Sylvannis was Ranger General of Quelthalas during Arthas' invasion, she was killed at the final battle near the sunwell... She was originally risen as a banshee by Arthas but she was able to master possession(higher level than regular banshees) and took her old physical body back... In doing so, the possession caused her skin to go dark pale and she also learned how to use necromancy or shadow magic alongside her original ranger skills she had in her normal high elf life.

I remember I would always have my sound up incase the small chance of this quest being turned in a happened...Its so sad soundin and actually brought a small tear to mine and my sisters eyes...-fav- Now I can hear it when ever I want not just on the slim chance on the quest being turned in!

I think sylvannas sings this lament when a quest regarding her pendant is handed in, she is reminded of her mortal existance, as someone sworn to fight the scourge. It's an amazing melody and it can be heard in all undercity if you turn your audio on when it's handed in.
