  • Trumpets...please...

  • The xylophone really pisses me off. They missed a bunch of flats...

  • nice! :)

  • It's alright. The bells rushed and skipped some notes, and the clarinets messed up some rhythms, but it's an okay performance.

  • I just played this for a concert at school. I play the clarinet :) i love this song

  • the trumpets beasted the solo in the middle of the song

  • I played this with my middle school band. i was a 7th grader, and 2nd chair, behind a beastly 8th grader. He even pulled through and played the high c.

  • we played this last year for festival as a 7th grader and i must say it's probably the easiest song that we've played. You are kind of blasting at some points in the song and it doesn't sound like you're tuned but other than that it's really good.

  • Our junior high played this two years ago...wierd

  • I played the xylophone in this song back in school. still remember the song line without any sheet music

  • lol and the band is soo small! lol

  • AMAZING! my skool is playing this (: that gurl on the bells/xylophone is SO good...

  • Sounds great, though the bells could be a little strong at times.

  • o.m.g lol. the band is so small, which isnt a bad thing but omg lol. their entire band is the size of the color guard at my highschool lol

  • it doesnt matter on how big the band is its how loud they play

  • not a good song to pick with such a small band.

  • great job. i was impressed considering the small size of the band.

  • Pretty good! A few parts were lacking, but this is one of the only bands that stayed up on the tempo for almost the whole time. My band is playing this, and man are we having trouble haha. Now I see that alot of other bands are having the exact same problems as us.

  • the thing about this song is that Robert W. just has a bunch of ideas and splats on paper so that all his music sounds alike. its cool but he should come up with something new.

  • The trumpets sucked

  • bad instermentation

  • saxophones/altos need to back off in the beginning

  • @BeastTheSport well they don't have a low brass section so i guess they needed to play that out

  • I know it's grade 4 but they sucked it up...

  • the trumpets are splating everywhere

  • it was nice but it was not like the real song

  • THIS. IS. AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • this is good. only a couple big mistakes. i play tenor in my middle school symphonic band and we're playing this song. its pretty cool.

  • i played this in jr high, the bells are loud, its supoose to be just the flutes and other woodwinds playing the melody inthe begining not bells ,honestly i thinks flutws should be the only ones playing melody in the beginning

  • Really good. I am in a band doing this tonight and wanted to check how the gong should sound. I've never heard a recording of it and its the first time I will be using it :P

  • NIce high C kinda..

    atleqast you hit it.

  • trumpet splat ftw!

  • the bells were WAY too loud!!!! other than that, it was good.

  • xylophone messed up on 0:39 and should have used softer mallets

  • isnt there supposed to be bass clarinet with the piccolo?

(i know weird combination but our band is playing this and i play bass clarinet and i play with the piccolo)

    maybe they didnt have one

  • yeah i did it with all the flutes. it was okay but idk lol . yes it was a weird combo but i think it sounded good i guess lol i play bass btw =]

  • for a minute, the first trumpet looked just like the first trumpet in my band when we played this...lol...anyways, I guess it's alright: especially for a band that small....the piccolo was way better than our piccolo.

  • don't you just hate it when someone does that really annoying cough in the middle of the quiet parts, but u dnt realize it until you hear the recording?

  • i play the flute so ive got to say i was dissapointed in the bells doing the main part the flutes ussually do but its really pretty like that i luv this song it gives me the chills we r doing it for my middle school band

  • my middle school honors band did that better

  • damn that last note wat was up with that eehhhhh :/

  • LMAO the last note sounds so bad

  • wtf is up with the kid on the floor???

  • hahahaha the kid.... 4:34 through 4:36 LOL!!!!!!

    Love this song =]

  • The guy on the floor was funny.

We did this last year it was totally awsome, but you guys ruined it. It went to fast, the altos and tenors overpower everything else, even the trumpets, the marimba also was a bit loud in the beginning and the ending was awful.

  • I played this in middle school. Hook it up with percussion!!

  • this song is easy to play for me, considering i only play trombone but still i love the song. I can imagine a midevil battle to the faster music

  • That was pretty good!

Haha, love that kid on the floor xD

  • haha that kid on the floor.

  • you guys are pretty good.

    is that a flute solo?

    oh no its piccolo right..

darnn i can only play flute..

i have to leanr how to play piccolo

  • 4:00 rofl

i guess he really liked the song

and danced to it on the floor

not trying to get in the camera view

  • where playing this in band and im in 7th grade where also playing the tempest!! i play flute

  • u guys destroyed that song lol im doin that now as tenor in 8th grade.

  • You guys play really well, but this was waaay too fast. I played marimba when my band played this.

