I'm old enough to remember the nuclear scare of early 1980s, a scare that was promoted by the left. It included long programs on how much would be devastated in a nuclear war.
And now, when things are far worse, it's the left that tells us not to worry.
Why the difference? Because then president was Reagan, and now it's Obama.

I'm an independent and in no way do I believe it is more the lefts fault than the right - each side needs to accept equal blame for their lack of care about such critical issues. Here is how politician Obama will play it: He will not deal with Iran's nuclear program and will by default force Israel to do the job. If things go well, he will weasel in on the credit, hinting at behind the scenes maneuvers, winks and nods and "green lights" and such. If things go badly, he will of course express "disappointment" in Israel and point to his administrations earlier "warnings" about the consequences. That's what passes for "leadership" in the US these days.

I think ICBMs are a little extreme. Netanyahu, to his credit, has come to conclusion that the "international community" is just as cowardly today as they were in 1938. Diplomacy has been tried for years. If diplomacy worked as well as some people claim, this situation, would have been resolved long ago. And even if Iran elects a new President, the same religious leaders are still going to be in charge. Iran will continue to build nukes because they know the West will do nothing to stop them. Also, how do you think Israel feels? A nation that has repeatedly expressed a desire for Israel's destruction is on the verge of gaining nukes. No one wants a war. I'm old enough to remember the nuclear scare of early 1980s, a scare that was promoted by the left. It included long programs on how much would be devastated in a nuclear war.

Here is how politician Obama will play it: He will not deal with Iran's nuclear program and will by default force Israel to do the job. If things go well, he will weasel in on the credit, hinting at behind the scenes maneuvers, winks and nods and "green lights" and such. If things go badly, he will of course express "disappointment" in Israel and point to his administrations earlier "warnings" about the consequences. Diplomacy has been tried for years. If diplomacy worked as well as some people claim, this situation, would have been resolved long ago. And even if Iran elects a new President, the same religious leaders are still going to be in charge. Iran will continue to build nukes because they know the West will do nothing to stop them. I met Prof. Finkelstein and read most of his works. I was at that very conference and he said no such thing. What he said, and you misunderstood, is that he "honored" hezbollah for fighting against an invader and agressor (Israel).
You missed the historical context, hence your ignorant assertions. Israel INVADED Lebanon and hezbollah (which you can't even spell right) was EXPELLING the agressor in its own territory. These are the facts. Hezbollah did defeat the IDF in their AGRESSION.

Consider this; if my child ,that was born in the US, never set foot in Israel, has no roots there for a 1000 generations, can claim citizenship just because her mother is of jewish ancestry. Her mother has no roots in Israel, never set foot in the country and have no connection to the land, yet, that alone gives a complete stranger more rights than those of any Palestinian that have owned land and lived there for 10 generations. Is that a fair system?

Israel is not "scared" of Palestinians. If the international political cost wasn't so astronomically high, they would have already killed every single Palestian long ago.
What I want is irrelevant, I'm not Palestinian. That is for them to decide and negociate. It would be arrogant for me to even venture into a proposal of my own. However, I will not support the agressor, its brutality and opression. What I seek is just the truth and that is clear.
