  • I find it enormously satisfying to note that Jacques Laffite scored an F1 podium at aged 42 and Michael Schumacher did not...

  • So many great drivers back then and great cars and lafitte was one of the greats racing then was very entertaining

  • One of The Best Driver of All Time !!!!

  • Really Great driver, i like he, but for me the idol of much people is Gilles :) RIP Vill

  • JACQUES LAFFITE:WILLIAMS(1974-1975,1983-1984),LIGIER(1976-1982,1985-1986)

  • I'm going to pay Jacques Laffite the ultimate compliment:

He did a better job at aged 42 than Michael Schumacher is doing at aged 41.

  • It makes no difference how many races a man win's?

It's his overall skill, and feel for the car is what count's,

Laffite was and still is a gifted driver,

he could go out right now and make a good showing even in his retirement,

modern racing has gotten totally rediculous,

too much tech stuff, and not enough of the driver input like yrs ago,

  • 1:03 >> so funny xD

  • i think Chesney Hawkes - The One And Only is also good for the background music

  • I met him 2 weeks ago ! a great man modest.

  • The mitic "Ligier Gitanes"number 26 of jacques laffite...

  • There are no great personalities left in F1 like this anymore.

Lol at him karate chopping the guy talking to Rosberg!

  • Ta gueule zubbrowska. Apprends à respecter.

  • Laffite, like Depailler, were much too in love with life to take motorsports seriously, a real human this Laffite guy.

  • fafite tu ns saoul sur tf1 houuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu vivement kil te vire

  • When Jacques started his career with Williams in 1974, nobody thought he would amount to anything.

He proved them wrong, won races, and gave a terrific account of himself.

That Laffite scored his last F1 podium at the age of 42 driving a 1,000 hp turbo car, no less, is inspiring.

  • those were the real heros!!!!

  • Another great and underrated driver.

  • Lol la fin!!!! :D

  • Jacques was my F1 hero also. I remember the sound of the Matra V12 on the circuit of Zandvoort in the 70`ties

  • Ahh Jacques Laffite, my all time F1 hero ever.

Wished he was offered a seat in one of them Renault turbo's that time.

    This man was fast....

Hope you're doing fine now these day's Jacques !

    "a fan"

  • He is actually commentator for Formula 1 in TF1, the 1st french channel. I liked him as driver too. He used also to test cars, by pushing hard sometimes, in a automobile magazine on TV before, called Turbo on french channel M6. He was invited yesterday by Renault to pilot the F1 renault R27 in Paul Ricard.

  • Who was the Japanese guy on 01:05? Looks familiar.

  • Yamamoto is the guy.

  • Had not Laffite had his accident in 1986 which broke his legs who knows how many more season he had in him?

So sad Ligier screwed up after the brilliant start of the 1979 season. Laffite could have been champion...

  • Lafitte had his contract take him to the end of the 1988 season...so he would have retired by then I believe.

  • hm,hopefully he wouldn't have retired driving the very uncompetitive Ligier of 1988

In Motorsport magazine Stefan Johansson wrote it was the worst car he ever drove

Both Johansson and Arnoux suffered driving the 1988 Ligier

  • Grandissimo Jaquot. In pista e fuori

  • Take on me, a-ha

  • name of the song please

?¿¿?¿¿? what name of the this song ¡¡¡ ¿? thankssss^^

  • Take on Me by A-Ha

  • Awesome, a legend in a great era of formula 1!

  • FANTASTIQUE JACQUOT

  • i miss Ligier, great team.. i hate how the sell the teams now

  • Did the commentator at the very end go "ah, merde!".

I know my French is crap, but isn't that last word is bit of a taboo word in French?

  • yup he said 'merde'

  • actually, the commentator you here saying "merde" is jacques laffite himself in 1997 when commenting the much controversed accident between schumacher and villeneuve.

but what you see is the accident that ended the carreer of laffite in 1986.

  • Very good, the only thing I could that was missing was his 2nd in the 1975 German GP, when Williams were a very small team.

  • One of my favourite French drivers of the late 70's / early 80's. Many thnaks for the vid!

  • a great driver

  • Nice vid (even though I don't know anything about car's and stuff and racing...)

  • More tributes, click on my username

I'm waiting for your comments :)
