Yeah, anyone who can critically reason would disagree. Simple plan: Become a citizen and pay taxes. Very socialist ideology. If you want free healthcare and free schooling, then you pay for it Mr. K (I'm tired of trying to support those who don't pay taxes).
totally disagree!!! we are talking about ILLEGAL imigration...its is a VERY simple problem to fix...simply put stronger and REAL penalties on the businesses who are hiring them. this will not get done though. because it benefits the corporations and businesses - they are the funding behind campains and politicians. its not going to happen - i like dennis - but he has some really bad stances on certain policies that will just kill him in any election...this is a bad position Mr. Kucinich
It is shameful to lump ILLEGAL immigrants in with LEGAL immigrants who have followed the rules and come here legally, not an inexpensive process. We should not reward those who flaunt the system, work illegally and depress wages in the US, and use our social systems. We need to be fair and not penalize those who do the right thing by immigrating LEGALLY.
This assumes that because there is a law that the law is "fair". This assumes that the "system" is somehow "fair". Is it "fair" to subsidize U. S. agribusiness to grow corn and then flood the Mexican market with corn---the staple diet---at below market prices? What is the effect on the Mexican small farmers of this law(NAFTA)? Who is really depressing wages here?
If you feel a law is unfair, the right thing to do is to work to change it, not ignore it. For those concerned about immigrants, feel sorry for those who are doing things the "right way" and having to wait for visits from relatives, having to file a bunch of paperwork, and having to pay a lot of money. Why should we allow some people to come into this country for free, get free health care, pay no taxes, etc. and expect others to pay a nice chunk of change? Isn't THAT the REAL discrimination?

he supports enabling the most corrupt nation in north america (ie. mexico, also ranks extremely high relative to the world) to not take care of it's own citizens. he also supports the environmental degradation that happens when you overpopulate by over taxing our fragile ecosystem. this is an absolutely horrible stance on this issue. there should be 0 illegals in america! when will he say no? when we have more than 1 billion people here that we can't afford to take care of like china?
Why don't you say there should be zero "illegals" in America when you live your life knowing that nothing you own, buy or need comes from their hard work.
so, you think illeglas should be paid horrible slave wages? you don't believe in sustainability? you believe we should enable mexico to not educate and take care of it's own citizens like canada does? canada doesn't abuse america because they have a middle class, honest government, healthcare, good eduction etc. mexico is totally corrupt and tells it's citizens to have babies to fix the end result of horribly corrupt policies.
No, my main concern for this issue is that we slowly fix our government so that we do not rely on immigrants and workers in various "third world" countries to do our work for us, then force them out of our country or give them no options for education. Instead of helping countries such as mexico in getting on their feet and educating their citizens, we use their uneducated people and force them into doing slave labor like working jobs at factories, we rely on them!
I see your point, you point out the problems, which is good. All I am pointing out is that we should start fixing the problems rather than enableing them to continue. Do you see what I'm saying? (sorry if this is in a weird format, I wrote too much, this is just the ending part of what I last said : )
I understand. I would just rather see poor uneducated Americans get jobs regardless of their race rather than encourage the unsustainable practice of letting a flood of immigrants come in who will work for 1/10 the wage. I like Kucinich. I especially like his peaceful nature. However, his immigration policy is the worst of any candidate.
Al Gore had a much better immigration policy because he knows just like Jacques Cousteau knew way back when... if you want clean oceans and clean air and open space and other animals, you can't overpopulate.

