  • Wow I'm such a nerd, I was laughing when I started watching then I found myself rooting for the GG1. LMAO! But I see I'm the 27,129th person to view....loved it!

  • Go GG1!!! Fun video. What scale speed was that?

  • @oL5re9re55ion No idea. It was the max the G can go, I will have to run it again and see if I can get it to play back the speed.

  • I'd love to see the recordings of a microcamera mounted on top of the last wagon or caboose. It'd feel so like-like!

  • @TheMOBISHOP Find me a camera and we will do it! We have rewired this layout since the last time any racing has been done so the speeds will be a bit more fair.

  • Nice layout! It's huge! Another reason to go visit the big apple some day!

  • @Katimarailfan1 Thank you! You are welcome to come visit anytime you are in the NYC area. We are located just outside of the city in NJ, in the meadowlands.

  • 0:17 is that a UP Big Boy?!?!??!

  • @jimihendrixtribute Nope, a Rivarossi NYC Hudson

  • Glad to see some trains really moving instead of the slow 2 MPH videos that are so prevelant. Watching slow moving trains is like watching the grass grow. BOOOOOOARING!. Pete

  • @PeteM234 Pete, Thanks for embracing the fun we are trying to display here, that trains can have their nice slow speeds but once in a while there is nothing wrong with having them go full tilt!

  • @PeteM234 - To each his own, Pete. Personally, I wince when I see fine-scale model trains being run flat out like tinplate toy trains of the 1930s.

  • It's cool, but it doesn't have the classic feel that Superliner vs. Talgo has.

  • Good race and a really wonderful layout. That was a good ride. Pete

  • THE RACE IS CRAP... BUT WOW the layout is fantastic

  • More Amperage Scotty !!!!!!!!!!! ... Whoever first laid the trackway did a good job. I live in NM and it seems to me that everyone I know (and a whole lot of people I don't know) have elaborate and expensive HO (and N) layouts ... If you don't have one and live near Alamogordo the Model RR Museum takes volunteers ... Just sit and run trains and answer questions ... Google it if you are interested.

  • I THINK I BLEW MY EARDRUMS OUT.

  • that was beast. but were they both at full speed? cuz i have a 40 year old casey jones in ok condition that blows the competition in speed and power!

  • nice layout! i wish i could afford that. All i have is a 4 x 8. Then Again i am only 13

  • sweet vid man

  • HOW DO YOU AFFORD THAT LAYOUT?! crap! I built my own in my basement so the trains go on the celing from 3 islands, but its very small, i would have to sell everything i own and more to be able to afford that.

  • @nickeox Doesnt anyone read my about boxes for the videos or my channel page? its a club layout, not mine. It is as old as I am!

  • Holy $hit - your layout is awesome!!! Not to be vulgar, but if you're packin' like you have layout, it must drag on the floor!!!

  • you should have 2 freight trains race with blow me away

  • lol but i bet my big BNSF CW would out run those lol maybe even my AMTRAK Switcher lawl

  • Nope, we have tried this G against almost anything we can throw at it. Only thing that pulls more than it is a Hobbytown and only thing thats faster is a slot car!

  • @NJTrainSET dude buy a Smokey Joe from Britain, it is in oo gauge(1:76) and its made by hornby

the best place to buy one is on ebay

it has a scale top speed of Mach 3!!!!!!!!!!!! (no jokes)

  • @NJTrainSET you should try a model power 'fat boy' 0-4-0. they go 240 scale miles per hour, (I have one and calculated). no offense, but I think a fat boy would be a scale mile in front of BOTH trains.

  • @skybluedragonator - methinks with as many wagons on behind it as this GG-1, your "fat boy" would wheelspin itself into the baseboard.

  • @JBofBrisbane No, it would spin around twice or so, and then the gear would strip and the stupid thein would just sit there humming- that happenned to mine.

  • @NJTrainSET you should try a model power 'fat boy' 0-4-0. they go 240 scale miles per hour, (I have one and calculated). no offense, but I think a fat boy would be a scale mile in front of BOTH trains.

  • @dragster200696 no mate in england we have a little something made by hornby called Smokey Joe and it has a hp motor, it is a 4 wheel shunter in OO gauge (1:76th) that would cane you're ass

  • lol 2 of the greatest things in the world! a badass HO layout and breaking benjamin! LOL

  • you know the trains are nice but what really caught my eye was the hump!!! Does it work well? I would imagine so as long as the cars have metal wheels and possibly reamed out trucks so they slide nicely. Do you have a bowl in the yard so they dont run out the other end?

