Great video! Btw, when your hair was in braids, it looked like the ends were taped or something, I'm assuming to make a curl at the end instead of just being straight. What type of tape was it, and do you have another vid where you show how to do that? Thanks!
@JudyWhat34 Soft Roller. That's what I curl up the ends with so I'll have curls instead of "spaghetti ends." You can find that technique in my video Working with Waves. :o) In that one I do multiple braids with curlers on each end, but usually when I merely do two braids, I split the end and do two curlers per braid. It just works out better for some reason.
Holy cow, woman, you have a lot of hair!!! Lovely, by the way, always wanted long hair likw that. =) I'm doing a Regency themed birthday, and this is the closest to what I wanted, thanks so much!! (and the easiest to follow!!)
I've just completed this, minus the wrapping of the hair thing. My hair is way too short. lol. It was so easy and beautiful! Having curls naturally definitely took out a lot of steps.lol
i really want to try this hair style especially that I am going to a wedding this summer, but my hair is to short do do it with the bun underneath, but t o long do do it whithous something similar, what would you suggest i do.
@unicorntear303 Hmm. Maybe a mini French twist with the top bit out, and then you can pin the curls over the twist? That might work. I don't know how long your hair currently is, but I know a French twist was do-able for me until almost waist length, and you should be able to leave enough out to pin your curls.
@torrinpaige thanks for the tip, i will try that. my hair is to my waist. i was also thinking of maybe trying a sock bun, and then pining one strand twice, if that makes any sense. would that also work? i love your tutorials,
Oh wow. You are so inspiring. I have shoulder length hair and I REALLY want to grow it to around yours. How long did it take you to grow that beautiful hair?
At the Dollar Tree you can find rubber like headbands. I have a ton & they usually come 2 in a pack. They are a flexible, colored, rubber type material with hair tie elastic at the bottom. They come in different cut out shapes & colors. (I hate the hard plastic ones too. They hurt!)
This is the cutest hairstyle!! I really love it & will definately give it a try. After watching you and the way you have such a good time- I had to subscribe! Love your videos, your so funny!
Thanks for sharing the technique of putting the band under the hair. I have shoulderlength hair and I used that trick with a tiara (little one) to hide the ANNOYING showing clips on the end and it totally stayed the whole party long (and the party included some vigorous dancing :))
I love the knitting needle idea. How did you do it? I have got to get my hubby busy getting them done. I also love the ribbon idea. I can't wear headbands because of my glasses. My hair is nearly to my knees, so I really love this. It is a good look for church. My girls like it as well. Their hair is about my legnth.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Your videos are wonderful (well, the ones I've watched so far, I'm getting to the rest of them). I have long, thick hair, and it's nice to finally find pretty, and somewhat simple, hairstyles I can do with it!
I just did the braided regency up-do and then watched this video and it looks so pretty! But seems so complicated so I'm too scared to take my hair out and try it! Plus I currently only have two pins! Thanks so much for these videos, they're awesome, you're so cool!
So pretty! Finally, something that works with my curls! The only problem I had was my length. It's lower-waist length, so just putting it in a pony gives me a LOT of hair to pin up. But if I do a pretzel bun, my leftover pony is too short to do very much with it...so I've kind of been doing a weird flippy bun thing to eat up some length. :)
I love this one, thank you! I'm kind of thinking if accent-braids will look any good around the head, instead of the headband. What do you think? Any ideas where to take hair to start such a braid? I can't wait to try this one! :-)
I have a silly request....I have the most difficult time placing bobbi pins in correctly. Is it possible to maybe have a video using both u shape pins and regular bobbi pins? Any help will be appreciated.
Oh my gosh, I so needed this! I'm planning my wedding and I've designed a Regency style dress and I didn't know how to do the hair. Now I do, yay! Thanks so much!
If YouTube would have existed when I was growing up, I would have never cut my hair. I dont know what I was thinking that short hair was pretty. Now I just cannot get it to grow to the length I use to have it (like you).

If you want to pay to much check out a health food store. If you want to pay just the right place try out an ethnic food store. Bonus points if the owner don't speak English fluently.
Wow Torrin, this updo is so cute!! Thank you for sharing it with us!
Oh, and i need some support... i asked the hairdresser to cut 10cm (dunno in inches, sorry! italy here! :-D) anche she cut 25!!! My hair reached my bum and now it doesn't even reach the elbow...i'm so frustrated, and even more by all my friends telling me how better i look with shorter hair....i want my hair back! I know you can understand me... she erased 2 years of growth! I can't even use bun sticks now... :-( wanna cry
First, never go to her again! Next, find someone you trust to give you trims from now on (my hubby does mine). Finally, take a deep breath and think of this as an opportunity to pamper your hair and envision how awesomely healthy it will be when it grows back. (Oh, and pay no attention to those friends. They're trying to make you feel better.) It will grow back, so for now, play with the shorter hairstyles while you can!
Torrin, you're a genius =P You make all these styles seem so easy and do them so effortlessly, even tough I'm sure you work hard on them =D Thank's for another great turorial, I really liked it! Maybe it's a nice thing to try out myself on washing days, since I have these natural ringlets before I comb everything out =P Thank's for sharing!
One question, a few top layers you pin onto the top layer of hair above the pony tail, and then with each layer you pin it INTO the bun, like a pin cusion, is that right? And is getting those braid waves a sure thing? Because mine never came out as nice, did you use a product? And how do you curl the braided ends?
Check out my video on Working with Waves..that's how I get braid waves and curly ends. I'm using Aussie's Catch the Wave Flexihold mousse for the ends, but that's it. You've got everything else spot on. ;o)
Yes, hairstyle for my shorter hair! Now, to figure out how to keep my hair curly long enough to do this hair style. <-stick straight, uncurlable fine hair.
Were you using a chopstick to separate your hair? Another household tool that has 1000 uses--chopsticks.
Yes, that is a chopstick! It's a giant one that came with my wok...and I've only ever used it for separating my hair. It's the best! Good luck with the curls, I know what a pain they can be.
Great! It looks so good on you :D I will definetely try this one, having a historical party coming up (my clothing is late victorian, but hey fancy hair is fancy hair ;) )
I don't think anyone will nitpick, although, I do have a Victorian 'do as well....lol. Let me know how it goes, oh, and if you take pics, I'd enjoy those as well.
