it was sampling music that made it what it is. it tells a story through the music with all kinds of different beats and works involved clashing together over an emcee just flowing about thoughts and whatever cool you know... real hip hop isn't arrogant, it's humble and loving even when its ugly... music :)

New technology allows different effects, and people like fooling with them, finding new sounds, itll all come fill circle. I'll say this much. I was an early 80's speed metal head (saw Metallica in '85 & Slayer in '84). This era (1985-early 90's) is when music crashed like never before. I was never huge early rap until Run DMC. Then PE (thanks Scott Ian) & then DeLaSoul. Each groups is different but have 1 thing in common- flow. Everything fit and wasn't forced. TONS of speed metalheads like me dug mid-late 80's rap because of pure skill. I mean this song sampled Chicago, Frankie Valli, Tower of Power & Chic.
