What a lovely song! That's pretty cool and I take my hat off to the effort which has been made to do this video. I am a London Underground employee myself and even though I work on the leafy Metropolitan Line now I use the Northern every day, I have worked on the Northern too. The song sums up the nature of the line I reckon, it's a very cultural line, lots of colourful characters!!! Well done.
Hi there, thanks for the reply. Well, good on you for getting your work out there. I was honestly just giving my opinion and to be fair, I do rate your drive and determination. Gook luck with everything :)
"Don't you think it's a tad strange that the video AND the article in The Metro appeared simultaneously?"
I'd rather they reported on the dramatic hamster myself. Then at least we'd know what newspapers were reporting on before they actually reported about it.
Hi there Chrissie! Looks like our comments got deleted by the owner for profanity. Recap! I'd said it was a feelgood bit of fluff no more offensive than celebrity gossip. Then I called you a "c**t". You replied that that made me feel good, I should get out more. Then you called me a "t*at". I then looked up your previous comments, and discovered that you like Return To Oz, and was about to use that to say "well, we all have different shit things that make us feel good, don't we?"
Well done!! Great choice on crossing Westminster bridge and passing Big Ben instead of crossing Waterloo bridge. Loved it. Please also do High Barnet via Bank :)
Well done on all the publicity and all that, but do look up the word 'scansion' in the dictionary.
There's an artful way of cutting across the rhythm by changing metre', but some lines in the songs early on are just way too crammed and it doesn't work.
If there is one thing worse than Kate Nash (and that's debatable), it's people copying her mockney 'its saah hip in lahndun' schtick. The song is truly preposterous and smacks of fatuous self indulgence. The video suggests more boredom than creativity. Videos of cats being twats captures people's attention on here. It takes very little to amuse some.
If you like it, great. I think it's a waste of time and the song's annoying. The main point, however - which most of you seem to have ignored except Elsav2k - is that it's so lame that it does not, by any stretch of even limited imaginations, deserve a full-page spread in the Metro. And I'm POSITIVE about that.
This is fantastic ! The song is very Kate Nash but why on earth anyone thinks that's a bad thing is beyond me, it's cleverly written, well sung and goes perfectly with the video. As Andy Gray would say "Take a bow son" ;o)
No matter how much people don't rate this, or don't like this, they(the videl makers) got a full page in Metro, and will probably go on from this to make real money. Probably a lot more than the people who are condemning it :-)
Poor Elsav2k sounds a touch bitter and jealous. I'm stuck wondering why they didn't use their creativity to do something similar instead of venting it all on negative youtube comments
I ride the northern line everyday and despite its delays I still love the tube, it is the most interesting and unique transport network in the world. Yet I, like other people here find this video utterly pointless, I have gained nothing from it and fail to see how it is a commentary on 'what we love and hate about London' as you have said in your interview in the Metro...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
On that note I can't believe this got a whole page in the Metro when there are far far more creative people in London who do not get this kind of recognition! Making a video using Google Streetview is the first thing every creative person thought of doing, u just happened to be the first. Oh and the singer in copying Kate Nash. Extremely unimpressed by the whole thing mate.
to be fair matey, if its the first thing every creative person thought of doing, then why was it not done till now? It's easy to say once it has been done. I like it - it's a quirky take on what is a massive part of London life.
I agree with you, and I suppose you can give them credit on being the first to do it even if they weren't the first to think of it, but what I can't understand is how it got a full page in the Metro!? and why they are being revered as cutting edge creative geniuses!
Sure, there might be other creative people in London, but this has obviously tapped into something that appeals to a lot of people. I think it's great.
It must be hard work for you, as the person who feels obliged to comment on every pointless video on YouTube. You've made a rod for your own back there, my love.
How long did it take you to go through all those tube stations on street view?

I think that the enjambment is one of the best things about this song. The metre's as overcrowded as the carriages. Great stuff.

Like most of you I read this in the Metro today and really quite like it. The song's quirky and the concept is interesting.
The people being negative about this video shouldn't be given much attention, after all London is the capital of cynicism and it's to be expected :)
I recently left the homeland of London for another country and miss it awfully, It's chip cheery stuff like this that puts a smile on my face.