  • those of you who are saying tenor is too loud. do you have any idea how hard it is to play soft tenor? DON'T INSULT MY BAND!!!

  • Oh thats hilarious, I go to a different shs and we played that song last year! :)

  • well...i dont want anybody to get offended by this because im nice but did u tune at all before playing?

  • We did, but our tuning went sour as we went along with the concert...by the time Into The Storm was up, we had lost it....just one of those things. T~T

  • my high school played this song 2 years ago 4 festival which if ur woundering its were we go and get reated not like a compation but like we u take a test that the state has u take to see what ur teachers have 2 work on 4 the next years class

  • no affens butt that sounded like crap

  • at my school there are so many alto sax's it hella loud

  • ROFL u got a tiny ass band o well so does my school XD alotta of people drop out of band over the years lol

  • hey you know what who cares if our band is small because we are good!!!!!

  • lol, my HS have a small orchestra.

    watch my HS's version xD

  • i can really hear the tenor saxes at the beginning during the tenor/alto/horn solo.

  • I played this for a huge judging event with my band AND orchestra last week. Out of all the people that showed up, we had the highest rating and recieved 1st place. We kicked butt!!!!!!!

  • i was the piccolo soloist ^^ i had been flat every time we practiced and then finally brought it together at competition for our tambourine player to mess up and us get a 2 on it!!! :(

  • This song is awesome, my band at school is playin this song.. We're only 6- 8th and are like 15 people. But it's a great song, our director played it in school and is having us play it. With this song you get so hyped up playing, today I had what I call an "Into The Storm High" it's great.

  • the trumpets sound bad

  • wow thats a small highschool band

  • OMGOMGOMG i love this song

  • its fun to play!!

  • Bell covered up he flute ALOT but at least you can hear what their suppost to play

  • right now It's 10:04 pm. lol

  • LOLS. okok. maybe we just stop chating here. (:

  • Lol I love playing this song :p

  • mhm xlophpone hit the wrong not def. at .38 but its not bad. out of 10 i give it a 7....

  • Yes. i agree those who say trumpet need practise. :)

  • woo woo woo. The xylophone at 0.38 i think she has hit the wrong note. and at the starting the sax was too loud! can't hear the trumpet.

  • The trumpets come in fine...I have no idea where you say you can't hear us, we're NEVER quiet. haha

  • Yes i agree that the trumpet came in fine .

The sax is too loud.. and at 1.20 around there .. is abit .. not good for the trumpet?

    hope you understand (:

  • Oh deffinately.

    not a problem. ^_^

  • wtf? ur only mising about.. 7-8 instruments

  • You guys need more people in your band it's not enough for this piece but good job

  • ...you think WE'RE bad, you should hear some of the other bands on here...eek.

    lol

  • its okay....but...the low woodwinds have to slow down at measure...uh...somthing beefore 70.....anyways...Sweet...I'm in band and we're playing this...AWESOME!!!

  • Trumpets need to practice! The music isn't that hard, and sax. are strong players, but they play to loud.

  • this is a hard song to play. The jr high band is starting this and i play 1st alto.

nice try trumpets, and good job overall!

  • if you use s or 4 trumpets then there not all gonna have a stuck valve Daa Da DU!

  • It was just the 2 1sts...he was having trouble with his second valve and I the 1st....which is why a lot of our notes thru out the rest of the piece weren't cxorrect either.

  • BOO

  • Yea i think the xylophone person could have used some yarn mallets instead of the hard ones so u could here the flutes more......but otherwise it was pretty good!!!!!!!

  • the people in the beginning with a steady beat should be a bit quieter but other wise pretty good. that person on the xylophone is awesome lol

  • the second alto needs to back of a little ad let the first thro a little more. and the xylophone needs to be quieter to let the flutes through. but overall this was pretty good, thumbs up

  • omg we played this my freshman year and we score a 1 lo but this year we are playin hym song of phillip bliss lexington march and choral and allegro

  • Haha! We had to put this in at the last minute lst year. We couldn't play Mars!

  • It's good but I remember that the melody theme for the clarinet should be played a little louder. I'm practicing it right now (wow it's amazing!) and it should be a little louder than that. But anyway congratulations, tthat song isn't easy to play...

  • Its not bad, could be better though. Our schools Senior Band played this and it's a really amazing song to play ! Really atmospheric =)

You guys should check out a peice called 'To the Summit' by Robert W. Smith, thats really amazing too. I play that song with another band and its taking us to the British Championships in Warwick.

    Good job though ! =)

  • This is one of my favourite songs that I played in school band. This really took me back!

  • Our band will play that song soon GO CLAIRNETS!!!!

  • :D Yay!

Our middle school Band's gunna play this song.