the little man has a lot of hot air in him. the guy wants to become president but will not uphold the law, which states that it;s a crime to enter and reside in the country illegally.
why don't we just allow everybody in and let them 'enjoy' the generous social welfare which is intended for the citizens of this country.
let's see how long the lefties can tolerate aliens then. b.t.w, Ron Paul is against illegal immigration so he would never accept kucinich as a running mate.
HillBill is a disappointment. Obama is too inexperienced. J. Edwards is buyable. Joe Biden would make a great VP. Bill Richardson would make a great ambassador. The others just pale. Dennis is the only one without strings, experienced and correct. My vote goes to Dennis Kucinich.
I support his views. Even though I know he is not going to win, I still respect him. Most of us are descendants from immigrants and to say that we want to shun the "not legal" immigrants with the same goals our forefathers had in mind centuries ago is hypocrtical. I agree we have to end illegal immigration but most undocumented immigrants today want to be US citizens.
when kucinich says we are attacking ourselves its not true....we are only trying to raise the America standard of living...Immigration IS America..but its legal immigration...that makes america great I myself moved from France and i feel jipped due too the illegal immagrents who get in and suck off my money, which i value, to pay for their childrens healthcare. go through the prosess and everythings good the test isn't that hard.
Come on, if you were a true immigrant you would know that it takes between 10-17 years to get your citizenship. Plus the heavy cost of filing for your citizenship that most poor latin americans can't afford. Also many people who go through the process of getting their citizenship get sucked out by corrupt administrators. Plus there is nothing wrong with tax payiing money going to children, documented or undocumented.
I have been here on visa having only 3 years at a time for 12 years, it took me a long time to get here...and i finally have it...when America is paying with my tax paying money it is a problem i want my money to go to Americans not some Alien...
But the undocumented immigrants told America to fine them and let them become US Citizens. These people risked their lives to get into this nation and they have contributed to our economy. No point in deporting them, let them stay and they will pay their taxes.
no they wont pay their taxes. it's a big game to most illegals to see how much they can get for free. even after some are legal they collect wellfare because they get paid in cash @ work.
Joe, This is sheer nonsense and misinformation, at best. Fact: workers who are here and receive paychecks have S.S.I. deducted FROM their checks....and can never draw S.S.I
Fact: The real CAUSE of your discontent is not the "illegal" immigrants, but the policy of your government to flood the Mexican market with subsidized corn grown in the U.S., causing Mexican farmers to lose their farms and force them to come here to find a way to feed their families.
way to avvoid the topic with corn. 1st of all let me say that this is the only issue that i dont't agree with kucinich on. the only one! illegal immigrants don't get pay checks. they get paid under the table. look up the federal pen population of illegals, it's about 70%, L.A. county is more like 90%. keep on protecting illegals and see where it gets you. yeah, reform the system, hopefully they follow the rules of it.
what about African Americans who's ancestors were brought as slaves? Were they brought here legaly? should we deport them, too? It costs thousands of dollars to come in to the U.S. legally, and since our policies have devistated much of Mexico, illegaly is the only way they can come. It's self evident. Most of them are perfectly dignified people who just want an honest job an honest wage.
I like two Presidential Candidates! Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich. I wish one could be President and the other Vice President, but since that's impossible, I will vote for the one who makes it.
i, too, like ron paul, he's right on lots of issues but wrong on healthcare and social security... i've been trying to find what kucinich is wrong about... that search hasn't been very successful.. i would urge everyone i know to vote for kucinich.
It's not impossible, it is just improbable. There is nothing in the constitution that states that members of different parties can't be running mates.
I'm ok with immigrants as long as they learn to speak English. That's the problem I have, when they segregate and separate themselves from Americans. It's almost like they hate Americans & just want to keep to themselves. LEARN TO SPEAK ENGLISH please.
There's something wrong here. Listening to Dennis's speech, he calls our Nation a Democracy. America is a Republic, not a Democracy. Watch: JBS Overview of America. There are 4 parts. Our "Pledge of Allegience say to the REPUBLIC and NOT Democracy. Would someone tell me when we changed from being a Republic to democracy? Did our Govt. slip than in?
We are all immigrants from somewhere...everyone, even the Native Americans came from somewhere else at some time in history. I think this is a very interesting subject! We are all the same and are all immigrants. All we are saying is to come here legally. Many ppls. have been waiting in line for Citizenship, just don't jump in front of them. It's not fair to them.
I agree with Kucinich on almost everything, but I'm troubled by his stance on immigration. While I totally agree that migration to the US is tied to economics and undocumented workers are victims of the global economy, I don't think the U.S. should hand every person who jumps the fence a Green Card.
Well actually, if we cooperate with immigrant workers instead of exploiting them, even in our own country, we can really benefit our own economy too. If immigrants are given Green Cards to work, they will not have to be paid under the table, can pay into our social security system - giving a much needed boost- and be paid fairly. Furthermore, solving the problem REQUIRES what Kucinich says, solve the reason they are coming in the first place: US exploitation in Mexico.
My spouse and I are BOTH Native Americans. We don't hate people, but you illegals come into our country and trash it and trample on our Flag. Illegals are murdering and raping women and children everyday. I watched the hatred you spew against Americans..Yelling and screaming for your rights! We Native Americans don't want you here! Go back to your country and fix it!
Your xenophobia does nothing to profit the nation. Just because someone's skin is different color, or they come from an impoverished background, it doesn't mean they're some kind of conspiring vagrant. If anything, illegal immigrants will work harder for lower wages just to survive. Illegal immigrants aren't "murdering and raping women and children everyday". If you're an illegal immigrant, you aren't going to cause trouble for fear of being deported.
We are not anti imigration there are many people in line legaly theye should not be discrimanated against. Because those who break the law are allowed to jump to the front of the line.
Kucinich would benifit greatly from reviewing the work of the late Barbra Jordan who headed the commision on immigration reform in the mid 90's. She had the courage and intelect to consider the totality of the immigration issue. Kucinich just goes for being in favor of everything good and against everything bad.
What is Dennis saying? Are we supposed take in the masses of illegals and pay for them out of our taxes. They came here angry and insulting the Americans and stepping on our Flag. Middle class America is getting poorer, because of jobs being taken away. A cap needs to be put on illegal immigration.
you buy into the crap the media spewes out daily. the vast majority of immigrants do demeaningful, lowpay and zero-benefit jobs. The jobs that you wouldn't ever want, are the ones that come to america for. Btw, he never mentioned anything about allowing illegal immigrants to come in freely. If he research him, you will know he wants them to get documentation, and agreen card. However, u must realize its very hard to nowadays. He wants to make it easier.
That was amazing, and he is right on so many levels. American foreign policy has been instrumental in increasing the gap between the wealthy and the abjectly poor in the global system. It just amazes me how otherwise decent people can be so intolerant of those they believe to be different from them.
Whoa dennis do you even believe in the soverignty of the United States? Legal immigrants are more than welcome, illegal's need to be sent back, the laws need to be upheld. Listen the whole world wants to come to US, we can't have them all here. Why don;t you go and see what it is like in a 3rd world nation... this is an outright attack on the middle class of America.... RON PAUL 2008!
Now you're being ignorant. You say middle-class america, are you assuming their all white and born here? A vast number of the american people came here through immigrations, and over generations have become part of the "middle-class" of america. He wants to make obtaining citizenship easier, and not force those who are illegal to go back when they've been doing the jobs that need to be done, but not many americans would take up.
The only reason there has been immigration problems in the U.S. is because of the restrictive trade agreements that eliminate worker rights (including child labor laws and forced maditory overtime). The U.S. has profited from discounted mexican raw materials (labor and oil) too long. The same goes for any other country willing to sign U.S. trade agreements.
In 20 years, no country has experienced long term benefits from U.S. trade agreements. It's it time to look into that?
I dont think Dennis understands the impact of mass peoples all at once.Maybe he doesnt live in an area where they fly their mexican flags.Maybe he doesnt know how many of them laugh at us dumb Americans that pay for them to have countless babies and talk about taking over.I know first hand of this behavior and their distain for America. If you're mexican you know what I'm talking.I dont know any other immigrant group that has been so disrepectful.
"Bombing for peace, is like fucking for virginity" USA national policies are what make the country so insecure. Its why terrorism is a threat. If USA was about peace, and actually stood for freedom, then you would have less problems. The same goes for immigrations. The mexicans talk bad about USA because you guys shit on there rights, and abuse them. It is your own creation. It will change if Kucinich is President.
Nobody is shitting on anybodies rights.Mexicans talk shit about USA because their taught that this is their land. They are resentful and jeolous and think they deserve special rights. We can go round & round all day about policies in both countries but it doesn't change the facts .Mass illegal immigration is hurting the us.Why would you move to a country and talk shit. They need to fight, die, and fix their country, just like Americans had to do.
America had it alot better then mexico to begin with. For starters you guys were riding on slavery for 400 years. 2ndly, illegal immigration isn't what hurting america, a currupted goverment and a injust war is what hurting america. Insurance companies, drug companies etc.. is the reason why americans can't even get universal health care. Immigrants are not high on the list of whats bad for america.
I would be just as sickend if 30 million germans waved their flag on our streets yelling "viva germany".Besides ,You dont know if I have mexican blood or not.I dont give a shit where my family came from.I am a full blooded American.
So there are 300 Million Americans, and your worried about 30 Million Mexicans?. Hey if we had Germans yelling "viva germany" in our streets, i would say hell!, let welcome it!. America needs a lot more European culture anyway, so you all start losing weight and start respecting the rest of the world a little bit more. So your a Full Blooded American hey, which normally equals -: Arrogant, Ignorant, Standover, Superiority Complex.
So you don't give a shit where you family is originally from?, and therein lies the problem with your average American. The rest of the world is just not there is it!?. You just don't want to know about it, its all about "America". America is extremely young compared to most other nations, and with the you all carry on like you own the earth, its a wonder if its manages to get any older.
If it wasn't for Immigrants, you wouldn't have such a "wonderful?" America. The same thing applies to here in Australia!. Whilst you were still swimming around as a sperm in your fathers ballbag Immigration was putting you on the map. but in 2007, No No No.. i am a "full blooded American", we cant have "non-Americans" here!. Wake up CALL, your not originally American, you had to come from somewhere, but since you don't want to find out, you can exactly tell what you are, now can you!?.
why do you hate people? They are not the ones that wrote or signed NAFTA. They did not want to be kicked off of their farm lands, in starving desperation forced to migrate as their domestic markets are flooded with US agro-subsidized crops. The corporations count on racism and hate so they can get away with denying all of us the right to work for a decent life (both here and Mexico), if you want change fight against those with power, don't let racism and hate be channeled for corporate profit.
Its funny you speak about immigrants comming in and disrepecting americans and showing little respect for the land and the people who have resided there. Have you forgotten what the first settlers did to the native indians? There is room for immigrations, they work harder then you have to, get lower pay, less benefits and you have the balls to say they don't deserve to be here?
. The idea of putting policies in place that can improve conditions in places like Mexico just makes all the sense in the world. I watch the men at the Wal-Mart moneygram desk--the men in their concrete dirtied clothes--sending $600 to the family in Mexico. I don't know if they are legal or illegal. What I see is men who work hard to both survive here and support their families. How can we be so hateful toward them?
Dennis, I am not against immigration, it's the masses that have come into our country. President Bush wants to give illegals free health care and social security, the we Americans have worked hard for all our lives. It's just not fair to the American people.
No one's attacking immigrants, Dennis. The current problem American's have with immigrants is that they're illegal and are being dropped off here for the sake of cheap labor for higher profits.
People from Latino countries have been coming to the US . . .well, there really was no start. The fact is that no one has a problem with immigrants. The problem is with the stepped-up invasion of illegal immigrants to the US.

