Blizzard can view your source code and ban you if they detect it, they can see if anything aren't as it should be, trust me I asked a GM about it, cause i was model hacking my tauren into a nelf!

You should probably re-read the ToS. As long as they don't give you an unfair advantage they can ban you. But if it's something simple as Vampirez0 says, they wont ban you. Yea, this was before an update to MPQ files so go to your Data folder and instead of:

patch-4.mpq

change to

patch-4.MPQ

should work.

its called model editing/swapping...editing MPQ files to change models/skins...obviously -.-...NOT cheating...you cannot use this method to your advantage(changing skins/NPC/character models) but changing game objects such as a campfire to lets say, a dark portal, THAT is cheating and is an instant perm ban :)
