Yeah, I agree. A buffalo taken down by one single bullet wouldn't happen. Still, it's an awesome scene and very well done. Even people who don't like this film will attest that this scene was very well done.
This is awesome footage! Being a nitpicker I would only question the buffalos dropping from one arrow shot, more then likely the would run and then bleed out. And two, the henry rifle dumb bear is carrying was woefully underpowered and would have been hardpressed to bring down a buffalo. It was ballistically similar to a modern .38 special. Fired from a handgun with a 4inch barrel! That scene where he dropped that bull with one shot never would have happened. ( Yes, shut up and enjoy the movie
Love this scene of the movie so much that I did a custom VHS artwork of it and is up for all to see on You Tube.Check it out. I only wished there was a Dances with Wolves- part 2. Thanks for putting this video up as well.
Has anyone out there read "Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee" or "Centennial"?
Watching this makes me really feel emotional...having read those books, knowing that these beautiful people & amazing culture will all come to an end.
Yo creo que lo del teniente Dunbar se hubiera solucionado con una excedencia, evidentemente por incompatibilidad, de un año. No era necesario abandonar el ejército, aunque, claro, por vivir esta cacería yo hubiera dado cualquier cosa.
look onto my people, look at them, they lived in eden, look at what you have done to us, you destroyed the last hope this world had for true freedom,, some day the u.s. soldiers will hunt all of us down thats right even you..
if only the meat we eat was still acquired in this honest and natural way, i would eat meat. we are a culture of cowards and have no connection with anything, and the animals we eat live dreadful lives and are massacred in cowardly, inhumane ways and no one has to look at it
This song makes you truly feel like you were there to witness this tribe in their prime. Like you were one of them. The majesty and respect is all there.
@bgberger2 Nope, it's the liver. They aren't anywhere near the buffalo's head, re-watch the clip again and pay attention. Also, do a little research online if you want even more proof. Not the tongue.
Yeah i can see where you could hear that. But if you listen seconds before and after the people are calling out in Lakota which sounds very similar as well. It could go either way.
Smiles A Lot seriously almost dies in the movie alot. I'm so glad he didn't, he's my favorite character! And when he killed that soldier in the massacre, I was like "HELL YESSS!". Puwaha. Love this movie(:
if U di dnot get massage, no help. will always stay stuped.barbarians ruined one culture, same like now, anglos are looking for new colonies, starts wars, we do not live in cililizations, we are slaves of 5% who control all Earth and it started as this,we don't need banks, media, plazma tv, life starts and ends with birth and death, do U understand that?
You know, this is the only song that doesn't appear on the soundtrack and it's a shame because it's one of the best songs in the movie. They have the music leading up to the hunt, but not this track. I can't find it anywhere!
Hunting-wise, I think the only benefit of a gun was that it was more long range. Both arrows and bullets pierced animals, and arrows were much faster to load and fire than some guns. Arrows just could't go as fast or as far as bullets.
Gemma when we partyed with G.Greene we had one of the best times of our lives ...It was in B.C. at his lounge/bar.Another tax 'write-off' he mentioned...a gentleman and a wise old owl...his words, the latter.

someone should report this to the RSPCA, shooting dead animals is naughty and illegal.
how did this scene get put in a film when it's animal cruelty at its worst
Bad, dude! Gangsterymotherflipper!

@BAMitsZAK watch the movie - the scenes of dead ARE NOT real. The hunting scenbes were likewise "staged" - stampede real but take downs not real.

all the music tracks are listed on Wikipedia, just search for 'dances with wolves soundtrack'
jpbroadwater 3 years ago
Oh sweet, thanks I finally found it! Appreciate it.
kkarls1 3 years ago
There is an expanded version of this sountrack on 2 CD's. There are some "lost" tracks "fire Dance", film version of buffalo hunt and so on.
BTW - hats are pretty annoying. Harrison Ford lost it many times on "Last Crusade". :D Still life, aye? ;)

The music is good, but could go a little lighter on the trumpet and more actiony.
