This video was in the "related videos" to a performance of this by the Stan Kenton Jazz Orchestra. Being a fan of DCI, I clicked on this video, and I was amazed. This is so awesome. I would absolutely love to hear this played live.

I have a recording of it that is pretty good, but I wish there was a better version I could find. I'm not sure it its of this actual performance, but its still very nice.

I love this arrangement of this piece and how they play it is just...magical and very emotional.

I marched Freelancers in the eighties and early nineties. I pretty much always toured with Santa Clara. I met Gail Royer on many different occasions and had many friends there (Santa Clara). EVERY time I hear Santa Clara play Clowns, it is special. EVERY time I hear Santa Clara play Clowns, they are playing it to Gail. EVERY time I hear Santa Clara play Clowns, it makes me cry.

Technically the conducting is correct. SITC is timed in 12/8, which is the same conducting pattern as 4/4

i forget the arranger but yes it is in 4-4.. its a very hard meter to stick with given the melody but after listening to it.. you can see and hear it fit better

All I can say is....WOW....I will admit...Vanguard is not my most favorite corps out there...but its just a wonder that Vanguard can produce such a full beautiful sound for this song. Kudos Vanguard....Nicely played!!!!!
