Many seem to think that Fibre would be used for youtube, social networking, messaging & other low end applications that's wrong DSL2 is just fine for those lower end applications if that was all you were using your internet for you would stick to DSL2 if avaible.
I was under the impression it was going to be used for Business transactions, medical, real time applications (streaming content), data backups & such much higher bandwidth usage applications. Which DSL2 struggles with.
Most of my Electrite can't even get DSL1 poor guys stuck on using expensive wireless not there fault the copper hasn't been installed right I guess. The people in town got DSL2 about 2 years ago but still nothing for those further out sucks to be a mostly rural area.
I'd love to put my hand in my pocket for fibre I guess that might never be a reality though.
I'd put my money on 74 ALP, 71 LNP, 3 independts & 2 Greens (a second one will come after a recount at ALP expense)

Not everyone in Australia has to wait this long to download a video in low definition as pugghead has verified for you.

Although if your internet was slower then there upload speed & you increased it you would see an improvement with more ability to recieve at the rate there sending. Once you are able to match your download speed to there upload it dose not get better though.
Although you should not get to much lag on one that matches or exceeds there upload speed youtube vids arn't exactly big so DSL2 should be fine for most.
@desalage It's the same with Australian sites as well you can never recieve faster then the server has been setup to send. People who own servers select the bandwidth there willing to give to there users themselves. We don't let 1 user grab all the speed for themselves that would be silly. If the server oversease allows it you will be able to download faster but only if they allow it.

1080i videos & "upscaled" videos take a little bit on DSL2 but only enough time to go make a cuppa & come back. For youtube purposes DSL2 is just fine if you ask me.
I really doubt anyone wants Fibre for the purpose of watching youtube vidoes they really don't take that much.
If we had DSL2 I might not be complaining but we don’t have anything like that available here. Satellite was a huge improvement over dial up thanks to Kevin Rudd but typically you still have to wait hours to watch a few 10 minute 360p videos here.

@thymefromti I can backup that youtube videos load penty fast in low def on DSL2. I can backup that 720p vidoes on youtube load just fine on DSL2.
1080i videos & "upscaled" videos take a little bit on DSL2 but only enough time to go make a cuppa & come back. For youtube purposes DSL2 is just fine if you ask me.
I really doubt anyone wants Fibre for the purpose of watching youtube vidoes they really don't take that much.

If we had DSL2 I might not be complaining but we don’t have anything like that available here. Satellite was a huge improvement over dial up thanks to Kevin Rudd but typically you still have to wait hours to watch a few 10 minute 360p videos here.
I know people in Brisbane who don't have to wait.

Ive watched parliament a few times and Ive always liked the way Tony conducts himself and keeps his composure, were as Julia has always looked like a cold hearted evil bitch, I can't believe now the person who I admired the most is running up against the one I disliked the most, To see her campaigning she's absolutely putting it on compared to how she appears in parliament were as Tony is still himself, Tony has got my vote simply for being a true blue genuine aussie.

we went from a well paid manufacturing economy to a low paid service based economy with half the jobs. because of globalism and tearing down all the tarrifs.
and boat people? they are only 2-3 thousand per year. Its practically a non issue, this isnt the US with mexico next door. The immigration is not balanced to our infrastructure mr abbot. thats the real issue. either we bring FAR less people in - or we embark on major infrastructure & nation building projects and decentralize our cities.
