Hey Jason. Thanks a million for the work you put into this series of tutotials. They were a huge help in learning to use Eagle. This is my first board, so this series really got me up and going quick. Can you recommend a board house. I am considering using DorkbotPDX. They are in the US and seem like a good service that needs the business support.
@fishonthefly1 I have been using Gold Phoenix for the last 10+ years. They are located in China, but I deal directly with the rep in Canada. Email your Gerber files to Shane at sales (at) goldphoenixpcb (dot) biz for a quote. Usually around $110 for a batch of 1000 square cm. They fix your design into that area as many times as possible. So depening on your board size, your count of boards will vary.
Big thanks. I'm a total noob to design. I tried eagle 6 years ago and fell on my face. With this tutorial I have a fundamental concept of what I'm doing. You've saved beginners like me a ton of time and frustration. Your a BOSS.
Thank you Jason for setting aside some time to make these videos. Just finish watching the whole series. This is a great starting point for anyone who is new to this software.
really nice work. Ur English is very easy to listen to, even for german students at University.. This really helped all of us out! Nice speed on ur actions, but sometimes it would've been nice if u put in a little stop or break so that one can watch u at first, then do it on his own without having to stop the video.
@CaliberMengsk Just like to let you know that because of your videos I now have my own arduino circuit with a built in 5v regulator. It even passes the DRC check (which you may want to mention they have that test somehow. Very useful.)
Thanks Great series learned a lot. Where can I go and done load all the libraries available that way can build anything without having to create a component.
Hi Jason, thanks a lot for those wonderful presentations. I'm going to do some more complicated projects and on the first step found a "hard nut to crack". For example - how can I connect Vdd and Vcc to CD4511 or any other logic devices when I making a schematics. Thanks a million for yor answer and best regards.
Excellent. Everything i read said the Eagle UI would take time to learn but you made it so easy ! Thanks for taking the time and congrats on doing such a great job. The only problem i had was trying to delete the component values off the silk screen where some values could not be picked-up to be moved or deleted and even in full zoom the wanted silk-screen kept getting grabbed instead. Not a huge problem if one makes sure the values are kept further from the components in schematic mode.
@Lakes57 They can be if you want your board to be grounded through the mounting holes. Your other option is just standard mounting holes, that are isolated from the circuit completely. That will be one of the subjects I talk about in the 12th lesson.
Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to produce these tutorials. Is there any chance you might extend the series with a couple of videos on board layout design? For example when to use ground planes, how to choose the correct track size, how to avoid rookie design mistakes, etc. Many thanks.
Excellent series, thank you very much for documenting this! I have gone from not being able to design a board to making some great layouts which have helped me in my work considerably.
Just watched your whole series -- when I first downloaded EAGLE, I was thinking WTF is going on?!? Now I have a good grasp of how this works, thank you so much!
Thank you for the lessons. Decades ago I did high density single side TCXO's and their test fixtures, If this would of been around then we could of done a lot more in a week. Now I'm just a hobbyist with a small mill and if I can import into Sketchup I'm good to go.
Thanks The lessons are really good. Can you tell me if I just want to make a single sided board at home, how can i print the layers separately, like pads, tracks and silk scren etc.
Sir Jason thank you very much for this great and wonderful tutorial you posted here, it really helps newbies like me to fabricate our own pcb's. I thought i would never learn to use pcb software tools like this one because i tried others already but it was too complicated for me, especially without a video tutorial like yours. Again thank you very much, your one of the best things that happen on Youtube :)

Hi Jason, first of all, thank you for the excellent series. I have a question hopefully you could include on the lesson 12. Could you please explain how to make any changes in the schematic once you have created the board files? In other words, say I need to make v2 of the board adding some new components in schematic, do I need to start from scratch with the board?
Jason, I just wanted to take a moment and thank you for a very nice tutorial. The tutorial was both interesting and enlightening, because you are a very good speaker as well as teacher. Cadsoft should compensate you :) I am certain their software sales will escalate due to your generousity and professionalism.
Thank you Jason. Just finished watching from L1 thru L11. I am a beginner, and learnt a lot. Extremely helpful. Is L12 also uploaded? I couldn't find it.
Thanks so much! Great introduction to the software! Been using DipTrace for a while now as it seemed a bit easier and more intuitive to use and get into than Eagle (at least for newbies!), but I think I'm ready for the switch! Thanks a lot! I'm gonna download the trial right now and try it out.
Thanks Jason! I had purchased Eagle Cad over a year ago and was lost. Set the thing to the side in disgust till I happened to see your tutorials. The tutorials were great - you may have missed a calling in education!
I sent my design to a boardhouse, and they told me that it does not have an outline/perimeter. I followed your tutorials, and could not figure out what I did wrong. Do you have any idea?
Did you send it to Gold Phoenix? If so, they always request a border be added in silkscreen. Use the line tool, select the top silkscreen layer and draw a border line all of the way around your board. Re-generate the gerbers and you should be ok.
This was good! You make it "funny" and easy to learn. Best tutorial for Eagle so far. Keep up the good work, and im looking forward to any future tutorial that you create! Kind regards Alex (sweden)
How can you add a set of pads for installing a heat-sink for the voltage regulator in your circuit?
Also, EAGLE is referred to as "hobby quality" software. I like EAGLE, but eventually I'd like to learn to use a professional PCB layout editor. Can you make a video where you discuss the specific features that separate a hobby software from a professional software for pcb layout, please.
I want to make my own circuit boards, and I was wondering if you could make a video about it. I know there are a lot out there, but they don't show the part between designing it and printing it. If you could fill in that part, I would be very grateful. Thanks for your tutorial. They are great.
Awesome Videos!
