  • loveee love love!

  • magnifique !!

  • soo Whitney showed out on this song as she do with all her other songs. loved it

  • G DAMN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just makes no sense the way Whitney could sing in her prime. NOTHING better to me! NOTHING!

  • oh my goodness I almost threw my computer!!!! Sing girl!!!!!

  • The thing about Whitney is that she doesnt try to mimick the person, she sings it her way, she makes it her own!

  • @tdablack11

Whitney dont need to sound like nobodyelse with a range as huge as she has. She has the best interpration of any lyric has ever been known

  • I must say I think the Kay Starr (1945) version is the best. As others have said, this just doesn't follow the original structure enough musically and the voice doesn't quite capture the pain of the song.

  • Whitney, sung this song period......God bless her always.

  • @a1d2h You don't like Whitney, you don't like gospel, and you don't like Stormy Weather. Why are you watching this again?

  • Do your thang Whitney!! Phenomenal!! Thanks for posting. This is classic, untouchable, angelic Whitney!! No one better, ever!!

  • RIP Lena - you will be missed. Whitney did a great tribute to her.

  • Magic

  • Wow thats all i can say. Beautiful!

  • If anybody ever wants to hear WH total vocal power go listen to her sing I AM CHANGING when she was a young lady. Her voice is simply amazing and unmatched in this era. A voice like WH comes around every 1,000 years. Many may hate on her NOW,but the record is sealed and her past work will always speak for her.

  • nice to hear whitney sing jazz, nice tribute to the very legendary lena horne

  • She was vocally Amazing here you should check out her entire concert in Atlantic City from this....she never missed a note.

  • Actually I'd love to have an jazzstandard album by Whitney.

  • It's rather ridiculous to think Whitney would change her style of singing just because it's another genre. She liked the song, paid tribute to Lena , and sang it her way!

    Bravo Whitney!

  • No, you were absolutely correct.

  • I see your point Chimier! Whitney was winging this performance and not giving this her all. Now if she sung I think she tear the mess out of this. Her she ripped it vocally like Whitney, but musically it was good.

  • Yeah, she could have done much better than this. She did great versions of I Loves Your Porgy, Lover Man, My Man, Ain't No Way, Natural Woman and I like her version of God Bless the Child. But this was just not her best. And you'd epxect Whitney to be at her emotional best singing Lena Horne, a lady she's been compared to many times, yet she didn't bring it musically. Vocally, absolutely, but many people have done better than this. Oh well, at least we know she has it in her when she wants to!

  • FAIL!!!! I know its jazz, but it needs to have some resemblance to the melody and rhythmic structure!

  • this is the best rendition a pop/rnb singer can do.... vocally its the best rendition period

  • This was good. Not the best, but good. Certainly has been done better, but her timing and phrasing were good enough. Sure, she added a few runs in here, but the melody was certainly recognizable. And she's done better jazz readings than this. Vocally, top notch. Musically, not so much.

  • what ru talking about, she sounded amazing!!!!!

  • Listen to Classic Whitney fool. Whitney can do even opera, and country!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • It's so sad that she's never released a jazz album.

  • This what u call Artistry if u can turn a good song to an amazing song

  • she KILLED this! after hearing her do this song- how can anyone else do it in this lifetime?

seriously though this is Amazing. i love me some Nippy! Come back soon Ms. Houston. :)

  • Love my Whitney!

  • Whitney, ooh...you sung the h*** out of this song. Sing Sing Sing

  • Awesome Song & Vocals!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Whitney truly can sing ANYTHING. From blues to hip hop, classic to contemporary R&B, soul to rock (yes!), gospel to opera. She's The Voice! What an inspiration.

  • What hasn't this woman sung. She has proven herself already that she can sing any song in style or any format!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of the legacy Whitney has accomplished vocally and proud to be a fan of this legend!!!!!!!!!!

  • She did KCS run right there 2:12-2:16 Karen does that no run all the time!

  • Xtina and Whitney are on the same record label.. Arista. I like to hear a duet. =)

  • Nobody can not tell me Nippy did not come from the church. Somebody need to smack her at 2:12-2:16 with the no no no!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i'm just AMAZED @ how great her singing voice sounds eventhough her speaking voice is hoarse.....this gave me chills!!

  • I know nippyme, alot of times Whitney be hoarse when she sings and still brings it. Thats a gift from above. You know how much this woman has toured? No wonder why she has damage on the cords. I never forget about how much she already sung, when I discuss her voice now. But confident her voice will in fact in time be stronger than her youth!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I pray for that everyday kmaur trust me!!

  • WOW WOW WOW!

i have heard most of whitney's live stuff on here (sad obsession!) and I must say, this ranks among the best of it.

her arrangement here of this classic is so amazing. she brings out chords and notes that didn't exist before - these enhance the song so much and THAT is pure genius!

SonyBMG are really missing out here. if they didn't record her live shows around these incredible few years, then shame on them!

  • Stunning photo, very Lena Horne like.

  • Whitney is so incredible or should I say, used to be!!! Always will be a legend though...

  • OMG SANG IT WHITNEY!!!!, I always wanted to hear her sing this song.

  • i am speechless, you know how excited i am now.

    Greatful for your rare video.

  • OMG I used to sing this song in HighSchool!!! WHITNAAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!

  • oh whitney how i miss you ........ your voice was so incredible, a legend, impossible to sing like you... listen at her O:18-0:26 oh my , my..... i can't resist i'm in clouds... and this note 0:58-1:03 whitney baby please comeback we can't without your voice... shame on bobby shit brown an asshole

  • well Christina's main idol is Whitney, so it's no surprise...

  • I don't know why, when i listen to it this make me think of christina aguilera, like i've already heard her sing a bit that way "live"

  • Thanks for posting! WOW!

  • This is indeed a RARE GEM!!!! CLASSIC! How I miss her!!!!!!! Please come back soon, with the realness!!!! BRing it WHITNEY!!!

  • Whitney could sing any others artists songs and make it sound like a Whitney classic song,to me she used to have the the greatest voice, her voice had no limit, and i know she could do more than that musically

  • Why are you talking about Whitney in the past-tense -- as if she's dead? The woman can still SING!

  • Whitney is coming back.

    They are working on it.

  • Oh my god!!!she sound so sweet, beautiful, powerful just amazing she killed that song

  • The song is sung! Go Whitney!
