I'm Ecuadorian, living in England for 14 years and am so happy to go back home next year for good. I'm proud to hear you guys are welcome by the humble, kind and polite Ecuadorian people, it's not the same for us when we emigrate, you know. Anyway; because of my late husband most of my friends in Ecuador are either Europeans or NorthAmericans, I know you apreciate our culture adnd integrate. Ecuador is a paradise compared to other LA countries. I'm from 1 of the hot part of the country: CHONE!
hey guys.. This is Alex from Greece and i am planning to move to Vilcabamba soon (in less than a month) in order to buy land and create a sustainable farm.. Already got a friendly couple already living there, so i hope things will not turn out to be too hard to deal with paperwork/titles/residency visas etc.. Hope to see you there ;)
I wanted to send my love to Alara. As someone who has traveled a lot, know that you will be fine. There is also a bit of culture shock, even when things are wonderful.
Wow - this video really touched me! Alara, you are such a genuine, soulful person and it's clear that you have a truly caring and grounding partner in Zack. Much happiness to you both!
Okay Alara, I am here in Texas so happy you are explaining so much I wanted to know about it there, and all of the sudden....why am I crying ....LOL!!! Overwhelming..that is the word you needed. :) Any move brings new challenges, but they are all worth it when you ultimately know it will bring you a better quality of life. Tears of appreciation for what the universe has in store, are the most beautiful tears of all!!
I would also love to send my love to Alara. I moved countries and was sick for the first month or so and all my defenses were down. I felt vulnerable and overwhelmed by all the new things I had to learn and process. When we get physically sick our emotions are raw and on the surface too and it feels like we are alone in this when others are settled and grounded around you... but you are always loved and supported regardless :) xx
A bit of culture shock? Sensitive people do get knocked around at first. I've experienced that. It fades the more you travel and is all part of it I guess :)
Alara is so precious. She must be from California tho. We have 10 acres in Florida and we grow tropical food wild on our property. It just sprouts whereever. We do plant stuff and have animals running around and really love it. Miss the winters and change of season, but we can grown things year round. There are places like that in US but no language issue. Oh wait, yes there is, this is Florida, you must speak spanish! You actually can be happy anywhere. I have learned that. Live in love.
Very nice and interesting to hear Alara speak, she touched my heart as she was so honest and I could feel her emotions which are a lot to take in it seems. The best to Alara and Zack and, of course, much love your way Mat, Angela, Alara and Zack. (( hugs ))
@inthepresentraw.. unless you are Alara's invisible Siamese twin.... it's presumptuous of anyone to tell her ...what HER journey ought to look like.
and to tell her not to make it so hard... those are YOUR issues. She's being real and open and....... if you cannot handle it ....perhaps....YOU need to take it easy.
It's adorable how you look at the future Mrs. Wood, Zack! And Alara, you have such a serene and sincere presence. One can feel it whether one is sitting at the next table to you at the Longevity Conference lunch break, or looking at a digital picture of you on YouTube. It's like your aura in endless! Much love to all of you in Vilcabamba!
Mother Nature needs more people like you guys on her side, not a single Human Soul of Animal would be made to suffer. We all need to evolve. And Alana is a beautiful soul, wish there were more females like that around, my luck I always end up with deceptive heartless psycho's. Maybe one day i'll bump into a normal chick. lol Peace and Love all.
Alara, Thanks for sharing so beautifully and from the heart. It takes courage to swim against the stream, but as more and more people realise the choices you are looking to make are the choices that are going to save our planet it will be easier. You don't need to do it alone. There are dynamic ways to engage with these choices that can be fun and energising.
heck girl that's some raw emotions ! I so understand the emotions of connecting to the truth of what life is suppose to be .it was very moving .I really want to visit and see what the culture and life is like it looks so interesting
Realize that the Kundalini of the Himalayan Mountains has been moved to Northern Chile & its Radiation effects the area you live in. People visiting that area will have an increase of emotional & physical detox. Plus making a decision to move to Ecuador could like Alara wishes can trigger a detox. They are a cute couple
Thank you so much for sharing! Truely going to be an amazing like minded community to be a part of. Wondeful to see :) much love and look forward to seeing more shows on the adventures you all will have together.
Alara strikes me as a city girl, almost a fish out of water down there. It is always good to push your envelope and challenge yourself like that; learning new languages, ways of life and environments. I wish I could join you guys so bad, y hablo espanol asi asi! Spanish is easy to learn especially in a place like Ecuador. I so wish I had the money to buy property down there in Vilcabamba. Maybe things will change for me in a few more years.
This was great, nice to get an overview of what one might feel when initially arriving. And what a great reminder that we take ourselves wherever we go!
cool!!! I took deet to the amazon and I think the bugs loves the flavor!!!! while there I went to see a waterfall and a man with a small shop was giving a free oil that he said was a natural bug repellent!! Later he told me it was citronella oil! I was covered from head to ankles !!when I took my shoes of the bugs attacked my feet! hahahaha!!
Dang that's why I love all you guys; you speak to the complicated even hard issues and to the beauty and hope inherent in our lives. It is important to stay in dialogue about place with ourselves and those around us, natives and transplants. I have traveled in C. and S. America and have seen the issues when (comparatively) monied people come into a place and employ/interact with the locals. But there is room in these situations, with care and dialogue, for mutual power and reciprocity.
@thisgirlshair "Language is key" and I agree, for building respectful relationships (aka ending racism ;)) kudos for learning the language and being thoughtful.(changing the accidentally term "foreigners" to "Inhabitants" is e.g. of how most of us (me) have inherent labels fm US white society to "delete" and replace w/accuracy.)
btw I was hoping 2 hear fm A&Z cool!
Awesome Alara!! *woot* such joy and humility and transparency regarding awe of growing things. Thank you for showing everything.
Planning my first trip to Vilcabamba this summer to possibly purchase land. Thanks for sharing your experience Alara. I was touched by your words and spirit.
I get the vibe that Alara really doesn't want to be there. Maybe to much culture shock.

I'm confused. Are Alara and Michelle the same person? I was just watching some earlier vids and Alara's name was Michelle.

Great to see you guys are liking it. Alara's feedback about the language barrier seems important. Might have to start learning Spanish :)