If this guy loves immigrants soooo much, let HIM pay for their food, housing, education and madical bills! Let HIM clean up the problem of their poverty by GIVING HUGE donations to their cause, their people, instead of TAKING huge donations to espouse their cause!
you didn't comprehend anything he said did you? He's saying that we need policies that will allow them to come here legally, and make jobs in mexico better so immigrants don't have to come here. He wants to fix the problems instead of building a wall.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
This guy is pandering desparately for votes. He had to ask the audience if they were immigrants first, then he went on his diatribe about immigrantion. I just wish he would go back to Croatia.
Dr Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich will win the 2008 Presidency of the United States of America by a landslide if they run as an Independent...
Most corrupt Republican and Democrat Congress, Presidential candidates, and Judges are puppets of the evil mob of Fascist Zionist Bankers "self-serving" Cult Party...
maybe instead of having all of mexico move to america. maybe he could give mexico a hand. and also, what factories? factories are far from where i live. all of our factories are in china and mexico.
dont be stupid. there are still factories here and there are still AMERICAN employers that knowingly employee illegal aliens. if they didnt, the aliens would have no reason to come here would they? duh.
hey. fine. there are a few factoreis here and there. but seriously, do you ever look at where 90% of our crap is made?? in case you havent noticed, not much is made in the usa. even some candy and food is made in china. illegal aliens come here for our free handouts and to work in the few factories we have left. maybe you should look at some of your crap and see where it came from.
i realize that countryman. most everything we have is made somewhere else. however, you cant deny that AMERICANS are employing illegal immigrants. that is WHY they come here. if they couldnt get more money here, why would they come at all? i live next to a chicken plant that employees tons of illegals. bush doesnt like punishing CEOs though. that is why they are here.
I don't care what anybody says, Kucinich is RIGHT. Immigrants are human beings and deserve to be treated as such. Other countries do not jail Americans and put them in concentration camps, stripping them of their rights, depriving them of Habeas Corpus and legal counsel and subjecting them to torture. Why are WE doing it? We have already ALL lost our right to Habeas Corpus. What will it take for you people to WAKE UP and realize what is happening?
Who the fuck picked kerry to run for president? It's because of him that the Democrats lost the god damn election. I'm glad wider exposure to internet video like youtube exists to make people more aware of even the ones portrayed as little guys like Ron Paul and Kucinich. I hate how almost all newscasts put all their attention on Obama, Hillary, Guliani ,and Romney.
I have been turned away from jobs because I didn't speak SPANISH. If some illegal SOB is going to steal my job, I'd rather send them back, so that I can feed my family.
DONT BE FOOLED. unless you have lived it, you couldn't begin to understand.
unless you are a native american (Native indians) Someone in your family was also an illegal SOB, who take the land from its original owners: INDIANS!!!!!!
well said. native americans have been screwed worse than any race in history and its continuing to this day. but i dont think we should turn over the country to them...just treat them as equal citizens.
coolmamac: We are accomplices to the bad situation in Mexico [think NAFTA].
Nobody is taking our jobs because illegal immigrants get the jobs we don't even want in the first place: cleaning houses, picking produce in the field, mowing our lawns.
We need to have a fair immigration policy. Americans are rapidly loosing jobs and are being dumped on. Dennis needs to think about the fact that WE pay taxes so that
illegals get free health care. NO WAY. I DO NOT like the way the Right Winger are so hateful toward the Mexicans. They should be given respect, even the Bible says to treat foreigners fairly, but we cannot take millions more in here. It is up to Mexico to correct it's policies and help it's people.
Please vote for Dennis or answer to all the people who will die with no health care when you die and see the Great Judge ! They will ask you why you didnt vote for Kucinich and let them die and their kids left to defend them-selves
Mexican immigrant scapegoating MUST STOP. When and where are we living, Nazi-occupied Germany in the 1930s/40s??? NOT IN MY COUNTRY. Only Kucinich in 2008!
Eso: I'm the son of Cuban Immigrants -- Miami Cubans are in full support of Ron Paul -- Immigrants (those who come for liberty, private ownership, and entrepreneurialism) understand this. Cubans are very angry with Michael Moore and his lies about Cuban Healthcare and Kucinich boasts of having Michael Moore's support!!
Octo- Please don't suggest you know what Cubans believe. I'm sure you are correct that those Cubans who preferred US-backed Batista's dictatorship over the Cuban Revolution don't like Michael Moore, but that's hardly representative of the VAST MAJORITY of Cubans who disagree with you.
And anyone who equates "liberty" and "democracy" (both having to do with social systems/conditions), with "capitalism" (an economic system) are mixing up a convenient concoction to apply meaning to fit their own agenda.
I've not used the word "capitalism." Liberty in this country was built on a Constitutional Republic - Our "liberty" now is built on Democracy, the founding fathers were deathly scared the country would fall into Democracy (Mob Rule - or Majority Rule) - Group Think!!
ESO: The US-backed Batista under Democratic Kennedy! Look Eso, I understand the Cuban situation better than you because I'm Cuban and I have family there and here. People risk death at sea to come here - for Liberty. Cuban doctors risk death to expatriate because Castro uses them like credit cards (slave labor). I've seen people who have surgery wounds sown together with Cardboard box stapples so do not lecutre mean on Cuban Healthcare!!
I agree with Dennis about our collective immigrant roots. Certainly mine are. Politically, we've stacked the deck against immigrants from poor countries these days, its part our our mean political culture. I wish our history was better regarding immigration. Nearly every wave has had to face prejudice. This wave faces illegality because of our laws, not because they are different.
Kenacorn: Immigrants come here for several reasons (my family is Cuban and Irish refugees turned citizens): 1) American Entrepreneurial Spirit, 2) Religious/politicas refuge, 3)personal liberties. None of my family came here for Welfare, or any types of Handouts. Most immigrants I know understand this. The CFR approach is to import socialist immigrants to creat 2nd class citizenry (surfdom). Socialists vote to increase Welfare-Free-ride. Malcom X against "Great Society" (Welfare State)
I live in NY and our city has come back to a large degree due to immigration. Now you've Mitt Romney running around whining about New York and Newark being a "sanctuary city for illegals." What hypocrite. Boston doesn't depend on them as well? Please. And as to Kucinich being a prolifer, that's very old by now. Why should anyone care, if he's probably the most pro-choice democrat running for president today?
And on the more soldiers died under Clinton than Bush. Really? I haven't looked it up, but the Kosovo war aside, most of the "nation-building initiatives" you're discussing that Kucinich would back are radically different from that of this administration. I won't speak for Bill Clinton, since it isn't really relevant.
But a UN peacekeeping mission is hardly the same as that of a "coalition of the willing," like this, which is illegally occupying another sovereign state. Kucinich is generally on the right side of international law and intelligent policymaking in that regard. And his plan centers around that very distinction. Ron Paul dangerously confuses the issue by equating the two.
Clinton was not on a UN Peacekeeping mission in Bosnia, it's a joke to say that something is "right" because it puts the accronym "U.N" or "Peace" in front of it -- are they Peace Officers or Police Officers is it War-Profiteering or World "Peace" Keeping missions -- Clinton and Bush are the same just have different tactics, both members of the CFR
Break: You are not "seeing" the point. Ron Paul has never voted to increase Military spending for overseas military proliferation - Dennis Kucinich has under Clinton. Once you increase Fed Funding for Foreign Based Police Actions the budgetary process has begun and "tactics" can change under new administrations. Our government is constitutionally illegal in size and scope -- Ron Paul has never voted to increase size and scope of government - Kucinich has and that's my point.
Dennis is the man! People tend to think that "they" are the problem, meaning the other struggling souls in this world who just want to make a living. Dennis is right: "they" are not the problem - big business and big government are the problem keeping us ALL down! Vote for Kucinich!
How come nobody ever makes the distinction between legal and illegal immigration? We let 4 million people/year come here *Legally* Isn't that enough? Can the president's economic policies create 4 million new jobs each year? Importing labor is exporting our standard of living. Pay a decent wage and Americans will work. We are not lazy. We just don't want to live with 6 room-mates in a small apartment to compete.
I agree all white people in the USA are immigrants yes that is the country i admire you likeit or not and all of you made a great world power my Macedonia was a power 2000 years ago,to day my ex country struglle for recognision, what a pitty.go Kucinich change the world politics, lets create world for all,no borders, let people decide whwre they want to live Dennis Kucinich for president of the World.
What he neglects to mention is that it is because of illegal immigrants that cross the border and have their babies here that hundreds of hospitals have had to close due to bankruptcy. As far as I know, the Constitution is to be applied ONLY to people who are United States citizens, born or naturalized. That is why the 14th amendment is there.
Like I said before, there is a difference between immigration and crossing borders illegally. The 14th amendment protects immigrants; it should not protect those people who come into this country illegally. Amendments 4-8 deal with CITIZENS who break laws and their rights.
what does that have to do with being a citizen of a country? a passport allows you to visit countries on a temporary basis. if you asked me if i had a visa or not, that would be different. there is a difference between someone being here on, say a work or student visa, and somebody who directly disobeys a law by crossing the border illegally. it is also different if someone legally visits this country, then decides that they would like to be a naturalized citizen.
There is a difference between immigrants and people who cross into this country illegally. I whole-heartedly support legal immigrants who come to this country looking for a better life. I also believe in a legal system. If I break a law, I know that there will be consequences for it. This crap of granting amnesty to individuals who are, essentially, fugitives is a load of crap. That is rewarding illegal behavior; nothing more, nothing less.
Dennis seems to be saying that anyone in the world who feels like coming here should determine our immigration policy rather than our elected representatives. Why not provide free rides too? We need a president who discerns the difference between legal from illegal.
Native Americans are voting for Kucinich they all seen who took the Highest pay-offs from the Heath Care co and Pharm co and figures dont lie but liars do figure
I do like Dennis Kucinich...a LOT...I'm still a little hesitant with his stance on immigration. HOWEVER, I really like what he said about canceling NAFTA and helping make Mexico a better place to work. We really need a president who targets the ROOTS of the country's woes, not the symptoms on the surface.
Kucinich and the Democrats voted for NAFTA - Ron Paul did not, Ron Paul will cancel NAFTA, WTO, IRS, Fed Reserve, Bring Troops Home -- and all these things are not flip-flopped views they are HIS long standing opinions - 40 years. Kucinich and others flip-flop. Kucinich used to be pro-life 90% of his career, let's just hire the original.
Mchugh: Slip of the font, Democrats (Kucinich being one of them) put NAFTA in place. He did however run 90% of his career as a Fed Funding Pro-Lifer, now he's pro-choice. Also, he backed everyone of Clinton's World Police Nation Building Schemas - more soldiers died under Clinton than under Bush. He also voted to decrease the age at which minors could be tried as adults on marijuana offenses.
Octobox - how you pin Kucinich to the mistakes of his party. It's like pinning Ron Paul (your candidate) to the mistakes of his party, which by all means are longer than Santa's Christmas list. First you said he voted for NAFTA which he wasn't in congress then, and now you're spreading these lies about him and his voting record. Go back to your Ron Paul forums...
TheDiversion: There are no lies concerning Kucinich -- I have his complete voting record, what I said was the Kucinich and the Democratic Pary and shouldn't have - it's okay to slip. Kucinich did vote to decrease the age by which a teenager could be tried as an adult on drug charges. He did voted for every Nation Building Schema under Clinton (Police Actions).
Octobox - can you please link me to where he voted to lowering the age for teenagers to be tried as an adult? Because he's fought for years to end the "war on drugs" and for you to say that seems blatantly false. I've been following Kucinich and i assure you that he never voted to lower the age to incarserate, on the contrary he believe rehabilitation and not incarceration.
TheDiversion: Yes I can. The Bill was HR 3 "Juvenile Crime Bill" [vote-smart(dot)org] -- Kucinich voted yes. Some mentionables regarding the bill: 1)Allows 14 yr olds to be tried as adults for both violent and drug related charges (separately), 2) Juvenille records can be kept and available to public as adult records, 3) Fed Funding (making this a War on Drugs Taxation), 4) Build addition correctional facility (Corporate Subsidized Prison Conglomerates)!!!
OctoBox - Yes, I see it, it is sad, but i see that it dates back about 10 years ago, i believe one of his first bills he voted on. BUT, ever since then he's voted for rehabiliation over incarceration (i.e. Juvenile Justice Bill in 99'), if you compare them it's basically the same bill as 97'. Yes, this saddens me, i will look into further why he made that vote, but he's had the most progressive votes since then and i'm still voting for him.
TheDiversion: He is a flip-flopper, but not as bad as the others. Ron Paul never flip-flops (ever) - He also does not voted on bills for Fed-Funding, so he is the best friend of everyone - because he doesn't force Pro-Choicers to fund Pro-Lifers (thru taxation) or vice versa -- He does not fund NRA or non-NRA, he doesn't fund pro-War on Drugs or anti-War on Drugs - Fed Funding in 99% of the cases is un-constitutional. Ron Paul is an Oath-Keeper, which they all "swear" (promise) to uphold!!
Octobox - I knew you were going to say that, he's been consistant all his life on most issues, because he voted bad one time, you're going to call him a flip-flopper for a vote he casted more than 10 years ago, have you heard the term "maturity?" Ron Paul votes no on everything that involves implementing it, whether it's funding it somehow, letting people pay to have it, or voting to not allow info on the matter.
TheDiversion: Your incorrect analysis. Gay people and liberals are mostly anti-NRA -- Ron Paul would never vote for Fed Funding of NRA legislation (wont make Gays and Liberals pay thru taxation). Simultaneously, Ron Paul does not vote for Fed Funded Pro-Life or Pro-Choice Bills, because that would make individuals opposed pay (either or) - Taxation. Ron Paul is a Constitutional Purest - which means the Minority over the Majority (Individual is only real Minority)!
Con't - The reason why i don't vote Ron Paul is because he's conservative, he believes for freedom and most of us all do (including me), but he doesn't have plans to research alternative energies, he doesn't support gay rights (right to join the army, doesn't support gay marriage/civil partnerships), is anti- pro-choice, doesn't believe in environmental/animal protection rights. I do, all the topics are of course debateable (i don't feel like debating them today), but the point is Dennis does.
Dennis,
Shall we let all 2 billion poor starving people around the world come to our country or just the Mexicans?

