I myself began to love Stefanie Sun's pretty voice & style, love this version of "Silent all these years" much earlier than I knew Tori's...

And I think many other fans of Stefanie Sun might be same as me.)

i personally think this one is better simply listening to the combination of voice and instruments. there is no absolute who sings best, just depend on how u understand this song though. both singers are very talented, i can say.

But I don't know, I find it a bit sad that a lot of people find this version better, because Tori had a personal experience that had reflected to the song - it's about the rape she had experienced and how she'd been "silent all those years".

this song seems to tell the story of my late husbands illness-he suffered constant untended back pain for years that made a nasty tempered man out of him. April 8 an MRI showed cancer had ate his backbone in half-could have started years ago-he suffered horribly for 6 months then died in October 2008

This reminds me of when I was in Munich. A German guy explained to us that he was doing a collection of postcards with a variety of languages in the world for an arts project. He requested us (in half-broken English) to fill in some for him, hoping that he can perhaps gather some chinese characters for his collage. There is that shallowness in the voice that is needed for the piece. Frankly however, after being yelled at by a choral conductor all these years, I felt that she needs a clearer diction. (biTe, trucK, bucKS, stanD, etc)
