got news for all of you in here. while the soviet/russian planes may be bigger, they are , by no means better. im in the aviation industry, and i have seen these planes up close, especially the condor. the fit-and-finish and the attention to details leave a lot to be desired. i for one, would never want to fly on one. bigger is not always better. same holds true now as it did during the cold war.

For someone who is in the industry you are not to bright are you, of course they are more boeign orders, there are commercial airliners not transport, Considering that one of the first jobs the An-225 did was delivering 187.5 tonnes of food supplies to US soldiers and since then has been contracted BY THE US GOVERNMENT to transport military supplies to Iraq means its good enough for the government I didn't see boeing getting that contract, did you??

Oh and before you say about Boeigns freighter planes they are used by companies like Fed-ex and UPS, Antonov have been struggling to cope with the amount of orders its received over the last 2 years, it has shifted things from Locomotives to 150 tonne generators.

The fact of where planes are now built was a result of manufacturing being assigned there by the big shots of the former USSR. Whatever - both planes are really great and Igor Sikorski had built a 4 engine plane before WW1 so they had a long head start.
