it, the price is pretty comparable, Nvidia's GTX 295, is $600, and ATI's 5970 is $700 and it was just released.

The GTX 295 would have been about the same price when it was released.

Not sure who started this "Overpriced" stereotype. Because it's not entirely true, when you do some research.

Their "3D Vision" feature is also justified too, maybe not to you, but there's a market.

  • that's right ,Nvidia has 3d vision but if think about the ATI last 5000's , they have way more features than Nvidia does , for exaple < Eyefinity, Ati stream processing, Directx1,and more

in performance and price rati, Hd 5870 (Not the 5970) has the same performance as GTX 295 even some times it beats ,its even supports directx11 and its 130 $ cheaper than GTX 295.

about the HD 5970 , this beats any card on the planet right now and its even comparable with GTX 295 in performance and features.

  • @XtremeGamer73

it really depends on what your looking for in a card, if your looking for a certain feature that another card has, then get that card.

But I just don't like when people make claims about things they haven't tried, for instance people will decide against Nvidia based on an assumption that 3D Vision is a "gimmick", without even trying it.

It's fine to decide against something, but at least be informed, and not just assume something without first trying it.

  • I didn't say that is bad or worthless feature ( 3D Vision) but if you want have the best experience with it first u have to get compatible monitor which is at least more than 300 bucks and also u have the 3d glasses which is few 100 bucks it self , for some body like me who work for his money its not even close to affordable to buy it , and just have 3D vision.

and second of all when u use 3d vision it drops u frame rates which means less performance .

  • Well the monitor itself is worth $300 I think, a 120hz LCD is awesome for gaming anyways, even if it's not bought to be used for 3D Vision.

and most ppl are using more than one video card anyways, so to these people, they already have enough video power to handle 3D Vision.

the only real expense for most people I would think, would be the $200 glasses, and for the amount of immersion, and all the games it works on, and future games, I think it's worth it.

  • I would say that for people that already have a SLI setup. It's not much more money to put out to have a much better experience.

but for people that are building a PC from scratch, I agree it may be too much, not that it's not worth it tho.

but like I said for people that plan on doing SLI, and getting a good gaming monitor, then what's another $200?

  • @XtremeGamer73

The 5970 does beat any card on the market right now, I agree.

but sometimes features can be more important, that's not to say that "Eyefinity" isn't a cool feature, but ppl claiming that it's better than 3D Vision is silly I think.

You can't even see what 3D Vision is like over a video on youtube anyways, but yet I still see people writing comments like "This doesn't look 3D to me" well no shit, lol

  • @XtremeGamer73

I don't think ppl are idiots if they buy an ATI card, If people do their research, and read about 3D Vision, and maybe try it, and then decide that they like the other features that ATI offers, hey no problem.

at least this person is reasonable. but I just can't stand people that say "3D Vision is a stupid gimmick!" or "Eyefinity is dumb"

their both cool features, and peoples experiences of each are going to vary from one person to the next.

  • Hey gamer do you have that setup to pull air in or push air out? I have the same case and cooler and i have found that setting up the back fans as intakes and leaving the front as intakes as well give great performance. Since the 1200 has the big boy as the exhaust all the air in the case gets sucked out from that fan. I tried doing the back and front as exhaust and also tried them as norm setup and found that have all the fans intake cold air and the big boy push it out works best.

  • I forgot to say that my coolermaster fans ,one of them pull and the other one pushes the air out , is the fan is a monster , 90 CFM.

  • Yea high cfm fans are good but could hurt the air flow at times. I noticed with the corsair h50 that having two yateloons at 88cfm cools it better then two deltas at 130cfm. Not really sure why but it all comes down to experimenting. remember all your trying to do is move the heat off the rad and out of the case not shoot it to the moon lol.

  • @latticelinux A high air pressure is what you need rather than cfm in your case, You need the fan to be able to push the air through the radiator rather then just throw a lot of it at it and only have some go through it. I ditched my H50 for a Zalman cooler. The zalman works a bit better.

  • Its interesting that all the fans intake works good ,i never thought of that i should try it ,

my cpu is running at the 4 Ghz 35 degrees idle which is not bad , but my gpu and specially my MB running very very cool even when when im gaming.

  • also, as far as Intel & AMD goes, you pay more for Intel because you get better performance, it would be ignorant to think you should just get it for Free. (Just Saying)

I don't hate AMD tho, I currently have an AMD Athlon FX-57, tho I don't know if it survived a recent PSU failure, until I try it with a new mobo.

I would say that if you want best bank for your buck, AMD wins, but price aside, Intel wins for performance.

It's been proven in many benchmarks, I'm not a fanboy, lol

  • I understand of course that the difference between a High End AMD CPU, and a High End Intel CPU wouldn't really be noticeable, in real world situations.

and for people that don't care about "numbers" then I would say "Sure get and AMD cpu" nothing wrong with that, but then you have your perfectionist, that DOES care about "numbers" (Maybe they want headroom) who knows, but for this person, they would probably get an Intel.

You really can't go wrong with either one, both great companies.

  • ok i get what ur saying, but intel will blow amd chips away with a few extra dollars, and im also an ATI fan. nvidia is overpriced and constantly gets beat by the cheaper ATI.

  • @XtremeGamer73

One last thing... I will say this, the people that HAVE tried it (3D Vision) are almost always positive towards it.

and the people that HAVEN'T tried it, are almost always negative towards it.

What's that tell you? lol :-)
