  • Like this if you still listen to De StiJl and White Blood Cells all the time

  • @chinchinskidude STUUPIDDDDDDD

  • i love how jack sped up the song because he thought i was going too slow at the beginning

  • The White Stripes are as good as any band there has ever been. Music quality and originality of style is most important. My five closest friends didnt believe such a claim to be true, until i took five of them to the patriot center concert. Each one of them left the show proclaiming the White Stripes to be the equal of Led Zeppelin, given they have not seen Zep Live. Its the quality and originality of style that makes all the difference.

  • @starus420 Led Zeppelin wasn't exactly original given that they literally stole from Little Richard Leadbelly and others - listen to "Been a long time since I rock & rolled"

whatever the title is by Led Zeppelin and then listen to Keep A Knockin by Little Richard - they ripped it off pretty good - some changes but it's a rip off. Many of their songs were rip offs. But they are still viewed as original

  • love the white strips

  • @GabberBanaan only if you say so! (votes down your comment)

  • @GabberBanaan why in gods name would i do that?

  • Ach fuck, I'll never be able to take mdma/amyl nitrate/amphetamine/cannabis/cocaine/and fuck knows what at a concert of theirs again. Tempus fuckoff

  • Meg Whites basically a metronome.

  • @Busyvanilla Damn pretty for a metronome, though, don't you think?

  • @LostRed33 FUCKING RIGHT

  • @LostRed33 Mostly we just look at her boobs.

  • bob ford was the man

  • That feeling when you found awesome band in same week when they broke up.. :P

    Dammit.

  • Just now ( i know, i know i'm late to the scene) getting into the White Stripes and i LOOOOOOOVE Jack White! he's inspired me to get the ol' guitar out and just see what happens.

  • @TheDorisNoris Yeah....no.

  • This is practically the definition of music.

  • His Airline guitar is fantastic but it sounds shit, what represents the White Stripes the best.

  • just got the big muff pedal and im loving the jackwhiteness coming out of it

  • feeling sad that the last hope of rock died

  • To get to know the Edge...let's see, I would recommend listening to all of their albums. Remember, you don't get to be the biggest band in the world because you suck. His solo on Bullet the Blue Sky is worth a listen and also the more than several parts on One Tree Hill are also pretty good. Rattle and Hum also has some great work on it. People who criticize someone like the Edge I guess should just prove that they can do better.

  • he does a great job of showing respect to other awesome artist that came before him

  • I bet most of those kids moshing up front don't even know where this song came from.

  • @dolotsofacid Agreed! It's likely a good number of Dylan's fans weren't aware of Mississippi John Hurt or Skip James either though.

  • Check out my kitten's rendition of Jokerman it's mind-blowingly-profound!

  • @ev1342 erg, tell me about it. I guess I'll just have to shop Eastwood

  • They don't make enough weird guitars these days. It's pissin me off.

  • @JeredtheShy the only ones that are in any way weird are bc rich, but those are ugly as fuck

  • Sounds like Give Me Back My Wig! :)

  • This is for wordzcantexpress. your comment reveals that you are a musical idiot. The Edge is every bit as great a musician as anyone else. If you think all he does is play 2 notes then listen to his solo in Bullet the Blue Sky, and i mean really listen because if you still only hear two notes then maybe invest in a hearing aid.

  • @willhelmfred05 I'm listening to the solo, if it was just that background thing, it literally was playing two notes. no offense or anything, I've never actually sat down and listened to U2 song in my life except "the streets have no name" (and even then it wasn't anything remarkable), but I do give everything a shot. so if you could tell me the exact minute and second to look for it, I'll gladly do it.

  • tom morello, shut the fuck up...we're talkin blues and he know his shit. Ya maybe he be stoned and all but this, now this is a phenomenal cover.

  • He should do something with Bob

  • Anyone know how to get that dentist drill sound? haha

  • @ridenbaugh12 Whammy pedal + Big Muff Pi.

You can either slide up the neck to & from the note your playing, (i.e sliding from a B down to an G & back to the B) or depress & release the Whammy to take you down & back up a couple of steps.

