She's got a nice sound, and her improv is rather exceptional. I will say though that her range was a little on the safe side. It lacked the roller coaster up and downs in terms of pitch and fluctuation. Not saying that that's always necessary, but I felt a little wanting in more of her improv; just one good well toned altissimo at the end or somewhere in the middle or end of the improv would've done it.

@jburkejburke1 Shes not even close to Dave Koz, Dave plays mostly boring smooth jazz and slow phased songs and instrumental pop. Kaori does everything in jazz fusion. You can see this from her awesome jazz fussion improvisation. Just like @starbrightjp said ppl are inclined to say her music smooth jazz but shes everything. Don't compare her to straight ahead jazz etc tho.

@GaryNjl Theres nothing special about her sound bc she is working within a smooth jazz composition. like all smooth jazz artist, there is a beautiful subtle abstraction paired with over simplified subordinate melody and rhythm, creating a smooth yet kitsch sound. however, i do appreciate it fusing other styles in to one cohesive piece, and it is definitely part of jazz history. shes the bob ross of sax. nuff said. guys appreciate w/e ya wants
