@perunas80 I understand. I wish I could go back too. Enjoy your time now as it comes and goes very fast and you'll look back on these days with envy as well. make them count!!!
i love hearing your stories about old time bodybuilding heroes like you and arnold, franco and zane and draper, mike kats and other great bodybuilders, thanks very much for sharing your stories and looking forward to hearing more.
Thanks for sharing Ric! Your laid back style and motivational stories are definitely worthwhile....like many others I'm inspired by the 60's and 70's.....from music to bodybuilders to muscle cars. I'm in my 40's and relate to the nostalgia. Thanks bro!
As a high school student in LA from 66-70, I used to walk past the original Gold's Gym in Venice as I headed to the beach near Santa Monica pier during summer vacation. I remember the first time I saw Larry Scott large and it literally astonished me that a man could have arms that large and muscular. Often you'd see BB's at the outdoor weight pit working out together, and it seemed they all were very good natured and simply enjoying life. Ric's correct, the comraderie has vanished. It's a shame
@ricdrasin Ric can you please tell me how long did Arnolds average workout last when preparing for contest. 1 hour 2 hour etc ..was it 1.5 hours twice a day ?
Your a liar, you weren't in pumping Iron, Arnold never talks about you in interviews or big events, and I don't see you in any videos in pictures with him, and why do put your self in Arnolds place and make it seem when you were like the center of attention? You make Arnold seem like the bad guy, you never lifted with him because if you did for 4. Years I'd know about you but I haven't until I saw this vid.
Have i heard right your bench press was about 455 pounds for 2 reps by bodyweight of 218 pounds? That sounds great presentation concidering you were not power lifter. Was that weight usually use by most guys back then?
@pumping2 I started training as a Powerlifter. It gave me a good base for bodybuilding. Back then not many did 400 lb benches Most trained with 225 to 300
Ric, I would like to see a video based on the pharmacology of the sport back then. Not who was doing what or anything in detail, but how many mg's/wk was an average cycle? Why are guys now so sloppy on Dbol but back then seemed to stay conditioned all year? Why was gyno so rare even though there was little knowledge of anti estrogens and Cyle therapy? I've heard the main ones were primo, dbol, deca, also how common was it to have test in a cycle? Were most cycles no test cycles? I love ur vids!
what do you think is a better method for building muscle, a full body workout with basic exercises such as the squat, bench press, barbell rows, and deadlifts, or to do split body part workouts?
Ric! These are great! I wish I trained back in the 70's, bodybuilding has totally changed. My goal is to get to Arnold's stats and your videos and insight experience is great and fun to watch. Keep up the great work!
hi ric , good info videos . i was wondering if you have any stories on frank richards , i am his nephew and frank is training and is back in excellent shape for 64 years lol .he has told me stories from the past and it sounded like you had an awsome time - it would be good to here from someone like your self , cheers james
Cool stories. But did you have a job? How did you all afford to live by the beach, train in the gym all day, hang out by the pool, eat at restaurants, etc? Did you make a living out of bodybuilding?
I can hear that you get really emotional when you talk about that time. You must really had a great great life back then. Thanks for sharing and please let us hear more of these stories. :)
EXCELLENT Rick, I wish you eventually tell gym stories about Franco Columbu, Kent Keuhn, Mike Mentzer, Kenny Waller, etc.... this is the most PRICELESS information on YouTube as this is the "real stuff" from you, much appreciated my friend!!! 5*****

MIlk is a waste and fattening as well. You really don't need it. Better off with low fat cottage cheese which is actually whey protein
ricdrasin 3 months ago
@ricdrasin why low fat cottage cheese? is it better than full cream cottage cheese.
