It is the tradition of the ancient Christian faith (today called 'Orthodox Christianity', which is vastly different from Latin Catholicism or Protestantism) to give everything saved through the fasting and simple living of Lent to the poor and needy. So this is a great idea. On the other hand, if the 60 days of Lent only change a person for those 60 days alone, not for life, then something is missing from their understanding of Lent and Pascha (Easter).
Thanks for the great reminder of the daily luxuries we enjoy (and take for granted) that could be put towards changing a life for those who are overlooked. So glad they're not overlooked by SIS.
What a great idea. I am passing this one on to all my peeps.
