  • Hi there! I'm French too, and I know a pretty good one: Va chercher ce chat chez ce cher Serge. It means "Go get that cat at dear Serge's." It has the same "ss" vs "sh" sounds as the "chausette de l'archiduchesse" one, but I personally find it harder to say. :)

  • Nice & useful.. I'm just learning French :-)

  • I'm having a lot of trouble attempting to say that tongue twister, but you make it seem effortless.

  • il s'appelle doublidou ;)

  • @himynamesrhys oh yeah that's right! When in doubt, I should always go with the Wheezy Waiter option. I'll remember next time! :)

  • chu quebecois :D

  • what about "dindon doué"?

  • @NlCK93 I know lots more, but I didn't have much time in which to do the video and I didn't think Hank would need more than a couple, but that's a good one too :)

  • oh sorry, i didnt see you did that one, i just thought there was the first one :D very cool still! :D haha

i find it very cool you got on the vlogbrothers video :D

  • @lara77041 yes, me too... I still can't believe it! :D

thank you, and congratulations on getting all of the accents right in that sentence, I know it can be quite difficult for non-native speakers! (actually... even for native speakers. French is a pretty tricky language now that I think about it.)

  • @sarahetcaetera little do you know I am french too ;D it's true :D but i agree that it's one of the hardest languages to learn!!

  • @lara77041 Oups, sorry about that false assumption... I just watched your most recent video and you didn't have too much of an accent and I didn't look any further... Now that I've seen your video about who to support for the World Cup, I get it.

Also, yay to being multi-cultural! I'm from 3 different continents too :D

  • Blimey, those are really tongue twisting :S

& I love the way you sound when you speak French :)

  • @gideon1451 I know, right? I had to do 15 takes until I got all of them right... and I've known these for ages!

    and... thank you :)

  • One that I've always liked is "Si mon tonton tond ton tonton, ton tonton est tondu par mon tonton.

  • @fizzylimon I actually considered putting it in, but then I remembered that the translation sounds a little... strange :)

also, I'm a fan... so a comment from you is a pretty big deal :D

  • Well you are just lovely :)

  • @snecko thank you :)

  • Since i'm from across the channel... this is just hellishly fun to try

  • @gits4eva haha I would love to hear them said in an English / Scottish / Irish / Welsh accent.

  • that's so cooool! French is such a beautiful language

  • @alexisoviedo100 thank you! :)

  • I did two of these in my video but I'm not a native speaker. It sounds so much prettier when you say them! :-)

  • @tat2dfrenchie awww, thank you! I listened to yours too, and your accent is excellent, especially considering that tongue twisters are so hard to say no matter how well you speak a language...

  • @sarahetcaetera awww, thank YOU! that's such a nice compliment! they were so much fun to say, I was so glad I tried!