  • Yes the hump is fully operational! it is equipt with air retarders and there is no bowl to keep them out. We dont use the best cars in there which is why the hill for the hump is so steep. For 20 years it was cars with mostly plastic wheels and no reamed trucks. Now that we have thouse things, the cars FLY down the track and can often end up derailing at the switches on the east end.

  • was it redoen or something because ie been there before multiple times and ive seen it working just fien to the point that the ari was used to make the cars go up the hill, ive been going there for about 10 years, plus, if your lloking for anohter good race combo, use a Richmond 4-4-0 American(Modern): Bachmann and a 4-4-0 American: Bachmann

  • No it hasnt been redone... newer cars just roll alot better.

  • send me youre plans!!!!!!! and track lay out pleze

  • did the thought of a derailment cross your mind?

  • It did but it only happend once on the first run. After that everything ran smoothly all night. Goes to show when your equiptment is fine tuned for 25 year old hand laid track, it runs great!

  • nice video... kind of unfair that the red engine has more rolling stock than the white one

  • cool

  • Man that GG1 has some power in it..

  • Probably a rivarossi - got one - has 2 motors in it ....is that cheating?

  • @Automcanic Two motors? I'm pretty sure AHM-Rivarossi GG1s only have one motor. The ones that aren't Broadway Limiteds and have two motors are IHC-Mehanos, unless you installed another motor in your Rivarossi. I own GG1s from both manufacturers and the IHC has much better traction b/c it's heavier and has 12 wheel drive versus the lighter Rivarossi with 6 wheel drive.

  • What's the point of running trains fast?

    I've never understood this......

  • I dont know. Kids like fast things. Me and my friend usually dont run fast trains but we just had to do this after messing around some, so then I made a video of it.

  • @MrAquarium Isn't it fun to run your trains fast every now and then?

  • I did a Name change so I'm not mrAuarium anymore, I killed him :-) The only time I ever run anything fast would be engines, and that is after I give them an overhaul and lube, then I run will run it a lap or two wide open in both directions, sometimes I might kick up the throttle a little, but never really to fast and mostly with steam egnines, to much time sitting detailing engines to risk wrecking um.

  • that's an amazing layout. also Bachmann makes some crazy fast locos. the Spectrums. I have a couple of GE E33 which run like crazy. way faster than anything I have.

  • Yea fast untill you put a load on them! Thouse bachmanns are garbage. The old athearns and the GG1 by BLI are definatly much better than any of that junk bachmann has made.

  • you are right that Bachmann is usually making junks, but these Spectrums are nice and believe me you can load them and they are still really really fast.

  • Well in any case the only thing you really want going fast in a model railroad is an Acela. Theres no reason to have freight trains that move at 200 scale miles per hour!

  • that's true, but considering what this video is about I thought talking about speed is on-topic.

  • We'll this is true. :) My next step is to get a hold of a Tyco Super Turbo train and DCC that. If I can get that going ill really have a slotcar on ho rails!

  • @NJTrainSET You could also try it with a Metroliner.

  • That GG1 was high balling!

  • look at that GG1 hauling ass!!!! long live the GG1!!

  • Omg i thought it was all real...then i saw a hand touch the tracks and was like ohhh.... lol im so retarded.

Doesnt the beginning of this song sound like a nickelback song?

  • The song woke up this morning by nickelback sounds like the beginning of this song.

  • enormus layout and nice music

  • that is a HUGE layout!!

  • AWESOME action! Really great!

  • Lol, this proves that GG1s would still be reliable if they still ran. Just because they're old doesn't mean they're useless!

  • great video

  • lol, the steamer at 0:20 was probably like "OH MY GOD!"

  • GG1 forever

  • GG1 all the way!!!! CLASSIC!!!! i wish i had a GG1, but i only have a Conrail Gp and SD and F fleet LOL

  • The power of the GG1. :P

  • cool i liked the layout

  • f a v o l o s o ...... senza parole.... davvero fantastico....My compliments

    Bye

  • i love the music

  • whats the minimum radius the bombardier cars can run on?

  • Should be on the athearn website. 24.

  • wow. great layout

  • thats an amazing layout what club is that

  • New York Society of Model Engineers, its over by the meadowlands NJ.
