  • hi rick i have a badly abused horse im training. She is very scared of the sound of tarps or the sound of plastic bags ive tryed putting a tarp in her paddock and i put her feed slowly closer and closer to it and that worked but everytime it made a noise she would bolt i watch ALL of ur videos and i was hoping you could give me some advice because i cant get 10metres near her with the noise without her running. Thank you

  • That is a very pretty horse. :)

  • Beautiful horse. Excellent video. Buddy "Mr. Hollywood" lol.

  • Yipes! That hose rack! May as well have said "HORSE EATING MONSTERS HERE!" I always found it easier to not tie the horse. Even mine who was no fan of showers, we didn't have to do the silly dance or anything.

I used to think cross ties were awesome. Then I got watch what happens when a horse thinks it's not-so-awesome.

I want to see these two videos with commentary by Buddy. :-)

  • Rick, Could you please give me your feelings on "Cross Ties"? I do not feel they are a secure tie point and that it is setting them up to fail because if anything did occur, which something Can Always Occur I feel it leaves a lot of opportunity open for many things to go wrong. I am a strong believer to never ever let a horse off of a tie point unless obviously they get themselves into a dangerous situation and I feel Cross Ties can promote that. Can you please give me your input, thank you!

  • @NJTammy : Not a fan of cross ties, it traps a horse, they tend to be stretch cords that break, they make a horse nervous and are too restrictive for a horse to be able to move, relax and deal with things that come up. Of course if it is all a horse knows then they will adjust and accept, but the only people I see use them are people that don't understand horses, main people who to pretty up a horse, win shows and be like others that don't understand horses. Same with tie downs and stud chains.
