So God lied in a vision about food to make a point about gentiles? This is the conclusion, in order to hold a view against Mark 7:19 (which was Peter's addition to the Lord's word after he understood the Lord's teaching later). I don't defend pork or any other unclean meat as healthy, but my love of God's word demands that we take scripture at face value. Not what goes in, but what comes out is what Jesus concluded with.
@cornerstone111 Did you not read my post? the old laws were abolished when Jesus shed his blood for our sins. I've just realised this man is an Adventist... They still observe OT laws and discount Christs sacrifice.
@TheMrGobble Can you show me now where it says we can eat unclean foods in the NT? Adventists have their problems like all denominations, but the health message is an important thing that other churches should embrace as well.
@TheMrGobble No only the sacrificial laws where abolished. The laws about taking a clean animal and having a priest at the temple place your sins on it then killing to show the wages of sin. Those laws where written by Moses and where followed all the way up till the Cross. They where a representation of Jesus' sacrifice. That's why when He died the curtain in the temple was split because the use of sacrifices was no longer needed. It didn't mean that pigs where suddenly clean meat.
Mark 7:18 outside things entering into a man do not defile him 19 b/c it does NOT enter his heart 20 But what comes out of that mans mouth defiles him.
Don't get me started on alcohol... We need a touch more balance and conviction in the arena of gossip and slander and maybe a little about complaining.
Those are A LOT more addictive than alcohol that "Goes into your mouth" unlike the above mentioned that "Come out of your heart".
Some people get angry and loud granted but others can be funny and witty. Depends what is in the heart to start with. Alcohol just lowers the discretion barrier. It doesn't put the evil into a man's heart.
@gsixty Whether a person gets loud and angry, or happy and funny, they both swear and do things that a normal sober minded person does not do. It lowers your perceived IQ, it lowers your standards, and it lowers your ability to make good and righteous decisions. You are only fooling yourself if you think you can keep drinking and also claim to be a Christ following Christian.
doug batchelor is one of the most well versed and brilliant students of the bible in our modern times! He is an expert in the prophecy of the bible and his understanding and wisdom of biblical things should be taken into very careful consideration by all!
