I remember listening to this live on the radio whilst redecorating a bedroom. It sent chills down my spine and still does. Fantastic job by Robert Plant!
I think this is the only performance from this concert where there isn't 3,042,571 comments comparing Freddie and the singer because they're both indisputably 2 of the best.
Oh yeah KARPATZASGAYVENGE...I suppose it was you the one who was counting those cocks for replacing Freddie´s sucking afterwards...you envious pussy!!
as good as plant is, Freddie's performance of this song in 86 at wembley totally makes this look like crap. but Freddie was possibly the best frontman ever and a great live performer, even better than plant. this is still amazing, though.
The thing I like about Plant and Zeppelin is ,even though there right up there with the beatles etc. They were still the biggest cult band in the world. When Robert made this appearance,I bet 60 % of the tv viewers went "WHO S THAT".They were never honored by grammys etc when they were together. The average music fan would struggle to name 3 songs by them. They never went on totp s with there new single.Queen were a pop group ,and in 1969 Freddie would have bitten off his own arm to be Robert Plant.
In 1969,it could have been the 100 000 advance, the three American tours,Two platinum Lp s,the private jets and limousines.Remember When Queen did nt have a singer, they asked Freddie if he knew somebody, they did nt ask Freddie to be the singer.I think they would have taken Robert Plant.
I never thought it was material things that Freddie admired, I meant talent-wise what he admired about Plant. And, you're right, you can see Plant would have been a very, very good match as a singer for Queen.
My favourite band and the lead singer to my second favourite band singing two of my many favourite songs? This was a great concert and Freddie Mercury will be missed by all forever.
Robert did a pretty good job, he added his usual Zep-appeal to the song (no one can deny that his hip shake at 2:35 was fucking awesome) but lets not forget Robert and Freddie are the greatest singers ever and as people argue they will never outsing each other.
any Zeppelin member is on a another level...very few can reach that level when those 4 ripped the seventies apart. They will go down with the Beatles, beethovan, mozart.
why get hung up on weather or not he sounded as good as freddie mercury or not. i dont think he was supposed to sound like him, i think he was paying tribute to him. that was fun to watch i thought. oh, and brian may is such an awesome f'in guitar player!!! why isnt that more widely recognized. or maybe it is, i just wanted to say it again.
While Plant is no Freddie and Freddie, rest his soul was no Plant, it was still an excellent performance, and not many people could have done this particular song better.
y ru laughing plante fucking rocks u cant say he doesnt plante played a diff style then mercury and its a fact he has a beter voice plantes range is way beter then any singer ever in rock the only people that might have a beter range is opra singers
Why don't you listen to Freddie trying to sing Led Zeppelin songs before you talk too much crap moron. Freddy has a great voice, but Robert had more vocal range.
fyi robert was at his vocal peak from 68' to 73' afterwards he completely lost alot of his range and power
freddie however just got better and better with age and i dare say his final stuff on albums like innuendo and made in heaven were hands down his greatest vocal performances
More vocal what??? Plant who abused the falsettos?, don't make me laugh, and you called the other guy a moron? Freddie had an operatic voice that was opened to any kinds of styles and possibilities, it was versatile and divine, Plant is the great singer, Freddie is GOD!!
Robert Plant is one of the premier vocalists of all time for a reason. He digested this tune so well that it sounds like his own song. I was absolutely impressed by this performance. It's masterful!!!
It sure is! Too bad that the other song, "Innuendo", wasn't included on the DVD as well. I liked the performance, but Plant himself decided his singing was sub-standard...
Jeez...Really? I never knew that. But that's exactly why he is what he is. Obviously he has extremely high standards to himself. Robert is one of my very favorite of all time. I'm sure Freddie would feel honored that he sang this tune for a tribute.

After his recordings with the Honeydrippers, this song was a great fit for Robert Plant to sing to. Freddie Mercury would have been proud of this tribute to him. Well done!
I also loved/was touched by how they did the "READY FREDDIE!" three times...that was really neat and a great way to treat that part of the song in honor of Freddie.
They start with the intro of "Thank you", and that's a Zeppelin song. But soon they start to play "Crazy little thing called love", the famous Queen song :)
Robert Plant is a very nice vocalist, but he is ages away from Freddie (just like any other vocalist). He did a very good job in CLTCL, but was very unfortunate in Innuendo.
Robert plant is very good on his own way but again any1 who try to sing a Queen song they end up discovering how great Freddie was.I think Robert did a good job with crazy litle thing called love but..he really did destroy Innuendo, and is not coz he wasn't at his best..he can't simply do it.Thats all. There can be only1

Robert Plant is an arrogant cunt. He didn't the earlier songs he sung to be shown because he thought he sounded 'bad'. Talk about spirit of music for everyone
I like to introduce you to Led Zeppelin....the rest is history for the mortals...it will be a long time before a group of this magnitude hits this planet. It will take a act of God Himself.
Crazy Little Thing Called Love was such an easy song for Plant to sing...I bet it reminded him of The HoneyDrippers sessions...with that 50's style / sound of music...perfect fit...
It's a shme Roberts voive has droped from that old Raw sound back when...no range..maybe he can get surgery to fix it, to mant years of screaming I guess....
What people need to understand about Robert is that he loses his voice EASILY when singing live on tour, sounding like he has a cold or something. It's sad, but that's the way it is. When he is on, there's no one better. You just have to catch him on the right night.
danny3833333 do you have any performances you would recommend where robert plants voice is really good? j/w id love to see some of your recommendations

shut up, why there are so many stupids comparing this and that? they only show their lack of knowledge.
stop the unnecessary comparisons and enjoy their playing.

Plantanious sounds greek. ¿Are you Mr. Plant lost brother? LOL. Peace.
This song is the shit. Love the crowd reaction at 1:42 when the guitar comes in. "¿Are you ready? For this little thing called love" WOW

danny3833333's comment is a fair one. If anything, its his high standards that made me disappointed with this performance.
Wingle23 4 years ago
What people need to understand about Robert is that he loses his voice EASILY when singing live on tour, sounding like he has a cold or something. It's sad, but that's the way it is. When he is on, there's no one better. You just have to catch him on the right night.

danny3833333 do you have any performances you would recommend where robert plants voice is really good? j/w id love to see some of your recommendations
