Oddly enough, I don't find the droids particularly challenging. They have an awful lot of health, to be sure, and that freeze ray is really annoying. But I have a system worked out, it involves Bastila spending the entire battle doing nothing but casting 'Disable Droid', and the rest of the party throwing grenades ;)

These droids are so tough I have a routine of grinding those respawning Kath Hounds for twelve minutes exactly before going in. I don't know why twelve, but that's how it is.

Hated the puzzle part because kept getting screwed over for choosing volcanic instead of Arboreal at life giving words. A combined effort of biology class and lack of English word knowledge made me face that damned droid at least 20 times. >_>
