I didn't realize it before, but wow!!!! You have a 2:24?!!? That's insane!

Yeah. I should say that the reason this video is 6 seconds slower is because I didn't use the best equipment. I just wanted a clean run done quickly; without a lot of re-tries. So I used just Normal handling and Standard frame here. While my 2:24 was done with Extreme handling and Light frame. Same route and all that, just faster car and smoother lines.

My rival was Fernando Moritz. We used to trade ghosts through the Dreamcast's email. His time is "GHOST 2" at the very start of this video.

I haven't heard from him in years, and I don't think he even has a DC anymore now.

well anyways you are like the best player ever. i never thought of going down that road at the beginning. i always took the green shortcut. but i guess your way will save time. your gauntlet time was amazing but how did you hit the the little green ramp after the swinging spikes without it going down. whenever i make it through the spikes flawlessly, i always hit that ramp when its down so i have to abort.

There is no boost start in this game.

Quick start

Note: This trick assumes the game is under the default controller setting. Hold L during the pre-race countdown in race mode. Release L and hold R when the countdown reaches "3". Release R and hold L when the countdown reaches "2". Release L and hold R when the countdown reaches "1". If done correctly, your car will get a faster start. Well this is the DC version, but I doubt that code works on the N64 either. I also remember seeing it on GameFAQs, but now it's been removed. I'm sure that code is either fake or actually meant for Hydro Thunder. But I could be wrong...

The last one that's unlocked at 2,000 miles:

8.0L V10 engine, I believe it was. There's no reason to use the slower ones.

That's using the "abort" function to achieve low times I alluded to in the description. The abort button was meant to quickly put you back on the main road if you get lost, but you can actually use it at anytime. So it sometimes creates shortcuts that may not have been intended. Therefore aborting out of the spiral is faster than driving through it because it enables me to take the tube after reappearing, which is much faster.