Yeah, anyone who can critically reason would disagree. Simple plan: Become a citizen and pay taxes. Very socialist ideology. If you want free healthcare and free schooling, then you pay for it Mr. K (I'm tired of trying to support those who don't pay taxes).
Txman1996 3 years ago
totally disagree!!! we are talking about ILLEGAL imigration...its is a VERY simple problem to fix...simply put stronger and REAL penalties on the businesses who are hiring them. this will not get done though. because it benefits the corporations and businesses - they are the funding behind campains and politicians. its not going to happen - i like dennis - but he has some really bad stances on certain policies that will just kill him in any election...this is a bad position Mr. Kucinich
johnnyhotwater 3 years ago
It is shameful to lump ILLEGAL immigrants in with LEGAL immigrants who have followed the rules and come here legally, not an inexpensive process. We should not reward those who flaunt the system, work illegally and depress wages in the US, and use our social systems. We need to be fair and not penalize those who do the right thing by immigrating LEGALLY.
antigone1000 4 years ago
This assumes that because there is a law that the law is "fair". This assumes that the "system" is somehow "fair". Is it "fair" to subsidize U. S. agribusiness to grow corn and then flood the Mexican market with corn---the staple diet---at below market prices? What is the effect on the Mexican small farmers of this law(NAFTA)? Who is really depressing wages here?
9Forgetsalot 4 years ago
If you feel a law is unfair, the right thing to do is to work to change it, not ignore it. For those concerned about immigrants, feel sorry for those who are doing things the "right way" and having to wait for visits from relatives, having to file a bunch of paperwork, and having to pay a lot of money. Why should we allow some people to come into this country for free, get free health care, pay no taxes, etc. and expect others to pay a nice chunk of change? Isn't THAT the REAL discrimination?

