I own a d3x and have to say its overpriced. I think dslr image quality will always be limited as long as a 35mm sensor is used. Medium format lens choice is very limited if you want to tilt and shift, and the price is prohibitive. I`m going to large format film when I can - the image quality is as good as ANY camera, and the tilt shift adjustments are first rate
Its hard to quantify what the d3x is worth. Its not worth the current price, for sure, but then again the next step up is medium format, which is at least double the $.
Throw some decent glass on a d3x and you can't go far wrong. After hearing bad things about 1/3 of nikon glass lloyd chambers receives, my future lenses will be Zeiss and Leicas

As for me, a D3X is just too much. I just want a full frame sensor, and will get the D700X or D800 since I care too much more about lenses to shell out another $5000.

Man, Ken Rockwell is such a sell out. He knows that the majority of his audience are the begginers who usually have a budget to buy camera gear with.. Which is why he praises the d40 and the 18-55 kit lens that it comes with.
Why does he support the Nikon d40 so much? Does Nikon pay him? No. But BHphotovideo, and all the major retailers sure do.
They pay this asshole whenever someone buys a d40 off of his website, which is the main reason as to why he promotes it so much. UGHHHHHH

Ken Rockwell is a dolt, I don't even know why people listen to him as a photographer. There's not one good picture that he's ever taken.
Look at his wedding pictures, they're all saturated crap.
I am amazed at the fact that as a photographer, Ken somehow manages to never speak anything about posing/subject isolation/off camera lighting.

I remember in the DX days, pre FX, Rockwell said that the size of the DX sensor is perfectly normal as it is the same as cine film
Few years later, after the FX bodies were released, I cannot find that assertionon his website no longer

Maybe a fagot like you with no life and a hand for a girlfriend hahaha.I've never met a person that has spent 8 grand on a camera. Obly people who go career by a camera of that magnitude,a camera like the D3X has an ungodly ammount of functions, and a waste when I can take pictures almost as good with my D7000.

@zavatone And I doubt you have one either since your videos are only in 480p lol. You don't even have videos that shoot basic 720p, so I wouldn't be talking shit if I were you. My first camera ever could shoot in 1080p.Only a loser with a hand for a girlfriend would buy this camera. My D7000, can take pictures almost as good as this thing. For christ sakes this camera even has a plastic body where as the D7000 has a metal frame.

if canon had the cls nikon has, i would have switched to canon imediatly now. nikon become such a fucking jew corp. In my country, for example, you can't find the d90 in the body only version. you gotta get it with a lens, be it the 18-55 or the 18-105...which is fucking lame.
