  • sax part will never stop to a maze me, love homer in sunglase

  • The best band ever!!!!!

    Up The Residents!!!!!

  • NORMAL LIFE

  • i love this mainly b/c my name is eloise :)

  • iread about these guys in the la weekly recently,,,,so me wanting to always hear something new or in this case something old checkd thses guys out and i think they are fuckin ridiculous,,,frank zappa is much better and way more talented how can someone compare a genius to these guys who prolly need mental help

  • @jimmefoxx Because Zappa has nothing on these bad boys? Some albums are hit and miss, but it's usually just a few songs are miss. The lyrics are genius, the music is something to concentrate on and the videos are trippy as hell!

  • @edwatom can you recommend me something good by this band then? please and thank you

  • @jimmefoxx Watch "One Minute Movies", "Third Reich N Roll" and "Man's World" also "Godsong" is pretty pro. They're all quite different.

  • can't stop watching it...

  • Do they understand themselves ?

  • one of my many favz

  • What year? Mid 80's?

  • @KoivuTheHab The film is from 1972, the music is from the mid 80's

  • 0:44 O.K., who pissed off Bill Nye?

  • This would have gotten more media-attention if it had happened now, definately more than Lady Ga-ga performing with a strap on dick... But you guys would probably be better off listening to her than trying to enlighten your lives with stuff you don't understand. Yes, I'm a crusty;)

  • @atzenanu Lady Ga Ga ?.. I think these guys are more similar to The Blue Men.

  • @Skulldini I made no comparison to her, i stated that they would have gotten more media attention than she receives now, if they had done this NOW in stead of 35 years ago. And the elite club Blue Men are a joke compared to these gods. Blowing on plastic tubes is nice, but covering The Who and Pink Floyd was trying a bit too high i think, nice though but NO art....

  • @atzenanu I wasn't puting them on same artistic level. Hell, they perform on the Jay Leno Show, the Vegas stage and tv comercials wheres THESE guys ( ???? ) were totaly from way beyond the fuckin fringe ! I guess I meant that if they were to be compared, even remotely, to anything around today then they'd probably be the closest thing ( I supose ).

  • @atzenanu And of course Ga Ga is more along the lines of sensationalistic pop acts like Micheal Jackson, Madona,.. maybe even Marilyn Manson a bit with some of her more lurid and infamous stunts ( like that dildo buisiness ). Anyway, you're right,.. Ga Ga is Ca Ca !

  • Just for all the ignorant people who call this crap, noise, bad, weird sounds, no quality. Please leave no more comments like this just because you can't grasp it. THIS is art in it's true form done by the greatest band of all times (at least they were) ànd this was done 35 years ago.

  • this is definatly weirder than primus

  • Are these guys dangerous?

  • There are some Residents songs I like but god is this terrible. Sounds like such an incoherent mass of noise. If you like this you might like another band called Ruins.

  • "an incoherent mass of noise" - as opposed to ? Heavy Metal? Rap? Country? Opera? What's disturbing is that I find their music relaxing and tranquil, soothing and calming.

  • Not so much an incoherent mass of noise but more of making weird sounds just for the sake of weird sounds. Not much musical quality in this song.

  • Hence the mass appeal. They were the forerunners of trance, and rave music.

  • I still don't think this is a good song. There are better Residents tunes.

  • or better drugs. Going in either direction will have the desired effect. The worse a resident's song/video is, the stronger the drugs. ymmv

  • ??? this song actually has a sense of rhythm compared to some of their other songs?

  • @centrerightpunk The song 'Eloise' may have a more developed sense of rhythm because was written in 1967/68 for Barry Ryan by his twin brother Paul Ryan ... originally timed at 5:41, The Damned got this down to a more listener friendly 5:11 (different 12 inch mix on GRIM T4) ... chessmeister is right, but being part of that 'money making machine' the music industry, however reluctantly, means pushing those boundaries (Devo/Philip Glass/John Cage/Eno) Remember send giftstel a Valentine!

  • other songs without rhytm???? Which ones? Remember that Hardy loves the drums...

  • I agree with FlametopFred ... have been in music since 1972 and this is more like Willie Wonka meets the Penguin after a particularly hard drinking session with Alex from 'A Clockwork Orange' and losing in a sing off with the late great Klaus Nomi. Melody reminds me a bit of Electric Prunes jamming with Sesame Street - accompanied by the abominable Dr Phibes on slide guitar and wah-wah

  • that was the most insightful comment i've ever heard.

  • Thanks, I still feel The Residents pain after the loss of their friend and fellow anarchistic collaborator late great Snakefinger Who coincident;y died on the same day his last single 'There's No Justice In Life' was released - is it me or does that smack of irony.

  • I think they're making a mockery of this particular genre of music they're imitating. I get the feeling their music isn't written to be enjoyed... They are writing about the music industry and making fun of those artists who are now celebrities.

  • @chessmeister I love you.

  • @giftdistel I love you too. <3 The only truly perfect love is the one that gets away...

  • I could be your lover if it weren't for Mother.

  • I'm nothing but a nice old man... who plays the violin.

