Yes, Paratroopers are given to you as a tech building extra, but not on all maps. Plus, they stack, so imagine capturing 2 airfields while playing as America. You now have 3 Paratroopers instead of simply 2 if you were any other nation. Speaking from experience: DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE AMERICA!
13:22 Illuminati influence? BTW Great review, I played the game 6 years straight, and just found myself coming back to it, once again referencing build order and trying to get friends to join me. Best RTS I've ever played!
thats a proper review mate, good job. But I am more attached to Red Alert 1 to be honest. Thats the thing about video games - there are emotions behind all this keyboard smashing.
i tried it 4 years ago for the first fime.now , i'm playing the mental omega mod ( in yuri revenge) . It's very nice and i think it's the best RA2 modification ever...
In the beginning... A short clip of a Kirov destroying the Kremlin...
That is the 2nd last mission for the Soviets, no?
My base was demolished early on in that mission, and with one single surviving Kirov, I finished the whole mission. : D Took me like 15 mins or more cuz I waited for it to heal. xD
@SlientChaos I'll be happy to answer these questions.
#1: Click on a unit and press F. It'll focus the camera on that unit.
#2: The best that I can come up with, since I haven't played this game in a while, is to build a power plant, a barracks, a refinery, and a war factory in that order as fast as you can. Train some soldiers and have them garrison nearby buildings. Remember to scout with the extra tank it gives you in the beginning to find some tech buildings, and once you find them (cnt'd)
@Dygeron92 ...train some engineers and capture those tech buildings as soon as possible. Don't go for an all out assault, break down your opponent by sending periodic hit-and-run tank blitzes and infantry attacks to destroy your opponent's important buildings such as war factories and refineries. That should give you a good start.
#3: The only one I remember is Udo Kier, who plays Yuri.
#4: In a sea-based map, Tanya. In a land-based map, Boris.
@AfterStarX Agreed. I've played C&C3: Tiberium Wars, and although I thought it was okay, it doesn't hold a candle to the old games by Westwood. I've never played C&C4, but I'm not onboard with the whole no-base no-harvesting "crawler" thing. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.
Wow how can you make the camera follow your unit like with the Terror Drone you talked about? Oh btw great review! This is my favorite and still playing it today!
@n00berania It's been a while since I've played this game again, but from what I remember, you simply click on a unit and press the F key, and the camera will follow that unit.
@Dygeron92 Thanks for the tip. Just thought you'd like to know, Westwood Pacific did this game, which is only like 1 cup original Westwood and 5 cups other developers. Red Alert 2 was the first instance that other developers can produce a top notch C&C. Which reminds me, are you also gonna review Generals? That's the second instance of others doing C&C correctly.
Red Alert 2 remains the most balanced multiplayer game I've ever played. The single player was decent but my god did I spend many hours of my youth in full war mode online. Brilliant fun. Too bad you didn't spend time talking about this section but very good review, thanks for the nostalgia trip :)
Great review as always! Its a shame that they don't make games like these anymore, making something 2d than animating it looks more realistic than a 3d model.

My favourite RTS together with Starcraft.
I hope EA do a much better job with their upcoming C&C Title than they did with the rest of the C&C franchise under their development.

i wish c&c 3 would be an Masterpiece like this...but i dont now why it feels so mediocre, unbalanced and complete different in comparison
to the frist games by Westwood. obviously, EA destroy the series with C&C 4 with that stupid ideaa to change the Gameplay completely...