he supports enabling the most corrupt nation in north america (ie. mexico, also ranks extremely high relative to the world) to not take care of it's own citizens. he also supports the environmental degradation that happens when you overpopulate by over taxing our fragile ecosystem. this is an absolutely horrible stance on this issue. there should be 0 illegals in america! when will he say no? when we have more than 1 billion people here that we can't afford to take care of like china?
bb714 4 years ago
Why don't you say there should be zero "illegals" in America when you live your life knowing that nothing you own, buy or need comes from their hard work.
hayjhay15 4 years ago
so, you think illeglas should be paid horrible slave wages? you don't believe in sustainability? you believe we should enable mexico to not educate and take care of it's own citizens like canada does? canada doesn't abuse america because they have a middle class, honest government, healthcare, good eduction etc. mexico is totally corrupt and tells it's citizens to have babies to fix the end result of horribly corrupt policies.
bb714 4 years ago
No, my main concern for this issue is that we slowly fix our government so that we do not rely on immigrants and workers in various "third world" countries to do our work for us, then force them out of our country or give them no options for education. Instead of helping countries such as mexico in getting on their feet and educating their citizens, we use their uneducated people and force them into doing slave labor like working jobs at factories, we rely on them!
hayjhay15 4 years ago
I see your point, you point out the problems, which is good. All I am pointing out is that we should start fixing the problems rather than enableing them to continue. Do you see what I'm saying? (sorry if this is in a weird format, I wrote too much, this is just the ending part of what I last said : )
hayjhay15 4 years ago
I understand. I would just rather see poor uneducated Americans get jobs regardless of their race rather than encourage the unsustainable practice of letting a flood of immigrants come in who will work for 1/10 the wage. I like Kucinich. I especially like his peaceful nature. However, his immigration policy is the worst of any candidate.