  • This is REAL Residents with all members, not the stripped Homer-show from today...I'll be going to see them in april, hope they play it;)

  • @atzenanu

I have heard Hardy is still with them. Still though, shhh... YouTube doesn't need to know. They're not cultured enough.

  • @Cornbread521 Ruins is a Japanese "band" who make experimental crap, sorry. If you still make noise like this in the year 2000 it means you missed something along the way. It's called progress... But if you like it it's your choice. Again, even Lady CACA has fans;)

  • Bless you for this upload

  • THIS IS (sparta) AVANT-GARDEEEEEE!!!

  • It is a group you'll never understand.

  • that is clearly homer flynn

  • 41-43

Just look at his mouth and listen to the voice

  • In my opinion it's the best band of all the times. Best for music and iconography, and best mix of visual and musical elements. Alfred Jarry should be proud of them.

  • squisitamente inquietante

  • This IS the dogz!!!!!!!

  • There was a comment (residents website?) that through the years, there's been about a hundred "residents" -and another good reason to keep the obscurity up. I'm sure there's been a number of high profile celebs that have enjoyed some anonymity being a resident.

  • You will always see their names as contributors on any given music piece. We're all Residents!!!!

  • I was just reading something about the residents, actually about villeness fats, and i read that this is scene in the night club and that the lead singer is N. Senada him self.

  • I've heard the same thing. But, considering how things go with The Residents, I've always been lead to believe that they made up N. Senada as part of the group's apocryphal lore. Maybe not, though.

  • Some say that he's actually Captain Beefheart though I doubt that.

  • Senada = Homer;)

  • Nah the singer is the same as singer as now!!!! As always will be. You can see that it's HF

  • Watch "The residents - In benefit for mr kite" then see the difference.

  • @obitrsa N Senada = Homer Flynn...

  • what r they sayyin cas i cant under stand sum of this =]

  • mortimer snerd

  • Listening to The Residents is like reading E. M.Cioran: is the oposite of everything else, but when you get use to it then it becomes more real than anything else.

  • You are so right.

  • ????? Who plays the saxaphonist?

  • I think it's Homer Flynn

  • Saxophonist/singer is played by Homer Flynn, probably the main singer of The Residents.

  • You couldn't be any more correct!!!

  • >>????? Who plays the saxaphonist? [sic]

Could be a "Resident", one of their management/crew, or one of the dozens of actors from the Vileness Fats film project from which tihs clip was taken. The band has their own strong philosophical reasons for working in anonymity.

  • Thank's a lot Casanovabob for posting all those Masterpieces!By the way ,if yu like the "bizarre", just have a look to the short movies I make with toys by clicking on megatchol

  • It's a postcard from my mind

  • Has to be my favorite.

  • Residents fans always have the most interesting comments.

  • Shucks, I'm a girl. I need to find these fellas.

  • @LadySaiko saiko get out of sl

  • @LadySaiko Look at me I'm a girl. I will continue to point this out in the things I say and my usernames. Obey me.

  • @indexppeuc PS You have a really ugly avatar

  • Rock opera on acid

  • because satchmo played sax...

  • Oh, this brings back so many memories. "Video Voodoo!"

  • Thanks for posting!

    Always love to see it.

  • At the end of the nights

    The slobbering pink tights

Aaaaaaah! Ergh! It split me in two

    Like a beam

Or edge of a blade of another nightshade!

Did I cry out after all that I heard?

Eh, eh, eeeeh! No no no!

Never a word from this Mortimer Snerd!

  • A LEGEND IS YOU

  • The foul flavour of vermin coated my nostrils like a seething hatred

The stitch of bitch was more than a breathing body could understand

But all bodies don't breath, do they, Eloise?

No -- some play by the night

    And bubble with scorn

And feed on the needs of the never-been-born

Oh God! How I hated that day of all days

  • The STENCH of bitch.

  • it's more than a breathing body can stand

  • WeeEeScooSA!

  • im Eloise :P cause i rawk :P

  • It is he.

  • nah its not him, they hired actors didn't they?

  • but its N. Senada!

  • indeed!

  • dude im not sure but im thinking that that IS homer, cuz if you pay attention, in the other videos or concerts, homer has all those kinda stiff movements, but then again, im not sure

  • The Stench....of BENCH!

  • I'd love to get the lyrics to this , it's annoying beyond belief to have it in my head all day long and not actually know the words.

  • So, is that really N. Senada playing the night club singer?

  • months before i even knew who the residents were i had a dream just like this. its really creepy, but really awsome i found this. i love the residents.

  • No eyeball head masks. So this is what they look like.

  • no dude, they hired actors! but they might be those masked trombone guys

  • i know theyre washing my brain! it sucks! but i cant stop watching their videos XD

  • keep in mind this video is over 20 years old. You need to see the other vids.

  • the residents rock, funk, salsa and much more!!

  • i wonder if david lynch was influenced by the residents. . .

  • At one point in time, The Residents and David Lynch were to work on a TV series together, but it was to strange for the networks.

  • Crispin Glover would have been great in that mix.

  • waohhhhhhhh!!! I should be hating this stuff... but its awesome!

  • the residents don't rock....which makes them special.

    fucking excellent