  • i shagged meg on there last tour little slapper ,,, but what a nosh mmmmmmmm cheers smeg

  • what effect is he using in the solo, to make it all like staccato? ps RIP White Stripes. jack, can i have those trousers now you don't need them? ;)

  • @shutup69er The staccato-ness isn't any technological effect. It's very fast alternate picking coupled with palm mutting & a Big Muff Pi.

I can get the same sounds as Jack by using this technique.

  • Loves me the White Stripes, but I can never watch Meg drum. As i drummer myself, its just tough to watch her lousy technique, though its fun to listen to.

  • @Fropals1 Ha, moron.

  • @Fropals1 its done purposely, she learned drums just for the band, she's not exactly the main focus, but a good foundation, obviously she sucks, but she isn't the main priority, but her drumming IS crucial

  • RIP The White Stripes - thank you for being you, I suppose, whoever you are

  • @Deacyful They never died and never will. Jack said that the music is now in the hands of the people to do whatever they want with it.

  • @Deacyful ha ha, i agree man, one of the last guitar heroes among us as well as one of the only bands true to the blues

  • God, I love his pants. XD

  • I have no idea what mode of thinking I was in to think something like this, but for the first part of the song, I truly believed this was Led Zeppelin. Very odd, because I know all the Zeppelin songs, I know they didn't do this one... but The White Stripes are just that fucking hypnotizing! Plus, I haven't slept for 30+ hours, lol. Still, very impressive, nonetheless.

  • the white stripes earned the right to cover songs from ledgends, Green Day has not. Green Day sucks

  • I really don't rank guitarist on the technique of the playing rather than the saound and feeling they can conjure from the strings. dont care if its lightning speed fingers or some added effects. its the feeling you get from the music that counts. atleast for me.

  • @tensai1312

    ABSOLUTELY

  • Word. I much prefer the guitar saying something rather than just smashing a shitload of notes together in hyperspeed.

  • @tensai1312 personally i prefer a nice slow blues i feel more soul in that i dont get much out ofplaying speed shred but thats just me everybody has their own taste and thats what great is the mixup of ppl anyways to each's own and to all i wish peace like lennon

  • @af69bp21 i personaly believe that the speed helps to convey the emotion of the artist.

  • @tensai1312 yes, same... therefore jack = top fucking notch

  • @tensai1312 thats the way to comment !!!

  • @tensai1312 Jack White is one of the best guitarists ever.

  • @tensai1312 Yeah, same here!

Learning the blues myself right now;)

So much feeling..Though sometimes it's gotta be fast to get the overwhelming feeling, when the music comes alive you know?

then it can slow down agin and just be tones melting together into one happy delicious cake;)

    yeah, exactly.. I'm retarded..But I love music :D

Blues has gotta be the genre with most feeling...according to me.

It's just so perfect, in whatever mood they play in.. the blues can be blue, angry and happy:)

  • imagine you cud get the same feeling from taking a drug, would that make the guitarist and his skill etc. irrelevant?

  • Comment removed

  • Happy new years bitches

  • watching it might get loud, i've noticed that the Edge can't even say a single word while page and white are talking about all the historical musicians. It was pretty clear that edge's knowledge behind music history was inferior than others. When i was watching the documentary high and drunk with my friends, we've all came up with the same conclusion "edge sucks"

  • I remember when I first got this dvd, I would watch it 5/6 times a week

  • His airline guitar is so badass! I'm so lucky to be getting one for Xmas! And not one of those Eastwood copies either!!!! Be very jealous :)

  • I want to lick Jack's guitar.

  • jack has a nice ass and i think the camera men know that!

  • i play blues,check me out

  • no way

  • I hear shades of IGGY too!

  • Anyone who says that Jimmy Page and/or The Edge aren't two of the best guitarists of all time needs to be shot in the head. Jack White is amazing and has gotten a lot of his inspiration from Led Zeppelin. As a fellow musician, it's sad to see how little many of you people know about rock and roll to base your opinions either off a lead singer's voice or because a guitarist uses effects.

  • @Zeppelin129 I loved that movie by the way. I love the edge, jimmy page, and jack white. How could people not like them?

  • @Zeppelin129 Honestly, The Edge isnt that great of a guitarist... he relies on technology a bit too much. Technology kills music.

  • @TheGrungeLives

    so you're probably better, yes?