I support his views. Even though I know he is not going to win, I still respect him. Most of us are descendants from immigrants and to say that we want to shun the "not legal" immigrants with the same goals our forefathers had in mind centuries ago is hypocrtical. I agree we have to end illegal immigration but most undocumented immigrants today want to be US citizens.
rightwingwhiteboy911 4 years ago
when kucinich says we are attacking ourselves its not true....we are only trying to raise the America standard of living...Immigration IS America..but its legal immigration...that makes america great I myself moved from France and i feel jipped due too the illegal immagrents who get in and suck off my money, which i value, to pay for their childrens healthcare. go through the prosess and everythings good the test isn't that hard.
D2nd10990 4 years ago
Come on, if you were a true immigrant you would know that it takes between 10-17 years to get your citizenship. Plus the heavy cost of filing for your citizenship that most poor latin americans can't afford. Also many people who go through the process of getting their citizenship get sucked out by corrupt administrators. Plus there is nothing wrong with tax payiing money going to children, documented or undocumented.
rightwingwhiteboy911 4 years ago
I have been here on visa having only 3 years at a time for 12 years, it took me a long time to get here...and i finally have it...when America is paying with my tax paying money it is a problem i want my money to go to Americans not some Alien...
D2nd10990 4 years ago
But the undocumented immigrants told America to fine them and let them become US Citizens. These people risked their lives to get into this nation and they have contributed to our economy. No point in deporting them, let them stay and they will pay their taxes.
rightwingwhiteboy911 4 years ago
no they wont pay their taxes. it's a big game to most illegals to see how much they can get for free. even after some are legal they collect wellfare because they get paid in cash @ work.
joepuggy 4 years ago
Joe, This is sheer nonsense and misinformation, at best. Fact: workers who are here and receive paychecks have S.S.I. deducted FROM their checks....and can never draw S.S.I
Fact: The real CAUSE of your discontent is not the "illegal" immigrants, but the policy of your government to flood the Mexican market with subsidized corn grown in the U.S., causing Mexican farmers to lose their farms and force them to come here to find a way to feed their families.
licketysplit7777 4 years ago
way to avvoid the topic with corn. 1st of all let me say that this is the only issue that i dont't agree with kucinich on. the only one! illegal immigrants don't get pay checks. they get paid under the table. look up the federal pen population of illegals, it's about 70%, L.A. county is more like 90%. keep on protecting illegals and see where it gets you. yeah, reform the system, hopefully they follow the rules of it.
joepuggy 4 years ago
what about African Americans who's ancestors were brought as slaves? Were they brought here legaly? should we deport them, too? It costs thousands of dollars to come in to the U.S. legally, and since our policies have devistated much of Mexico, illegaly is the only way they can come. It's self evident. Most of them are perfectly dignified people who just want an honest job an honest wage.

Naej27 4 years ago
I agree with Kucinich on almost everything, but I'm troubled by his stance on immigration. While I totally agree that migration to the US is tied to economics and undocumented workers are victims of the global economy, I don't think the U.S. should hand every person who jumps the fence a Green Card.
jessedrude 4 years ago
Well actually, if we cooperate with immigrant workers instead of exploiting them, even in our own country, we can really benefit our own economy too. If immigrants are given Green Cards to work, they will not have to be paid under the table, can pay into our social security system - giving a much needed boost- and be paid fairly. Furthermore, solving the problem REQUIRES what Kucinich says, solve the reason they are coming in the first place: US exploitation in Mexico.

