  • I better not here or see anyone bashing Louis cause hes been my role model,my hero,my insperation.i say that teenagers have no excuse listening to there rap and whatever thats dirty.Im 14 and I listen to this amazing man.Even if you dont like his talent you gotta appreciate how he got there.Truthfully and correctly with no profane lyrics.

  • Louis and Bobby Darin both great performers... why must people compare?

  • excelent voice....

  • unbelievable man unbelievable song and unbelievable voice

  • I read that Louis did this song because " he knew some guys that were like Mackie". Back in New Orleans. My god, He must've known my dad, " Junior".

  • Yay!! Let's swing!!

  • Earing this song makes of Mack a very enjoyable person you'd be pleased to meet.

  • my grandfather loves this guy, i didnt think i would as well, but here i am.

  • @WollongongWacko: Hard to resist the charm and talent of the wonderful (and irreplaceable) Louis Armstrong. The best ambassador of Jazz there will ever be!

  • Louis is the greatest.!

The king is alive forever as my late grandma used to shriek 'WOW!'

  • This is the best recording of Mack the Knife - forget Bobby Darrin.

  • @harpozeppo - Damn right. I have this on vinyl. One of my absolute favorite tracks.

    Nobody else compares.

  • @harpozeppo It is a great recording. It's not the original, however. Originally it was an instrumental called "Moritat"

  • Brilliant, thankyou kkash! This was a big hit for Louis. "Take it, Satch!" Recorded for Columbia Records, September 28, 1955, Los Angeles, CA. Louis Armstrong and The All Stars: Armstrong, Louis (Trumpet, Vocal) Young, Trummy (Trombone) Bigard, Barney (Clarinet) Kyle, Billy (Piano) Shaw, Arvell (Bass) Deems, Barrett (Drums) Ooops... the photo on the record cover is the wrong way round. Louis played trumpet right-handed.