  • @wordzcantexpress No, I dont play guitar. I play the drums and the piano. But The Edge cant even be compared to any of the greats like Jack, Page, Morello, and such. The Edge plays like two notes, then lets technology handle the rest.

  • @TheGrungeLives they should have had morello he has skill he makes the tech work for him while edge works for the tech

  • @cornyking1992 naw it woulnt be the white stripes, the way i see it megs this simple base line where the rhythem is coming from, and then jack just works with that beat and fcks ur face with ur own glass bong u got at target last week

  • @Dookiebutt47 i was talking about the moive with jimmy page the edge and jack white they should have put in tom morrello not the edge

  • @cornyking1992 oh very true, ive said that many times on here and u always have assholes trying to say hes amazing, haha he even proved in the movie that most of the sounds hecreates are thanks to special affects!, tom morello or buckethead?

  • @Dookiebutt47 i like both but i think morello would have fit better in the movie

  • @cornyking1992 word

  • @Dookiebutt47 @cornyking1992 what would you say about slash? i think he would fit better cause he's more of a rock n roll guitarist.

  • @cornyking1992 Totally. I never thought the Edge was in the genius category. He's an integral part of his band......but he's no guitar god.

  • @rep300 he had perfected his band element and should not have been taken out of it U2 is the only thing he knows where as page and white touched everything they could get their hands

  • @TheGrungeLives Amen! Technology kills creativity

  • @JoeyRamone129 What a retarded way to look at it. Technology boosts creativity. Without technology, Jack White wouldn't have the Whammy Pedal that's a staple of his sound.

  • @nickyjohnson102 What a retarded way to look at what I said. I meant, too much. Meaning Bono and all the new artists that don't need to sing, just computer generate everything.

  • @JoeyRamone129 That's SO far from being his point.

  • @GlassPike No, that's pretty much exactly what he said. Technology kills creativity.

  • @JoeyRamone129 No, what he said was technology does not equal creativity. Hear that guitar solo in the middle of this video? Guitars don't go that high, that's hundreds of dollars worth of digital effects pedal you're hearing. But Jack White's talented AS WELL, and he uses his technology tastefully and well. If you believe technology kill creativity, you need to go and listen to Woodie Guthrie and absolutely nothing else.

  • @GlassPike Well, thanks man for telling me things I already know! Real nice. I know what kinds of equipment. I will admit pardon for the misquote. But yes, I do know what kinds of equipment he has. Digitech Whammy Pedal for one, I'm a guitar player. And pardon once again, I was in fact wrong. Please don't go on about it, just state it.

  • @TheGrungeLives Sometimes less is more , The Edge is a example of that , he can create great music without having to play much guitar ,he combines the tecnology and the guitar and take it to another level, and it sounds fucking great, he is indeed a great guitarist !

  • @MrSoundAddict Check My comment to Grunges reply^^

  • @TheGrungeLives No No No, The Edge deserves some credit! He's just as original as slash, page, jack, and morello. He just isn't a shredder. He completely controls the sound of U2. I guarantee none of the other great can do as much as he does with technology. Edge is one of the most overlooked guitarists in one of the biggest bands of our time. We can't discredit great musicians because of their methods. I'm just saying. lol I'm a big "Edge Defender"

  • @Jordidge Well said good sir!

  • @Jordidge I don't think he's overlooked exactly lol.

  • @robertbradshawband Well he isn't overlooked but you know what i mean. youngsters round here find one great musician and then all of a sudden he's the best at the art.

  • @TheGrungeLives

I am truly sorry, but you are an idiot. Thats like saying hendricks wasnt any good he just used distortion to cover his bad playing.

  • @archaicalworm03 Learn to spell HENDRIX before you insult. "idiot"...

  • @archaicalworm03 you just said "thats like saying hendri[x] wasn't any good[,] he just used distortion to cover his bad playing. if he had bad playing, wouldn't that make him, not good?

  • @TheGrungeLives he is not a conventional guitarist, neither is tom morello, but they are both great in there own ways

  • @TheGrungeLives Hang on.. you can't criticise The Edge for his use of technology and claim Morello as one of the greats, its hypocritical to say the least. Don't get me though wrong I'm a big fan of both guitarists. Btw Edge plays more than two notes ;)

  • @TheGrungeLives Though you shouldn't compare jack white and the edge. Their style is completely different and the fact that The Edge only plays some notes with a lot of delay doesn't make him a worse guitarist than Jack White.

