One of the many things I really like about Bowie is how he handles interviews..just about every one I've seen he's taken the calm and classy approach. An interview that comes to mind in particular is his Russell Harty one...the guy was going for his throat throughout the entire duration trying to make him look like a fool yet Bowie being Bowie responded intellegently and with patience. He's amazing plain and simple.

Yes i noticed that too, during that stage in his life(when he was doing drugs) his best interviews are the Dinah Shore ones, because in all the others he just clams up and and, well, i don't know how to describe it, but i think he maybe had a crush on her or something, because he does respond to her mush better that lots of other interviewers

To just continue the shortage of songs bothers me because this was a new phase and musical direction that Bowie was going through. His Blue eyed Soul phase just didn't have enough songs, then again I can't blame him because the cocaine addiction hindered him was producing more songs. I wonder what it was like for the back up musicians to work with Bowie during his cocaine fueled Young Americans and Station to Station periods.

I find the Thin White Duke character on the Station to Station album interesting. The only thing that bothers me that there are only 6 songs on the album with only 5 original songs which in today's time would not constitute as being a full album. I also see the shortage in Young Americans with 8 songs, 7 originals and 1 cover. In most Bowie albums there are up to 10-11 songs.

It's interesting that despite of the cocaine addiction, he not only was able to kick the habit, but he also incorporated his cocaine struggle with his music with an additional character The Thin White Duke even though drugs were taking a physical and also a mental toll on his health. Did he even run into the law at that time because of his addiction?

hmm is this really true? if i recall, Roxy opened for Bowie at the gig he played with Lou Reed in London in '72.. I think Bowie got on with Bryan Ferry just fine.
