  • It's funny, my mother's just like this, she's pressuring me to get married.

  • OMG she no want to get married! * crosses self* HA HA i love the greeks! two kinds of people those who are greek and those who wish they were greek! lol

  • this reminds me of my family

  • I love Aunt Voula

  • hahahah im greek , and laughed my heart in this film. but let me tell u sth . the immigrants to usa are little overrated when it comes to greek custums. maybe coz thye miss their land. but the base is that we greeks are fun people, and u can see it if u come for holidays in greek islands.

  • @e5ediesed it's because they miss the land and want to keep their heritage alive here in america. i know. i am serbian and we are the same way. :-)

  • @luisazavich i disagree...i've seen movies about sicilian or american-italian families and everything was so much alike ...facial characteristics..olives!!..haha

  • hahahaha this is really how we are!! :P

  • I watched the movie for the first time last night and i realized that turks and greeks are not so different :)

  • 3 people don't want to get married.

  • @5tonyvvvv That was meant to be a joke, sir lol.

  • I'm greek and our families our actually this crazy

  • @uiopytrre im armenian i kno were not greek but wt we do is kinda similar and its funny my family is this crazy too except they dont force me to marry one

  • I often heard this when visiting Greece in the 70's 80's and yes even the 90's: "Their mindset (referring to the Greek Americans who came over to the US after the war) is in the 1950's!" So true then but has changed a lot in US and in Greece since that time!

  • i really wonder....are my dear compatiots living in the USA really like that? not that there is anything bad with their ways...everyone is free to do as he wishes but.....seems more like greece in the begining of 20th century. i mean everyone in my family married after their 30s, even my grandparrents!

  • Welcome to the Italian side of my family.

  • HAHAHA.

Like my parents, and they aren't even Greek. xD

  • Andrea Martin is my idol.

    She's too funny.

    <3

  • I love this movie! Thanks for making this movie available for free!

  • i LOVE LOVE the aunt!! She was halarious in the movie!!!

  • sweetheart, while our people were writing philosophy, yours were still hanging off trees...

i'm not speaking as a major patriot of greece or anything; i'm speaking with respect for a country whose repsonsible for alot of the language we speak, the traditions we have, and the science discovered that has moulded modern day society.

so face it, you just rolled yourself, because in actual fact, greeks are pretty darn smart.

    (:

respect; look it up in the dictionary.

  • wow, i'd really watch whose intelligence i'm insulting if i were you...

    it's "funny".

look's like YOU'RE the one who's not that smart...

    douche.

  • "hehehehehe"

    how about no.

i have 'smarter' things to do.

i wouldn't want to waste my time...

the only reason you hate us is because you've been told to. you really need to swallow your maco pride just a little bit, time's have changed kid.

by the way, alexander the great... yeah, he was actually greek. and he was what you would call... 'smart.'

    so, end of story.

    (:

  • it's really quite sad that you have to bag greeks to make you feel better about yourself...

    i feel sorry for you...

    honestly...

stop trying to act hardcore with the keyboard, it doesn't make you cool, nor smart... it makes you a loser.

  • well, didn't the ancient greeks believe that the only true love was b/n a teenage boy and his mentor? or b/n fellow warriors??? you got married to have kids, but.......... at the very least alexander was bisexual. it doesn't mean he was weak, it was just the culture he was from.

  • tranurse either you or your sources are british. If you want to be able to speak on history, read history and not magazines.

  • ummm, i'm not british. it has also been 19 years since i took western civ in college. and i basically watch the history channel nowadays, and yes i know it is history for dummies. but i will crack open a david mccollum book or a simon schama book from time to time.

  • @tranurse alexander was from macedonia separate country at that time.

  • @druglover200 Only at the time? It is always separate.

  • @Foodperson not when the macedonian empire ruled over all of greece and persia.

  • @tranurse at least im pretty sure but never the less pretty much same culture i just had to put that out there lol.

  • @druglover200 like i said, i just watch the history channel, which is basically history for dummies. lol....

  • You tell them all. I can't stand all this hate people give, it's so pathetic - but hey, you can't help the fact that some people are unstable of even themselves, I mean please, they can't shut up and accept other cultures.

  • couldn't have said it better myself. (:

  • when you feel how its like, for someone to steal your own history you will understand why (at least greeks) act like this.

  • your right

  • @helsie91

Nationalities have nothing to do with intelligence, idiot.

You may need to work on knocking up the IQ score a couple numbers if you stand by your original statement.