Kucinich would benifit greatly from reviewing the work of the late Barbra Jordan who headed the commision on immigration reform in the mid 90's. She had the courage and intelect to consider the totality of the immigration issue. Kucinich just goes for being in favor of everything good and against everything bad.
vincentradosevich 4 years ago
What is Dennis saying? Are we supposed take in the masses of illegals and pay for them out of our taxes. They came here angry and insulting the Americans and stepping on our Flag. Middle class America is getting poorer, because of jobs being taken away. A cap needs to be put on illegal immigration.
Naej27 4 years ago
you buy into the crap the media spewes out daily. the vast majority of immigrants do demeaningful, lowpay and zero-benefit jobs. The jobs that you wouldn't ever want, are the ones that come to america for. Btw, he never mentioned anything about allowing illegal immigrants to come in freely. If he research him, you will know he wants them to get documentation, and agreen card. However, u must realize its very hard to nowadays. He wants to make it easier.
anhtran 4 years ago
That was amazing, and he is right on so many levels. American foreign policy has been instrumental in increasing the gap between the wealthy and the abjectly poor in the global system. It just amazes me how otherwise decent people can be so intolerant of those they believe to be different from them.
takinurbenzos 4 years ago 4
Whoa dennis do you even believe in the soverignty of the United States? Legal immigrants are more than welcome, illegal's need to be sent back, the laws need to be upheld. Why don;t you go and see what it is like in a 3rd world nation... this is an outright attack on the middle class of America.... RON PAUL 2008!
punjabisikhwarrior 4 years ago
Now you're being ignorant. You say middle-class america, are you assuming their all white and born here? A vast number of the american people came here through immigrations, and over generations have become part of the "middle-class" of america. He wants to make obtaining citizenship easier, and not force those who are illegal to go back when they've been doing the jobs that need to be done, but not many americans would take up.
anhtran 4 years ago
The only reason there has been immigration problems in the U.S. is because of the restrictive trade agreements that eliminate worker rights (including child labor laws and forced maditory overtime). The U.S. has profited from discounted mexican raw materials (labor and oil) too long. The same goes for any other country willing to sign U.S. trade agreements.
In 20 years, no country has experienced long term benefits from U.S. trade agreements. It's it time to look into that?

"Bombing for peace, is like fucking for virginity" USA national policies are what make the country so insecure. Its why terrorism is a threat. How can we be so hateful toward them?

maybe instead of having all of mexico move to america. maybe he could give mexico a hand. and also, what factories? factories are far from where i live. all of our factories are in china and mexico.
Countrymanbigandrich 4 years ago
dont be stupid. there are still factories here and there are still AMERICAN employers that knowingly employee illegal aliens. if they didnt, the aliens would have no reason to come here would they? duh.
JonnyRingo84 4 years ago
hey. fine. there are a few factoreis here and there. but seriously, do you ever look at where 90% of our crap is made?? in case you havent noticed, not much is made in the usa. even some candy and food is made in china. illegal aliens come here for our free handouts and to work in the few factories we have left. maybe you should look at some of your crap and see where it came from.
Countrymanbigandrich 4 years ago
i realize that countryman. most everything we have is made somewhere else. however, you cant deny that AMERICANS are employing illegal immigrants. that is WHY they come here. if they couldnt get more money here, why would they come at all? i live next to a chicken plant that employees tons of illegals. bush doesnt like punishing CEOs though. that is why they are here.
JonnyRingo84 4 years ago

OctoPuno 4 years ago
Octo- Please don't suggest you know what Cubans believe. I'm sure you are correct that those Cubans who preferred US-backed Batista's dictatorship over the Cuban Revolution don't like Michael Moore, but that's hardly representative of the VAST MAJORITY of Cubans who disagree with you.
EsoterikGirl 4 years ago
And anyone who equates "liberty" and "democracy" (both having to do with social systems/conditions), with "capitalism" (an economic system) are mixing up a convenient concoction to apply meaning to fit their own agenda.
EsoterikGirl 4 years ago
I've not used the word "capitalism." Liberty in this country was built on a Constitutional Republic - Our "liberty" now is built on Democracy, the founding fathers were deathly scared the country would fall into Democracy (Mob Rule - or Majority Rule) - Group Think!!
OctoPuno 4 years ago

Kenacorn 4 years ago
Kenacorn: Immigrants come here for several reasons (my family is Cuban and Irish refugees turned citizens): 1) American Entrepreneurial Spirit, 2) Religious/politicas refuge, 3)personal liberties. None of my family came here for Welfare, or any types of Handouts. Most immigrants I know understand this. The CFR approach is to import socialist immigrants to creat 2nd class citizenry (surfdom). Socialists vote to increase Welfare-Free-ride. Malcom X against "Great Society" (Welfare State)
OctoBox 4 years ago
I live in NY and our city has come back to a large degree due to immigration. Now you've Mitt Romney running around whining about New York and Newark being a "sanctuary city for illegals." What hypocrite. Boston doesn't depend on them as well? Please. And as to Kucinich being a prolifer, that's very old by now. Why should anyone care, if he's probably the most pro-choice democrat running for president today?
breaks0 4 years ago
And on the more soldiers died under Clinton than Bush. Really? I haven't looked it up, but the Kosovo war aside, most of the "nation-building initiatives" you're discussing that Kucinich would back are radically different from that of this administration. I won't speak for Bill Clinton, since it isn't really relevant.
breaks0 4 years ago
But a UN peacekeeping mission is hardly the same as that of a "coalition of the willing," like this, which is illegally occupying another sovereign state. Kucinich is generally on the right side of international law and intelligent policymaking in that regard. And his plan centers around that very distinction. Ron Paul dangerously confuses the issue by equating the two.
breaks0 4 years ago
Clinton was not on a UN Peacekeeping mission in Bosnia, it's a joke to say that something is "right" because it puts the accronym "U.N" or "Peace" in front of it -- are they Peace Officers or Police Officers is it War-Profiteering or World "Peace" Keeping missions -- Clinton and Bush are the same just have different tactics, both members of the CFR
OctoBox 4 years ago
Break: You are not "seeing" the point. Ron Paul has never voted to increase Military spending for overseas military proliferation - Dennis Kucinich has under Clinton. Once you increase Fed Funding for Foreign Based Police Actions the budgetary process has begun and "tactics" can change under new administrations. Our government is constitutionally illegal in size and scope -- Ron Paul has never voted to increase size and scope of government - Kucinich has and that's my point.