  • @Landerkuh The edge can be compared to Jack White in their overall playing ability. The edge isn't even in the same stratosphere. I think Green Day's guitarist may even be better than the edge, and yes I am serious.

  • @TheGrungeLives

I do play guitar and I completely agree with you.

  • @mussman717word

I play bass, you guys wanna start a band?

  • @EpicVikingBattle

I'd be up for it, see what Grunge has to say, lol.

  • @TheGrungeLives that's not the point! you cant compare edge with jack, because they both do completly different things. edge is interessted in technologie and how it changes the sound. his hearing is genius! they are both great in their own way

  • @TheGrungeLives u2 are pretty lame aint they? their musics never done nowt for me

  • @TheGrungeLives you know your right ;-) i didnt know him befor it might get loud, but when i saw his effects i just thought: comon, you can make it with less...

  • @TheGrungeLives is the technical level of edge's playing inferior to that of page?-yes. is the technical level of page's playing not as high as let's say that of malmsteen or gilbert?-yes. Does it make Page a less influent guitarist or a worse musician as malmsteen or gilbert?-NO! And it doesn't make the edge an inferior guitarist because he "only plays two notes" and uses a crapload of technology to create his sound. His sound is so unique that it primarily defines u2's musical essence.

  • @eini07 jimmy page less influential? NO. jimmy page worse musician than Vai, Gilvert, etc? YES. (not his fault, its all time, he came before them, so credit is given to where it is due) edge inferior guitarist? NO. edge inferior musician? YES.

  • @TheGrungeLives Stop hating! Give the man the credit he deserves, just like every single one of those great rock legends

  • @TheGrungeLives Stop hating! Give the man the credit he deserves, just like every single one of those great rock legends

  • @TheGrungeLives What you say is partly true, but you can't dismiss the fact that The Edge is the guitarist in a band that makes more money in a minute than most people make in a week. Keep in mind I don't personally like U2 all that much either.

  • @TheGrungeLives Comparing Jack to Page isn't that great idea too. I am huge Stripes fan, but have you ever seen Jimmy playing? Jack is good, but Page is god.

  • @aledobretociastko I personally think they can be compared. Jack can play like Jimmy, but you also have to remember that in all the bands he's actually in, he is both the lead singer and lead guitarist, so he can't focus entirely on one whereas jimmy was strictly lead guitar (with occasional vocals and theremin playing). but he definitely can imitate Page's guitar playing and even created his own style. with page influences, but for that, they can be compared.

  • @robertbradshawband No. Jack can't play like Page. watch?v=flcF4vNa61U

He's nowhere near, but still I do appreciate his playing.

  • @TheGrungeLives Thank you, I was starting to think I was the only one who thought "The Edge" was quite dull.

  • @TheGrungeLives I totaly agree man . Morello and White are very creative they create all kinds of sounds just by using a guitar

  • @TheGrungeLives dont equate style of playing with quality of playing! The edge really plays simple lines and uses a sh*tload of technology, however he is one of the main driving forces behind one of the greatest rockbands in history: U2. He is the one most responsible for shaping their incomparable sound and for that alone u should give the man credit.

  • @TheGrungeLives If you know more than 3 U2 songs you would know better. He sure is't the standard guitar player( but what would be the point, anyone could play the big riff and solo right now, it has become textbook material. To make up something of your own Like Hendrix or Page in their days or The Edge and Jack White right know that's real guitar talent, to take the guitar somewhere else.

Wether you like a guitarist or not stays an opinion.

  • @ArrJayEss And I shared my opinion, you're a hypocrite for criticizing mine. You can disagree, but dont say mine is incorrect.

  • @TheGrungeLives I was just talking about the part 'playing 2 notes and let the technology handle with the rest'.

He has made much better guitar parts then was shown in It Might Get Loud.

But obviously the makers wanted to focus on the effects part.

And yes, if you think Jack and Page are better, I got no problem with that.

    No need for name calling.

    Greetings.

  • @TheGrungeLives the edge is basically a fruit compared to those guys

  • @TheGrungeLives or maybe not i donno, everyone is good

  • @TheGrungeLives Wrong....