  • I think first learn how to spell FUNNY then you can say Greeks are not smart!

  • The only thing you know how to do is insult people ! P.S. You don't need to use swear to get your point across.

  • get a life, leave me aloneeeee!!!!Get married make baby, you are getting old, hahahah that is funny...

  • Much better ! Good for you!

  • we hadn´t any problem more than 4000 years...and you think we have a problem now??

Anyway, I like moussaka! Is not smelling like you say!

  • You're probably just socially retarded then, you need to talk to people to find out.

  • oh look there we go :), see, you can't even reply without thinking you're all big and strong - get a life lolololololol

  • omgggg armenian greek pride we are the same cheers to the happy and warm hearted people of the medditteranean!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 opaaa

  • my greek friend has a best friend who is armenian lol

  • my grandparents are from Greece and they're the same!! everytime my sister tries to tell them she's not ready to get married they're like "God help us"...and of course i'm laughing my ass off :D

  • I'll bet they go like "Look at you,all your friends are married and you? What will happen to you?You are getting old,you have to find someone" etc.

  • Haaaaahaaaaaa! I love this scene! They act exactly as Greeks do!!! When they do their cross in the end! The best!

  • I was in tears I was laughing so hard when I saw this scene! The Italian side of my family is exactly like that! When I say I don't want to marry, my grandmother will put her hand to her heart and say, "Don't say that!"

  • My family is Mexican, and my aunts are the same way. Every time I go to Mexico, they keep asking me if I like kids. LOL

  • This is pathetic to admit but I memorized this scene.

  • Me Too!! I love this movie

  • I love the ending of this scene! Makes me laugh every time!

  • The movie exaggerates in some things in order to be funny, but generally, Mediterraneans are warmer, more spontaneous and impulsive and have stronger (veeery strong some times) family bonds. It's pretty funny and also interesting to watch and compare them with northerners. Really cool.

  • hilarious

  • LMAO!! That was a great scene! The movie was great!

  • i agree!! :D

  • hahahhaha im greek and we are always loud and all that u c in the movie is all true!!!

  • Greeks... forever like Lebanese... Not strange that we're from the same root...

  • Honey we like you very very much, but what do you mean from the same root? Except from the fact we are all geographically Mediterraneans, you have Muslims and Christians, and we're Orthodox, you are mostly Arabs, we are white Europeans. No offence I hope.Greetings, love you.

  • No... We have the same mediterranean hellenic root... (phenicians and greeks have the same roots...)

Humm we're orthodox too and I don't personnally believe that such things as "arabs" or "white europpeans" exist, or at least make a difference between two people...

    No offence either...

  • Greeks really really are like the characters in this film, but 100 times more crazy.

  • yea while watching this movie it reminded me of my crazy russian family...Greeks and Russians are practically the same.

  • thats true, we are both orthodox after all. :)

  • first of all she is from cyprus..ke min les pragmata xoris na 3eris..mathe ke meta mila

  • SOOO FUNNY!

    my dad's like that

  • Opaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!! A great extremely funny movie!!!! I just love it and can wac th it over and over again and laugh as if it were the first time I'm watch it

  • im greek to. so i love this movie!

  • Opaaaaaaaaaa!!!

  • this movie was faced by greeks (in greece) as a joke!it was ridiculous and expressed only the greeks of 40's!!!

  • this family is so typical for the mediterrean countries! its funny because its so true!

  • "She don't want to get married!" *GASP!*

XD Reminds me of the scene...

What do you mean he DON'T EAT NO MEAT?! *GASP!* *moment of silence* That's okay, I make lamb. OPAA! =D

  • this is exactly like my family lmao

  • this movie is so funny i,m black and american and its so funny how even though we come from completly diffrent worlds we are really not that diffrent!!

  • True story...I come from a Greek family and someone asked my cousin if we all really have barbecues on the front lawn. Her answer was "nah, we have more couth than that...we have them in the BACK yard!" What made this film so funny is it is so true!

  • This movie ruined the image of Greek women for me LoL. Found out they were actually really hot!

  • This movie was really funny, but not intended to be taken seriously lol

  • What movie is this?

  • my big fat greek wedding

  • i'm half armenian and half russian/jewish, but this family is EXACTLY like mine lol.- it's funny cuz it's true :D

  • I'm coptic and the whole movie could have been about any typical coptic family!

