It dosen't look like it stays true to Halo. Every Halo fan knows all covenant vehicles explode in a purple and pink explosion. Also the hunter has orange blood no blue blood. Also grunts don't have green blood they have blue blood. You'll see what I'm talking about in the review. Sorry if I sound so specific but Halo fans demand that the epidsodes follow the game. Also I'm not a big fan of anime cartoons. The sound was great but I don't think I'd buy unless it had a different artwork style.
I think its hilarious how some of these HALO fans are bitching and complaining for finally getting a HALO movie, when that is what they have been asking for several years now. I guess some people can't appreciate good art after all. :(

I totally understand why people would be upset. It's like this, Anime fans maybe okay with it, but the thing is. It's like if your favorite anime like, bleach, inuyasha, etc had US military based things, and the characters didn't have over sized eyes, and wasn't just anime in general. Sure maybe we Halo fans would enjoy it, but you anime fans would not. It's not nice to throw your culture into it and care less if the actually FANS like it or not.
Homecoming: Very interesting look at the spartan projects and the emotional impact on the spartans/children. Also gives a clear background story to the spartan project. Top-notch animation too.
The Package: Bad-ass sequence with awesome visuals and some creative ideas. Halsey's actor was pretty bad, but other than that it was good.
And my favourite one: The babysitter. Guest star: Dutch (From ODST).Similar animation to homecoming. Fantastic characters. SICK!!

I loved it. From a storytelling and character development perspective, Bungie are generally pretty shitty and this package was a great way to explain the mythos behind the franchise without having to worry about the game part of it. Halo is basically the Matrix of the video game medium, it's all action and flash while the story and characters play second (third?) fiddle. Matrix benefited greatly from a short story anime compilation, I feel the same for Halo.

The stories were nice but they were presented weird. Like the dying Marine randomly yelling out "why can't you just be human?". WTF. OOO sucked and didnt even get a chuckle from me. Next Time make sure Americans are making it.
Too everyone wondering why people hate it, it's because Halo is typically a very maintstreamed, American FPS game. Now throw a foreign influence into the mix and you have upset fans, why? Who knows, but the irony I found in this is that they had Japanese animators (That probably contributed to the tremendous quality of animation) while the game has experienced little success in Japan, along with the Xbox 360. It's just a difference in culture, and Americans tend to make their views known louder.

Origins was nice but Cortana starts describing events that never happened. If you don't like the anime style, all you have to do is watch "The Package". Certainly didn't insult me or most of the other thousands who have watched them.
The only one I actually didn't like was the last short. Every other one was done very well in it's own right. The oriental style of "The Duel" took some getting used to, but I ended up liking it in the end. And some of the others almost had me in tears. Due to that, "Odd One Out" was a refreshing break from the deep feelings of all the others, even though it could have been a little better. Overall I think this does great at showing the true colors of the Halo Universe.
the whole point of odd one out was to have fun and not be constrained by the halo mythos, everything you probably did not like about was put there to make it hammy and stupid
I don't see whats wrong with this, its nicely animated and does add to the halo universe. If you can't bear to watch this then you will probably hate halo 4 considering its going to be made by practically another company.

- epic J-rock/J-pop music to their ending themes/credits.
- Chibis in "Odd One Out" (since it's comedy)
- Omakes (anime bonus extras at the end of an episode. Mostly comedy).

Origins: Summed up the whole story of the Halo universe through the rampant eyes of Cortana.
The Duel: Showed us the nature, culture, and home world of the Elites, and also showed how did the Arbiter become a mark of shame.
Homecoming: Focused on the tragedies involving the SPARTAN-IIs
Prototype: Involves a Marine who disobeys orders to save lives.
The Babysitter: Tells the rivalry between SPARTANs and ODSTs.
The Package and Odd One Out: Intense action and humor.

Too everyone wondering why people hate it, it's because Halo is typically a very maintstreamed, American FPS game. Now throw a foreign influence into the mix and you have upset fans, why? Who knows, but the irony I found in this is that they had Japanese animators (That probably contributed to the tremendous quality of animation) while the game has experienced little success in Japan, along with the Xbox 360. It's just a difference in culture, and Americans tend to make their views known louder.

@Rulictar Americans aren't remaking japanese animated cartoons because there's no money in it. Another thing alot of the so called "american" cartoons that we all enjoy were/are actually animated in korea and japan (avatar, thundercats(new and old one), X-men evolution, boondocks etc). You can't exactly blame korea or japan for making the animation in their style, but you can blame the american companies that request it done that way. If you're mad at someone make it microsoft.

@LostKitsuneRonin One example of what I mean by "an anime way of doing things" is when on "The Package" Ghost, while in the Spartan Suit prototype, he runs towards the wraith to stick a bomb on it, but while running he has his arms behind him, it just looks silly. It belongs in Naruto, inuyasha or bleach, not Halo.

Why do people hate this? I honestly didn't enjoy Origins and Homecoming, but Prototype, The Duel, and The Package are great, and Odd One Out was funny :P
If you hate it because it's "anime," that's either shallow or racist. Get over it: Cartoons are different in different countries. I'd actually prefer the Japanese style for a Halo cartoon. If you don't like it because they're cartoons, why watch it?

The only one I actually didn't like was the last short. Every other one was done very well in it's own right. The oriental style of "The Duel" took some getting used to, but I ended up liking it in the end. And some of the others almost had me in tears. Due to that, "Odd One Out" was a refreshing break from the deep feelings of all the others, even though it could have been a little better. Overall I think this does great at showing the true colors of the Halo Universe.