    I can't wait. >D

    OwO Awsome job.

  • great job!

  • Very good tuning.

    :)

The only problems I could hear were...

The saxes are accenting their notes in the beginning part. The trumpets need to tongue their notes a bit more cleanly, and the piccolo solo was too fast.

Overall, the band does sound good considering the amount of people playing. Your band got a nice strong sound from so little people. Good job. :)

  • your band went WAY to fast just before the solo

  • i am playing this song for my band's state band festivals!! you guys did a good job. we don't sound to good yet cuz we just got the music like 3 days ago. but u sound really good. : )

  • I LOVE Robert W. Smith. Everyone should listen to the Great Locomotive Chase. My band calls it the Train Song, ahaha. We played it last year :]

  • SUPER! that was cool. we just got into the storm last week. im lead trumpet im so excited. lol, i love this piece. you guys are AWESOME! ^_^

  • *GASP*

    no Frenchies?!

it ain't a band without frenchies

    lol jk :P

    french horn is my instrument

    GO FRENCH HORNS! :D

  • lol, ya i play french horn. they rule french horn FTW!!!

  • I love the clarinet/tenor melody that comes back two or three times and is faster every time. How many people does your band have in it? Looked on the small side to me.

  • Yeah...SHS band had 27-ish people when this was recorded last year.

  • True True.

Nice job though eitehr way. Its a pass for me.

P.S. Song, Piece. What ever. Its pretty much the same lol.

  • Were there any Alto sax's? all I could see were the Tenors. And were there any Frenchies? ( French horn- inside joke )

  • Yeah the Altos were sitting closest to the Director in the first row. & no we didn't have any Frenchies. haha.

  • this song "into the storm" and another song by robert w. smith called "the maelstrom", are pretty much the same song, just in different keys, in some places. i geuss if they were like part of a show you could play them together and they would be reflective of each other. i dunno

  • Pretty good job :D. Trumpets mess up :(. But that trumpet player got the double C at the end :D. I can never hit the double C playing a piece. Any tips?

  • Yeah. I just used a lot of air. Plus I broke one of the grand rules of trumpet playing...PUFFING! If you fell you can hit a note with a little help, you can puff your lips...don't puff your cheeks, just your lips as if you're immitating a monkey. This will create more preasure around your lips squeezinfg them together, plus with all the aur, you'll get the note out. Practace that by going up the Bb scale starting with middle C, untill you have control over the notes. Hope this helps!

  • Thanks, I'll try that! :D

  • such a small group must have been tough and this song isnt much without some bad ass timpanies or a strong tuba

  • Where Playing this song right now and its all 7th graders like me and where doing good just need to get the accidentals and the dynamics all in all where not bad

  • omg i love this song. our band is playing it! its amazing

  • after my solo during the part when the trumpets do their thing i always want to sleep lol

  • i'm an 8th grader at nothwest middle school in south carolina. we're playing this piece right now. but just a few clicks slower. we will be playing it in a benefit concert for us to go to new york :]

  • people in high school should play at a high school level! have you guys ever tried acension??? or anything very difficult...

    practice a bit

  • This is a level 3 piece...& it's always fin to just do something that the audience likes...weather it's a hard piece or not, it still sounds cool.

  • oh i know if the piece sounds cool then its fun to do. but when you do it and it sounds horrible, thats the problem

  • you have a pointr...and this isn't the best that we've played this song, it just so happens that one of the worst times was at a concert.

  • & yeah we've played Heartbeat5....you wanna talk about hard....wow. I really need to put that video up.

  • okay. thats all i needed to know. sorry about the whole deleting thing.

  • OMG. If your school did not perform very well for this one piece. Just let it go.

My band screwed up even worse on our concert night (bad tuning and percussionist dropped mallet near 126)The performance was decent for a high school. My only beef is that the percussion was not in sync AT ALL. Also, Alto sax missed the glissando in 2nd or third last bar. Overall, good sound.

  • [yeah, thanks for deleting our entire debate] let's see...what did I have here...ummm... [I believe that] people in a high school band should play at a high school level. You say I am ignorant, NO F****** DUH!!!! all I have to judge you is this horrible performance that, for some reason, was put on YouTube. (Along with our deleted debate)

  • "it's not your school and whose to say that WE suck!" No, if it was my school, I wouldn't have anything to compare you to, and based on my own school, I say "YOU suck" Your other point was answered in my second-to-last [deleted] comment. Oh, and I'm sorry if I'm not the type of person that will praise crap. (If you keep deleting these, they WILL get longer and more frequent)

  • i go to this school and the band is AWESOME! please don't say that "oh my band is soo much better" thats just ignorant.

    1) it's not your school and whose to say that WE suck!