We just don't want to live with 6 room-mates in a small apartment to compete.

icethemaco 4 years ago
What he neglects to mention is that it is because of illegal immigrants that cross the border and have their babies here that hundreds of hospitals have had to close due to bankruptcy. As far as I know, the Constitution is to be applied ONLY to people who are United States citizens, born or naturalized. That is why the 14th amendment is there.
utbeaker 4 years ago
Perhaps we need another amendment to protect immigrants.
TERRAN1212 4 years ago
Like I said before, there is a difference between immigration and crossing borders illegally. The 14th amendment protects immigrants; it should not protect those people who come into this country illegally. Amendments 4-8 deal with CITIZENS who break laws and their rights.
utbeaker 4 years ago
Believe it or not, non-citizens have rights in America. Do you own a passport?
TERRAN1212 4 years ago
what does that have to do with being a citizen of a country? a passport allows you to visit countries on a temporary basis. if you asked me if i had a visa or not, that would be different. there is a difference between someone being here on, say a work or student visa, and somebody who directly disobeys a law by crossing the border illegally. it is also different if someone legally visits this country, then decides that they would like to be a naturalized citizen.
utbeaker 4 years ago
There is a difference between immigrants and people who cross into this country illegally. I whole-heartedly support legal immigrants who come to this country looking for a better life. I also believe in a legal system. If I break a law, I know that there will be consequences for it. This crap of granting amnesty to individuals who are, essentially, fugitives is a load of crap. That is rewarding illegal behavior; nothing more, nothing less.
utbeaker 4 years ago
Dennis seems to be saying that anyone in the world who feels like coming here should determine our immigration policy rather than our elected representatives. Why not provide free rides too? We need a president who discerns the difference between legal from illegal.

I do like Dennis Kucinich...a LOT...I'm still a little hesitant with his stance on immigration.
OctoBox 4 years ago
NAFTA passed in 1993 and took effect in 1994. Sorry, but Dennis Kucinich was not a member of the House until 1996.
For his views on NAFTA and the WTO, see 4:24 of this video. I think he makes it pretty clear.
mchughhimself 4 years ago
Mchugh: Slip of the font, Democrats (Kucinich being one of them) put NAFTA in place. He did however run 90% of his career as a Fed Funding Pro-Lifer, now he's pro-choice. Also, he backed everyone of Clinton's World Police Nation Building Schemas - more soldiers died under Clinton than under Bush. He also voted to decrease the age at which minors could be tried as adults on marijuana offenses.
OctoBox 4 years ago
Octobox - how you pin Kucinich to the mistakes of his party. It's like pinning Ron Paul (your candidate) to the mistakes of his party, which by all means are longer than Santa's Christmas list. First you said he voted for NAFTA which he wasn't in congress then, and now you're spreading these lies about him and his voting record. Go back to your Ron Paul forums...
thediversion77 4 years ago
TheDiversion: There are no lies concerning Kucinich -- I have his complete voting record, what I said was the Kucinich and the Democratic Pary and shouldn't have - it's okay to slip. Kucinich did vote to decrease the age by which a teenager could be tried as an adult on drug charges. He did voted for every Nation Building Schema under Clinton (Police Actions).
OctoBox 4 years ago
Octobox - can you please link me to where he voted to lowering the age for teenagers to be tried as an adult? Because he's fought for years to end the "war on drugs" and for you to say that seems blatantly false. I've been following Kucinich and i assure you that he never voted to lower the age to incarserate, on the contrary he believe rehabilitation and not incarceration.
thediversion77 4 years ago
TheDiversion: Yes I can. The Bill was HR 3 "Juvenile Crime Bill" [vote-smart(dot)org] -- Kucinich voted yes. Some mentionables regarding the bill: 1)Allows 14 yr olds to be tried as adults for both violent and drug related charges (separately), 2) Juvenille records can be kept and available to public as adult records, 3) Fed Funding (making this a War on Drugs Taxation), 4) Build addition correctional facility (Corporate Subsidized Prison Conglomerates)!!!
OctoBox 4 years ago
OctoBox - Yes, I see it, it is sad, but i see that it dates back about 10 years ago, i believe one of his first bills he voted on. BUT, ever since then he's voted for rehabiliation over incarceration (i.e. Juvenile Justice Bill in 99'), if you compare them it's basically the same bill as 97'. Yes, this saddens me, i will look into further why he made that vote, but he's had the most progressive votes since then and i'm still voting for him.
thediversion77 4 years ago
OctoBox 4 years ago
Octobox - I knew you were going to say that, he's been consistant all his life on most issues, because he voted bad one time, you're going to call him a flip-flopper for a vote he casted more than 10 years ago, have you heard the term "maturity?" Ron Paul votes no on everything that involves implementing it, whether it's funding it somehow, letting people pay to have it, or voting to not allow info on the matter.
thediversion77 4 years ago
*Correction: I meant Ron Paul votes no on everything involving abortions and having abortions and so on...*
thediversion77 4 years ago
TheDiversion: Your incorrect analysis. Gay people and liberals are mostly anti-NRA -- Ron Paul would never vote for Fed Funding of NRA legislation (wont make Gays and Liberals pay thru taxation). Simultaneously, Ron Paul does not vote for Fed Funded Pro-Life or Pro-Choice Bills, because that would make individuals opposed pay (either or) - Taxation. Ron Paul is a Constitutional Purest - which means the Minority over the Majority (Individual is only real Minority)!
OctoBox 4 years ago
Con't - The reason why i don't vote Ron Paul is because he's conservative, he believes for freedom and most of us all do (including me), but he doesn't have plans to research alternative energies, he doesn't support gay rights (right to join the army, doesn't support gay marriage/civil partnerships), is anti- pro-choice, doesn't believe in environmental/animal protection rights. I do, all the topics are of course debateable (i don't feel like debating them today), but the point is Dennis does.