Even though i'm not a big the edge fan in must disegree with you....

U can't look at him as a u2 member...obviously hi doesn't really show everything his got....like many other musicians don't nowadays...

Even though his a heck of a guitar player, that i can assure you!!!!

  • @wesere12 Though he may be a heck of one, he didnt deserve to be in it might get loud. There are better out there that could have easily taken his place.

  • @TheGrungeLives Tom morello uses a shitload of technology dude..

  • @TheGrungeLives jack has his own style and the edge too

  • @TheGrungeLives my thoughts exactly!! how the FUCK did the Edge even get on that movie? talk about feeling out of place. lolol

  • @ShadeAce06 Because he represents that side of guitar playing. Besides, using pedals, it's just another way of getting a sound. Guitarists should be able to push the sound to the limit, theres more to guitar playing than running scales over and over. As far as i'm concerned, the Edge is a fantastic Guitarist.

  • @TheGrungeLives according to Jack white :)

  • i got my daaaarrrrrk suuuuunn glaaaasssess

  • loved the movie so much i put it on my iphone

  • I saw them Live the best concert ever my friends!!!! I got this DVD too even better live.

  • @apopoc

maybe I misspoke their, because the edge definately has his own sound, too bad it's the only sound he uses, every u2 song sounds very similar to the last. and with page, he's extremely overrated and didnt really explore many different styles with his playing and songwriting, IMO, and I just can't stand listening to led zeppelin for more than 2 or 3 songs cause Robert plants voice makes my head hurt.

  • @shoekstra1419 The edge uses a bunch of guitar effects. That's his "sound". He doesn't have feel like Jimmy or Jack. And how can you say Jimmy Page isn't a good guitarist because you don't like Robert's singing? That makes no sense. I'm not gonna argue about Robert's voice, that's just opinions.

  • good good good

  • he's such a better musician than Jimmy page and the edge, because he has his OWN style!

  • @shoekstra1419 LOL

I love Jack White but saying that Jimmy Page and The Edge don't have their own style just shows how little you know about them and rock n roll history.

  • what fuckin happened at 2:05-2:08?

  • @Slavefour1 Jack White decided he wanted to extinguish the entire planet, then decided against it.

  • Jack White you Bad Ass Mother F**ker!!!

  • they played a joke on the editor, jacks tat said "Noxious", but him and meg made it say "obnoxious" with sharpee to pull a prank

  • @TheDeadEnemy Wrong. It said Noxious in the first night, and Obnoxious in the second.

  • @JBiscaia33 wow, kid. Is that not what I just said? lol

  • i got my daaaaaaaaaark sunglaaaaaaaaassessss

  • what kind of effect is that on his solo starting at 1:07? i've noticed it in a few of jack's other solo's too. it sounds almost like a zipper or something...anybody help me out here?

  • @fromthenorthwest

I think that's some kind of Fuzz (like Hendrix's Fuzzface)

  • @fromthenorthwest If your talking about what I think you are, then its a digitech whammy pedal, he's using the octave effect to make his guitar go one (or could be two?) octaves up.. i think :D

  • @ssaabbuu ahh that makes sense, i was gonna say theres no way that sound is coming just from some wicked bending! he's got that same sound in his "black math" solo

  • @fromthenorthwest I think he is using the Whammy and Fuzz (probably big muff) and a very powerfull picking

  • @fromthenorthwest he uses the digitech whammy

  • great cover! jack never seems to disappoint me. hes a god. a god i say.

& what does he have written on his arm? i can make out what it says.

  • @jbcooljb it says obnoxious

  • fuck that they invented peppermint swirl

  • Bob Dylan can't sing either but he has a SIGNATURE voice that no one can imitate;D

  • @thegreatimpostor Yes, yes he can

  • Good Ol' Crunchy Jack and Meg -Pure and raw*

  • I love all their Bob Dylan covers..

  • How come every one complainting about music and "Bad Covers" think that they are the Original Artist...?

  • Also this is a Bad ass cover.

  • @mohawk1020, you'd better learn to respect other's opinion. period.

  • yeah your asshole and it shouldn't be too hard to find it considering your head's already up it

  • dylans version IS better.
