Three dislikes....I guess some people don't like awesome. I can understand that, I don't like good tasting food or tasting delicious beverages or spending wonderful days on a boat somewhere.
This video was in the "related videos" to a performance of this by the Stan Kenton Jazz Orchestra. Being a fan of DCI, I clicked on this video, and I was amazed. This is so awesome. I would absolutely love to hear this played live.
You know, I've been playing this on repeat for 2 days everywhere I go. I'm 24 yrs old with a musical background and just want to say; For a gym, their dynamics are really nice. Great video.
@topfuel567 Gotta have that metronome going man. It's drum corps after all :P But yeah.. I was wondering the same thing too.. Maybe it is to discourage players to do phrasing,, which kinda seems to be the deal in drum corps.
I have a recording of it that is pretty good, but I wish there was a better version I could find. I'm not sure it its of this actual performance, but its still very nice.
I love this arrangement of this piece and how they play it is just...magical and very emotional.
I marched Freelancers in the eighties and early nineties. I pretty much always toured with Santa Clara. I met Gail Royer on many different occasions and had many friends there (Santa Clara). EVERY time I hear Santa Clara play Clowns, it is special. EVERY time I hear Santa Clara play Clowns, they are playing it to Gail. EVERY time I hear Santa Clara play Clowns, it makes me cry.
i forget the arranger but yes it is in 4-4.. its a very hard meter to stick with given the melody but after listening to it.. you can see and hear it fit better
Yeah, after I'd finally figured it out, I'd already posted the comment. It's crazy for that song to be in 4/4, but it makes much more sense now. LOL Thanks for responding!
Can you believe that there were actually people on the front side plugging their ears!? I would kill to hear this indoors and from that vantage point.
All I can say is....WOW....I will admit...Vanguard is not my most favorite corps out there...but its just a wonder that Vanguard can produce such a full beautiful sound for this song. Kudos Vanguard....Nicely played!!!!!
that was without a doubt one of the most beautiful things ive ever had the priveledge of hearing in person. its something ill never forget, and thanks to TonyDanza007 for posting this so i could relive that moment.
Brings back a lot of old memories for me. I loved it when they played it with Phantom at their home show in Rockford 84. When I think of Drum Corps this certainly fits the bill!
clowns is in 3/4 but they conduct in either 2 or 3, this is the first time i've seen it in 4

Technically the conducting is correct. SITC is timed in 12/8, which is the same conducting pattern as 4/4