  • LOOOL.. this reminds me exactly of my family, except we r all arabs. We still get the whole thing going u kno with the lamb and all 27 first cousins..im even Coptic Orthodox.. We all scream wen we tlk, otherwise its considered abnormal, food must be in great quantities at all times, visitors pop in for a chat around 12am and if we marry outside our blood it means we'v committed a crime or punishment to parents..& if a girl decides she doesnt wanna marry! Yeeeee.. hell broke loose!!

  • Wow! I sence a new movie coming on! lol.

I hope everything works out for you, even with your outgoing family.

  • i love this movie so much even though im turkish there are so many cultural similarities. love it.

  • im actually greek. my grandparents felt very insulted by this movie, although i thought it was hilarious :D

  • im actually greek. my grandparents felt very insulted by this movie, although i thought it was hilarious :D

  • FYI all the people in that clip are GREEK except for voula cause she is Armenian. I am greek and my dad is xenos aka foreginer and my papous almost didnt let my mom get married

    my papou still hates him

  • classic.

  • Clearly, Varda87 has never been to Chicago!

  • The movie wasnt filmed in chicago it was filmed here in toronto and the house is at 5 mn walk from mines... my thio (uncle) was an extra in the movie

  • He has only been in a nameless country :)

  • haha :p epia se arketa meri kai eida arketous ellines/kipreous pou menoun ekei ;) prosexe PIAN prosvaleis ;)

vlepo tous ellines edo pou eimai - yes they do have "foreign" friends etc but they do sort of keep to themselves - paradigma o filos mou - an imoun kseni oute kan tha me rotouse gia rantevou ;)

  • Don't just say the Greeks separate themselves, and its not like that in the U.S. The Filipinos and Vietnamese, especially the Vietnamese keep to themselves and don't hang out with anyone but their own kind. Research before you criticize one nationality.

  • He just wants to provoke. Look at his nickname. He's from F.Y.R.O.M.

  • another reply here :p pure blooded cypriot ;) as for the nickname? Open a book - JRR Tolkien's Silmarillion - Varda was the Lady of the Stars ;)

  • That's my family! Except we're Italian.

  • It's all the same in the Big Fat Italian family too :)

  • italians and greeks are very similar! ;)

  • Uh... why? Because they're loud and love food? Those are the only similarities.

  • Lol.. i have an italian friend.. my mentality and hers are completely the same thing! The ppl in that scene (the woman and the man next to her) are Italian! And yet.. they look Greek - i couldnt believe they were italian

  • Oh yes I knew they were Italian. But I am an Italian, the man looks Greek, however the woman I think does not. But I initially said that are not alike because Greeks have such a different background than Italians, and they separate themselves from us as much as possible, atleast that's how it is here in New York.

  • that's called being nationalistic. im studying in england and the same thing happens here. greeks separate themselves from anyone else and its horrible. i dnt agree with it.. ppl in australia do the same.. greeks everywhere do the same.. quite amazing -_-

  • No Greeks are very openminded! As long as other people dont try to steal parts of our history and culture...varda! ;)

  • Yeah,I like that film too :)

  • : DDD

  • this is like the best movie ever and its basically nearly exactly like my family. ALL HAIL THIS MOVIE

  • OMG I am Greek and You have to grow up in a big Greek Family to Understand this! IT is my alltime favortie MOVIE

  • I love this movie i like it when they cross themselves that is so funny to watch!

  • lol i love this movie and the reason is also that iam greek. yeah you must be proud to be greek yes and iam hahaha.

  • The guy with the mustache did not cross himself correctly. He crossed himself the way catholics would, not like Orthodox. I liked the movie though.

  • I think he does do it in the Orthodox fashion.

head - abdon - right shoulder - left shoulder

  • ummm....no. Look at his hand, his fingers. The thumb, middle and forefinger are supposed to be united to symbolize the holy trinity, that's the orthodox way to cross oneself. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about.

  • yeah you're right, i think he is catholic though, his last name sounds italian/spanish.

  • Most Greeks cross themselves so fast they look like they're playing a Bouzouki. Believe me, I know. LOL

  • lmao, so do I, so do I

  • That is like my #1 favorite scene in the movie*

  • Lmao that is hilarious.

One of the best films ever!

  • LMFAO!

  • Hahaha! Any more from this? I'm searching to show my friend what a Greek accent sounds like. I should just 3way her with my yia yia. <3

  • i LOVE the part where they all cross themselves. i'm catholic, and, that's just funny to watch. LOL!
