lets all be brave and experiance life the way chris did. don tfall behind have courage like some other people on here that allready LIVE LIFE. im 14 and like a dozen other comments from people my age lets have hope we can all do this its almost like chris himself did this to motivate ourselves GOD BLESS CHRIS !!!!!
In 2001 i quit my $50'000 a year job with Sony, bought a 1 way ticket to Bangkok, Thailand, sold local wares on eBay to fund my travels all over Asia for the next 3 years, it all ended in 2004 when i got hit by a car, i was on a motorbike, 3 months in hospital, lost my leg too...
This movie was so sublime and a touching story. I see why Chris did what he did, I wish I could do the same, but I know I never could. I'm not that brave, but this movie deserved so much credit than it did.
I love that scene at 0:51. "Society, man! You know, society! Cause, you know what I don't understand? I don't understand why people, why every fucking person is so bad to each other so fucking often. It doesn't make sense to me. Judgment. Control. All that, the whole spectrum."
I copied it down on a notebook I have where I put all my favorite quotes, poems, and songs in :)
this film really inspired me, i would love to that one day, maybe not as extreme, but it was such a moving film, i cried for i dont know how long at the end, i wish he didnt die, its really not fair!
Yes, it is really inspiring! I've got exactly the same thing... It reminds me to everything I imagined to do.. But at least you just don't do it, do you? I'm fourteen too but when I'm older I would really like to do something like that :)
If you do-- use common sense and don't just wander off into the wild with just a bag of rice. I'm a VERY experienced camper. Use your brain and PLAN PLAN PLAN. Do it the way he did is tatamount to taking off in an airplane across the Pacific with enough fuel to get you only 500 miles on a 3000 mile journey. Think about it first. And for God's sake develop your advanced camping skills first ! (you'll have fun while you're developing these skills) - Look into "Outward Bound" too
I loved the book and the movie. I love his adventurous spirit- it's what brought me to Alaska myself. I just wish he was more prepared and cautious as his fate was completed in the wild!
im 14 and this move inspired me.. and because it reminds me of myself beacause all my life i wanted to have a journey.. and all my life i walked outside.. still do.. great vid
It´s really inspiring, but you are too young, you have your hole life to have a lot of journeys or great adventures and that only depends on you, so don´t worry, you will do it!!!!
ooh.. my friends uncle does exactly what the dude in the movie does he walks places around the country and comes back to visit family what a great life
@fatass712 dude. please..dont change. stay like this forever. forget this sick society *caugh* *caugh*. I am 21 and I am just like you. for 21 one years i walked outside and i will allways do. I was planning to do this a long time ago and i met someone who is doing it and now that i saw the film i realized that i can also do it. its all just a matter of courage. i wish you luck on your adventure. :)
Listen to this song makes me mourn ... It makes me think about all the different lifestyles of the human race. Everyone is free in this world to do everything they said his heart.
Totally agree with you, but there are people who don´t understand those different lifestyles and because of that, they criticized people such as Chris.
@Rafione fuck'em. let them live their own little lies and may freedom be passed on to the real wild spirits like Chris and all of us who feel the way he did.
Thanks for all the people that have made the video being honored this week and thanks also the people that have included a link on their webpages, vote it as favorite and rated it. I really appreciate it.

Chris was so lucky to have been able to experience all of that.

He was not lucky, he chose to. We all can choose to, but most of us are unwilling to let go.

I want to see the scene when RON offers to adopt McCandless. It's such an amazing performance from Hal Holbrook
