The caption is incorrect (i.e. he wasn't "nearly" sucked under...he was completely submerged multiple times at length...

Very Brave!!? Very stupid more like throwing a tyre to rescue somebosy from a river? Not wearing a helmet? Not livebating with a rope? Not defensively swimming? I wouldnt want him trying to rescue me.

His leg must have gotten caught in the rocks... how else could he stop so quickly? Lucky he was close to so many people. It wouldn't have been long before he died like that.

@ShadowTigris I absolutely would want my body lost if it meant getting someone killed in the process of recovering it. ALL trained rescuers know to NEVER risk a life to recover a body.

The first seconds of the video were mute, it's not until later that you hear the people. Many of the AP's videos have a voice over, I sort of expected that for this video too, and hence there was no audio.
