How to make your own Minecraft Bukkit server 1.1 | .jar file | PC & Mac

java -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar then plain text then i saved it as start.command then after that I went to terminal did chmod (space) a+x (space) put start command in then enter

@mashucha123 If you're getting that error, then there's something you've missed. Go back and try that part again. Watch the entire part before doing so though.

@Chimbolo31 Your script isn't right. Compare it to the script in the description which matches windows. If it's exactly the same, then get rid of the bottom line, and type; "%ProgramFiles%\Java\jre6\bin\­java.exe" -Xmx1024M -Xms1024M -jar craftbukkit.jar". If you installed java in the (x86) directory, then add that to the script before the last "%" sign.

In the tittle why do you say pc and Mac, a Mac is a pc

@MegaBitHead Because PC is mostly reffered to as having a windows operating system installed. You're right, it really doesn't make sense, but it's technically the same way as saying "Windows & OS X", although most would refer to "PC and Mac" because it could be windows xp you're talking about, or os x 6.0. It really varies.

@Tmanwoofer I have experienced this problem a few times too. I honestly don't know the solution to it, so the best advice I can give you is try restarting your mac. I really wouldn't know, so sorry about that. Maybe in the future I'll find a solution while messing around. That's commonly what happens with me. Kody

@985chicken If you use hamachi, they need it too. They then copy down your assigned hamachi ip. If you port forward, they need your external ip.

I noticed that you could just download the "example server" folder that he put in the description and just move your "minecraft server" runner into the folder and do just the last few steps or so and it will work (or should).

@EpicPandUhh Except you may need to use a newer server jar file (make sure it's the same name as in the server scrip, aka, runner) depending on whether you're using minecraft 1.0, 1.1, or prerelease 1.2.

@KLePTiicGaming I forgot to mention that. you have to take out the "craftbukkit.jar" that is in the "exampleserver" folder and replace it with the newest version. then rename the newest version to "craftbukkit.jar" if it isn't already or else it won't work.

If you're trying to connect multiple players to the server, watch the response video like advertised. I did eveverything right, and it doesnt work... When I save the start.command, I do not get an option for .txt files. I used a .rtf, then renamed it to .txt after, then renamed it .command, and it doesnt work... It might be my computer, its pretty old ( 10.5.8 ), but I dont know... Help?

@ejpowderhound It's not the computer or just because you have an older version of snow leopard. Although I have lion. Anyways, open text edit and just set the format to plain text. Don't copy and paste the script from the other file. Just delete that one. Also, the jar file MUST be the same as in the script.

Now one problem is that I'm not sure of whether this is 1.0.0 or 1.1 because so many source sites are down or having problems. Most of this is probably because of SOPA which is supposed to be resumed TODAY. It was paused on the 18th and that's when sites and people protested. Kody

@MultiGuyy That's okay... Download hamachi (link in the description after reading through for google; "download hamachi") and then power up hamachi. With a bukkit server it is expected that you've had a little bit of past experience on a default server, so I didn't provide surplus information. After downloading hamachi, it will assign you an IP that you will add into your server properties (no spaces) and in the minecraft multiplayer menu.) Have fun!

@michaelsana13 common problem :) just restart your pc or do ctrl+alt+delete then find the prosess called javaw.exe or javaw2.exe
