  • I have long sought to become one of solitutde within the Catholic Church, but find from the orders I have inquired from that I am too old. How can they say that I am too old to follow Christk who has been wooing me since I was young? Were you able to choose the habit you wanted, or was there suggestions, then compromising about the habit until you finally found one that you liked and were confortable in???

  • Hi Smallkerryman

I find your viewpoint interesting. Actually, I am fully aware of where and how religious life was formed and it wasn't always celibate. The Benedictine vows I made are for obedience to my church and Community life, stability in my life of prayer, and conversion of life. Benedictines do not make a formal vow of celibacy. I have been living as a religious for 10 years now and am fully supported by my Bishop and local church. I am Anglican, not Roman Catholic.

  • This makes a mockery of Religious life and vows both of marriage and monastic. How selfish! You are taking all the external trappings of Catholicism without any of the responsibilities or accountability. Wearing habits and belts! What a joke, you don't have a clue where these traditions come from. I feel sorry for your husband and daughter as you do your play acting as a fake nun. It's about time you got honest with yourself and stop playing games.

  • Interesting viewpoint @SMALLKERRYMAN, as her husband I would disagree. She has a harder time with the responsibilities or accountability than an enclosed order. Unlike other orders where you are responsible to God and your Superior, Sr Therese is accountable to God, her family, church community, parish priest, bishop (as she has a diocesan licence) and COS....

  • Respond to this video... @SMALLKERRYMAN

As for not knowing where the traditions come form, I suspect that it is you who is not going back far enough to the desert farther and mother and instead drawing from more resent tradition. I hope and pray that God uses this to wake you up from your preconceptions and that you remember to ask questions before making such assumptions. Yours in Chirst, Chris

  • Thank you for sharing this beautiful induction into the Order of Solitude!
