Why is it that white people find it necessary to draw on black ghetto culture as a source of humor rather than use their own white culture as a source of inspiration.

Quite a generalization! This is actually one of several shorts I made in the series, each of which deal with a specific film genre that has traditionally been heterosexist. These shorts are a subversive "queering" of those genres. The blaxsploitation films of the 70s, while made by black artists were actually largely funded by whites. The whities saw profit in creating films that would appeal to that specific demographic which is partly why they are considered exploitive.

On top of that, in order to emphasize that the establishment/whities were bad, the films often depicted them as gay or lesbian. So in an attempt to empower one group, the films concurrently marginalized another. Of course, it was the 70s so they can easily be read as just campy fun at this point. In any case, it's a little more complex than simply "drawing on black ghetto culture" as a source of humour.
