Good stuff. I luje that you didnt help out sagat, but why the hell you helped seth and akuma. They raped gief all the time just like sagat just that they have no life.
@tubersanthosh That isn't what a safe jump means. Safe jumping means jumping into somebody when they can't anti-air you. For example, if you jump towards them as they're getting up. So you time it so you can attack them right as they get up. Also, if you jump in on a whiffed attack, that could be a safe jump. A common beginner mistake is to just frequently jump into somebody who is standing there ready to anti-air.
To be honest, I find Option Select to be lame. The whole point of fighters is to have mind games and out think your opponent. You dont have to think if you option select, as it keeps you safe no matter what
Just so you know, Seth's ultra at 3:21 had to be EX Tanden. It's the only EX move in the game that takes away two meter, and that's what happens when Seth uses it.
@PhilomathBret It has been a year since you asked this question, but in case you still don't know what a meaty is, you are essentially correct on your guess. Throwing out a move so that the hitbox is already active when your opponent wakes up is a meaty.
The purpose of a meaty is to limit your opponent's wakeup options to blocking or a move with start-up invincibility (shoryuken for example). It's ideal for beating people that jump or mash light pokes on wakeup. Most safe jumps are meaties.
@NarugaDenka Thanks! I actually thought it was more specific than that and that it meant you're making the end of the attack's active frames connect first as they're waking up. I thought I heard that this somehow improves your frame advantage (although that didn't really seem right to me).
@PhilomathBret It can improve your frame advantage depending on which active frame of the move makes contact, block stun, and recovery frames.
One good example and the only SF related one that comes to my mind from experience (because I mained her) is that if you were to throw out f+MK with Sakura on someone's wake-up (let's pretend they can't do a reversal) and it lands meaty on the last couple of active frames (it's blocked), she's as safe as she would be from landing it max range.
vipers wasnt that good.. all one has to do is block high.... instead of backdashing... thus the optionselect wouldnt really work all that well most would block it instead of backdashing away anyway
How's this gonna help without inputs? :S I was just happy when I found this video...

What is a safe jump round house? I thought safe jump meant not doing any move while jumping? Can anyone tell me?

how does option works because i would really like to use it. I know its about pressing two buttons at the same time i think
thebest852 2 years ago
Essentially option select is buffering two moves at the same time.
The easiest one to explain is the crouching jab/tech in third strike.
You hit cr.Jab and try to throw at the same time.
If they don't try and throw you, you'll jab.
If they try and throw you, you'll tech the throw.
It basically gives the computer a choice, and it picks the best one for the situation.
k1ngch0wm31n 2 years ago
So for example the Akuma one, you do the dive flip then hit throw and immediately mash SRK?

@ranix78 What does "meaty" mean? I couldn't find it when I googled for it. Is it hitting somebody on wakeup?
