The characters only real role in the movie is to show you what would happen if the Myans predictions came to pass, and so they took you on a tour, to show you what the end of the world would look like. good movie just unrealistic. The world wouldnt be able to recover after a super volcanoe in 27 days. The ash cloud would still be covering the atmosphere. And when john and his family was trapped below the boat deck in flooding water they wouldnt have been able to even talk that water would have been so cold they would have went into shock within a matter of minutes, no way he or his son could swim in it

Anyway, I tend to be very critical myself when I go see a movie, but this is mostly when I go see independent films, or films made to make you think. 2012, is purely entertainment, and to that regard, it did accomplish its goal. I got entertained, enjoyed most of the special fx's, and forgot about my car payments for a while. I had fun, period. No more there to see, or discuss. It's Hollywood guys.

I saw this movie yesterday, and I really didn't find anything wrong with it. People need to understand that it's not a National Geographic Special,it's a Hollywood blockbuster- no one cares about the ancient Mayan history. I bet if the filmmakers gave mor info about the backstory, you guys would of complained about how "we've already graduated from highschool, we don't need another history class". It was good for what it was, so just chill.

Once I found out Roland Emmerich was directing this movie I knew it would be crap! The guy's easily the most over rated director in Hollywood, he just gets the big projects because he's Hollywood's propaganda butt boy! He always has to throw in all the totally unnecessary politically correct anti-white male BS! The guy couldn't make a decent movie to save his ass without special effects! Well I'm not going to disagree with you on transformers, I thought the movie was poor at best, but when you don't have much to work with from the start, what the hell do you expect, I mean come on...transformers? Give Michael Bay the movie "2012" and he'd do a hell of a lot more with it then Emmerich could do in his wildest wet dreams! The only reason why Emmerich films do well is three reasons only...they give him the biggest projects, the most hype, and the the biggest budgets!

Oh please! I don't care how big of a budget you have, what can you do with a story and plot like Transformers? It's stupid to begin with, however movies like "2012", "Independence Day", "Godzilla" and "The Day After Tomorrow" have amazing potential for creativity and public interest, so any idiot with a huge budget and hype could make those movies money makers and that's just want happened, a totally overrated director did what anyone could do. Michael Bay would have done them much better!

Lol. It's just a movie. I just finished watching 2012 and it is one of the best films I have ever seen; even Titanic. If you're avoiding going to see it, or boycotting it in some capacity, simply because you think it's supposed to be so based on truth and not for entertainment instead, then you're a moron. The movie is absolutely marvelous, well-made, and surprisingly emotional.
If you want to see something scientific, go open a book, or watch the Science Channel for goodness sake.

good movie just unrealistic. The world wouldnt be able to recover after a super volcanoe in 27 days. The ash cloud would still be covering the atmosphere. And when john and his family was trapped below the boat deck in flooding water they wouldnt have been able to even talk that water would have been so cold they would have went into shock within a matter of minutes, no way he or his son could swim in it

Guys, have you ever tried to go to a movie without a crticial eye?, guess not, that's your job. Anyway, I tend to be very critical myself when I go see a movie, but this is mostly when I go see independent films, or films made to make you think. 2012, is purely entertainment, and to that regard, it did accomplish its goal. I got entertained, enjoyed most of the special fx's, and forgot about my car payments for a while. I had fun, period. No more there to see, or discuss. It's Hollywood guys.
