  • Wow this is like the News center II theme at KNBC

  • I was born in Phoenix around that time, and I remember that Dave Munsey was my favorite weatherman (I think it was because of his funky hair). Today he's still the leading weatherman on KSAZ.

  • I remember when Dave Munsey got into trouble for saying "I don't know if it's going to rain, it's monsoon season". The next day, he had to apologize on the air for his comment... CLASSIC!!!

  • If they were called "Newscenter at 10", what did they do when it came time to change the clocks since Arizona doesn't observe DST and goes into Pacific time during the winter months? Did it become "Newscenter on 10 at 11" during the Standard Time months?

  • Arizona is in the Mountain Time Zone.

  • AZ doesnt change their clocks. The 10pm news stays at 10pm year round. Just as primetime starts at 7pm year-round.

  • According to the SouthernMedia NMSA website that WTSP did use the NewsCenter II package (like in the video) from 1987-July 1989 (when they switched to the updated version of Gari's The One For All and received better graphics).

  • I've always wondered if WTSP, their sister station, used the same theme. I know they did use the "We're the Team" promotion campaign but I don't think they used the actual package.
