And we only know what was said in interviews but never know what really happened behind closed doors. Both Phil and Dime where headed in different directions. Phil and Dime are both great mucisans. Its just a shame we wont get to see what Damageplan would have evolved into.

@cluodbebi wrong. dude is a far above what you have said. he has some of the best grooves and runs in the business. pantera wouldn't have been what they were without him. those 4 were completely in sync with each other. as someone else said, one of those pieces goes missing, and it doesn't work.
@rage2980 all of the later pantera albums (the best imo) are all attributed to heroin. his drug abuse is what made those lyrics and the animosity between the entire band that you can feel in them. especially in the great southern trendkill. as much as heroin is a shitty thing, it was what made pantera for the final 3 releases. a sober phil would have had a very different, and not half as powerful of effect. heavy drugs are a huge part in a lot of bands like that believe it or not.

@cluodbebi wrong. dude is a far above what you have said. he has some of the best grooves and runs in the business. pantera wouldn't have been what they were without him. those 4 were completely in sync with each other. as someone else said, one of those pieces goes missing, and it doesn't work.

@rage2980 all of the later pantera albums (the best imo) are all attributed to heroin. his drug abuse is what made those lyrics and the animosity between the entire band that you can feel in them. especially in the great southern trendkill. as much as heroin is a shitty thing, it was what made pantera for the final 3 releases. a sober phil would have had a very different, and not half as powerful of effect. heavy drugs are a huge part in a lot of bands like that believe it or not.

I actually like this song. I heard a few versions of this song. In my opinion, this version is the best. Different vocals than what is typical of Phil. Their vocals compliment each other well.

Even being born as far away as Scotland - this song still tugs on my heartstrings and keeps that Southern Demon alive in me! God fucking bless Phil, the heavy metal preacher who kept me going and helped keep my faith in the metal. I may have been born in the cold, wet north, but a Southern Man I Am without any hesitation.

Its about football, beer and a glossing over history, while it does actually have an astoundingly beautiful in-depth history. But there is magic in being Scottish, something from the purple haze covering everything that sings to a Celtic, Pictish, Scottish core.

Scotland is the northern part of brittain the south is called England, and yeah the highlanders have entirely way to much pride like many people here in the south US. In my expirience a great southern man is as hard to find as a great northern man. In general people are stupid no matter where they are from. A decent human being is hard to find. Thank god there is music.

@DimeLivesInUs not at all, pantera was truely a younger teenage faze for me. nowendays its sooooooooooooo corny.infact the only one of their cds i can honestly say i like is GSTK and i can SOMETIMES stomach a little far beyond (it depends). the rest to me is trash and all there albums are focused on the teenage audience and i dont qualify for that anymore.ITS POP MUSIC BABY!!!!!!!