    2) it's not bad to say that "okay you hit a bad note blah blah blah" but to argue on and on about the same stupid thing is just dumb. get over it! you have to realize that we are in high school. we are not going to be perfect.

  • im playing this song this year for band, i play the bass clarinet so i get that little solo

  • xlo player is a beast

i also come from a band

    and yall are really good

compared to other big bands on here

    good job

  • aww this is a big band compared to ours im the only flute in my school's concert band :(

    pretty song lol

  • I am playing this for amy 8th grade spring concert. BASS CLARINET!!! solo+melody for the first time!!!

  • i just think you need to balance more. but then again it's just me. i think the Clarinet and Flutes should come out more... but then again, I always think that. =D

because it sounds weird when the Saxophones are the loudest.

  • aww no trombone =( oh well, you guys did really well

  • I am in 8Th grade and we play this song.. BARI is what i play and i was afraid of that part with the flutes i thought i was too loud but now i am not scared

  • Okay i am from Norwalk High School in connecticut and this band is not very good sorry to say. My Middle school band played this song n no ofance we played WAY beter than u guys =]

  • compare us to some of the other schools on here....eek.

  • i for one like the music my middle school banmd sucks. (its becuase of the percussion there just rowdy boys). but you guys totally rock.

  • Here's the deal: I'm glad your trumpets are really good. But when you're playing in a highschool gym FULL of bodies, and you're playing 6 songs in a row, It's kinda hard to play every song picture perfect. Please note that the only 3 trumpets that were there incluses me, another first, and a second...the other 2 were gone. Again...I'm happy that your Symphonic Orchestra is "perfect", but unless you have a video to back up your claim, I'd rather not hear it.

  • Is there a tuba in there? If not then get one.

  • Yes...one XD we had a trumpet player switch to tuba last year because we didn't have any.

  • This is HORRIABLE!! Our Band just did that piece for rememberance day, and like omg you guys call this a HIGH SCHOOL BANDD??? like ohh my godd!!!! This is like a gr 6 piece!! haha WE totally KICKED ASS ... you guys SUCK

  • That was TOTALLY not cool. As soon as you post a video of it, we'll see.

  • OMG, your post is total shit!!!!! Learn how to spell before you post your garbage on the internet!!!

  • the xylophone is a bit too loud.

  • my 8th grade band is doin this (i play trumpet) it is a very challendging peace, although we are a small band Brunswick is a great band :D GO BMS!!!♣

  • wow! this is great! the mallots rox!

  • mallets* and yepp they do.

i'm the mallet section leader in my schoolll[=

in bayonneee nj if anyof you guys know us lol.. and yea they were playing the mallets a little bit loud.. unless it was a solo?

idk im getting this piece soon for our winter concert..

  • I played percussion on this in middle school...fucking awesome.

  • I'm sight reading this song tomorrow and I'm not even in high school

  • At 4:47....the movie ends. haha

  • WHOOOO THIS SONG ROCKS

I played this my freshman and senior year in high school, but its better with an ORCHESTRA!

  • true. lol

  • My sisters school band played this. She had the piccolo solo. She did it AWESOME, and then cried because she was so nervous haha. I thought u guys sounded pretty good. I'm a trumpet / Euphonium player.

  • lol, I love this song. My director plans to have us play it later. We're eighth grade. I don't think I could practice this and Mrching band(high school) music too. lol, it sounds like the song "The Tempest" on steroids!

  • lmao i love the girl playing the marimba or w/e in the back :) she's really good, it sounds wicked.

i'm doing this song in my music class too

    i love it :)

  • you're right she was kickass, and btw its a xylophone

  • ouuu awesome :)

  • I feel really sorry for you guys! why don't you preform in an auditorium? you are a highschool band not an elementary school one.

  • umm...the gym IS the auditorium. We just don't use the stage because the heavy courtains soak up all of the sound from the basses.

  • Why don't you use the sound reflectors?

  • haha =D

Our school can't afford sound reflectors.

  • XD Well There's your problem lol.

  • I agree dancingspacepotato! Us trombonists rule!

  • Got that song for trumpet and downloaded the recording.

  • GPHS (Grants Pass) played this so much better. Where's the Trombones, we're the goodness of the piece. Anyway, the more epic/powerful parts remind me of Princess Mononoke, I don't know about anyone else but it does to me.

  • Well, i'm glad to hear you played it "better". We don't have any trombones. Keep in mind that when we played this, we only had 23 people in the band.

  • We had 18 in our Concert Band. But we did join up with our Symphonic Band for the night performances.

  • Did you record any of them?

  • There was a School recording for our TV Broadcast, but I don't know how I can get a hold of it.
