  • In the pictures of the paintings... there is a painting of a scenery of a temple or traditional Japanese architecture... I did that exact same one in high school too!

  • @kichan Wow!

  • wow that girls so beatiful

  • I just got back from Japan. We went to Sendai/Tokyo for business, but we had a bit of time on the weekend to hit up the sites in Asakusa, Tokyo Tower, Harajuku, and Kamakura. How much I wish I could not play the super tourist and view things like this- semi annual real events and daily stuff alike! I need to learn Japanese!! You're so lucky ;) (Def not in the 'luck' sense, but 'blessed' sense)

  • @Zeluha Well, I have only been to Harajuku once myself! I do enjoy these school festivals etc. but most days I just go to the same places and do the same things, most of it not too exciting... It is rare now that I have those, "Oh wow, I'm living in Japan!" moments like I did in the early days. Also, I didn't know ANY Japanese when I first moved here, so don't let that stop you!

  • Ahhh.. i recognized the music of the movie "Ponyo" bei Studio Ghibli at about 2:20. So they we're showing this at the festival? great idea!!:) And they even danced to "marumo no okite".. just love this!

  • @EineGuteRuebe ha ha You are very observant!

  • wow! did somebody actually paint the anime girl at 0:20?!

  • @weirdzfully Yes, those were all student paintings!

  • I just subscribed. I hope to see more great videos!

  • This school festival are so cool. We dont have any of this in Portugal.

  • So, where as Yuki in her witch costume and Haruhi in her bunny suit? And most important, where was Miruku and the soba restaurant?

  • this makes me miss my school

its too bad we dont have festival in america

  • It's look funny and I love this video. Are you teacher in this school?

  • @5152189 Thanks! And yes, this is the school I work at.

  • OH! I remember when my class was a Haunted House!

I was in charge of slimming students faces with コン二ャク!!

Ahhhhhahaaha It was hanging from a stick!

    HAHA コン二ャク!! キャーー

  • Wow, so the school festival as same as the comics? Wow I envy you geofg. You have a cute kid, and living in Japan sounds very interesting. Keep posting the video please :)

  • i love the band with the kimono! kawaii~~

  • @aishahaleyes They were my favorite, too.

  • It looks like it's a lot of fun! The students seem very friendly and open to you! Unfortunately we don't have schoolfestivals like this were I come from. But I'm studying Japanese at the moment, so maybe one day I'll get the chance to experience such a festival as a teacher. Thank you for sharing this! =)

  • @MissYunaatje Yes, the students' enthusiasm always surprises me! Good luck with your Japanese studies!

  • i really loved this video you did great joob ,, i miss nina but still as always your videos are so refreshing :) please keep at at ,, if you don't mind me asking what kind of camera do you use ?? i would really want to get one

  • @123451234512345 Thanks for checking out the new channel! I use a Canon Eos 40D for still photos and a Kodak zi8 for the video.

  • I love this video! It's just the same as those I've seen in Japanese high school dramas!! Hahaha I thought those shows were just exaggerating, cause we don't have that in Singapore! And I love your view from condo video too! Very artistic! say hello to Nina!! :D:D

  • @supersupersharon ha ha Yeah, I was surprised when I first started working at a Japanese high school, too. They really are enthusiastic about school festivals and other events!

  • Este festival parese realmente divertido, los jovenes ademas de divertirse aprenden con ello.

  • hey this is cool, thanks..... missing nina but thats okay!

  • @steflondon88 Thanks for understanding!

  • =( I wish my high school was like that. They seem so accepting. If they had those activities at school nobody would join in cause it seems too 'childish'.

  • @Mypinkyrulez Yeah, I know what you mean. The students at my high school were "too cool" for events like these, too.

  • @geofinjapan Yeah, but right now things are picking up especially in college. So those who feel left out in high school no worries! University is much more inviting to these type of things. C=

  • @Mypinkyrulez Another good point. There's a niche for everyone in college. The people who were popular in high school just because they were bigger or stronger or more beautiful are no longer as special and the artists and eccentrics and bookworms have their chance to shine.

  • the dancing girls remind me of Nina's goofy, "i wanna pee" and sleepy dance.

    missing nina..):

    hugs for nina..

looking forward for more of ur videos..(:

  • @xiaoai91 ha ha Yeah, I had forgotten about the "I wanna pee" dance.

  • Great couple of vids to kick off new channel! Your last channel is not an easy act to follow but you have crazy talent and a good soul. It must feel good to display it.

  • @bizelivin Thanks, I appreciate that! I sort of hope this channel stays small. With Nina's channel, it had gotten to the point where I felt like I had to consistently put out interesting videos or people would be disappointed. This channel is just for playing around, so I won't put too much pressure on myself. But yeah, you're right, it is nice to know that a few people are watching.

  • the girl with glasses who made the slime is beauty, i think her face remind me of NINA's face.... :D

  • You captured the creativity and excitement of the school festival. The yukata'd girls' cover at the end of Whiteberry's 2000 cover of "Natsu Matsuri" was a bit natsukashii.

  • @languageandhumor ha ha Yeah, the yukata'd rockers were my favorite.

  • @geofinjapan I thought most Japanese student will dye their but I saw not so many here. Am I too much watch J-drama? not it's prohibited in ur school?

  • @AtazzzZ Absolutely no hair dying allowed at my school! Once they graduate, though, most of them dye their hair immediately.

  • Awesome video ! I'm always intrigued about Japanese school festivals (and japanese schools in general), as my high school days pretty much sucked and the people there look like they are having so much :D

Anyway it's great that you made this new channel and I'm looking forward to the random stuff you're going to post o/

  • @shinjohitsugaya Yeah, at my high school in the U.S. it was all about competition and individual achievement, and the shy, quiet kids like me were usually left out.

  • This is really cool! I wish that the schools in America and Italy had festivals like this. All the students working together to make great food and fantastic and thrilling events for everyone to enjoy is really neat to see.

Can't wait to see more of the world from your point of view! :D

  • @sasuke7naruto7 Yeah, we never had anything like this at my high school in America, either. It's pretty impressive what kids can do when they work together.

  • They're very creative. It's true what people say that schools in Japan really different. I'm excited to know more about Japan through your video. Your photography is beautiful and makes me impressed. You're very talented!

  • @nisadesu Thanks!

  • Hey geof, nice channel .

The student waving at you when you wanted a high-five was just so cute.

I thought the high-five thing was worldwide, do people in Japan have something else instead ?

  • I think the high five is slowly catching on here.

  • 2:51, AKB48 type shirt logos (:

  • @jyisbeefame Yeah, AKB is huge at my school (just like at any school in Japan).

  • @geofinjapan They are popular with me in America, as well ♥ ♥

  • Wow they look like they have so much fun, we don't have this in France, it's quite sad, because everyone is together and it's cool

  • @NetriAlex It's the same in America. You never see all the students working together happily to make events happen like this. It is definitely one of the nice things about Japan.

  • Thanks for sharing :-) really enjoyed it, especially the "food" part teehe (the dance part too!!! as I am also a dancer myself ^_^) You do have great eyes to capture the moments :-) Glad you started this channel, look forward to your next videos :-) take care!

  • @jodiebkk Thank you! I don't really have a theme for this channel, but I will continue to put up random stuff from time to time.

  • Your students are so adorable! The festival sounds like fun! :) Beautiful photography as usual, too :) I'm so glad you're still going to make videos!

  • @LaurenNIHON Thanks! I feel...exposed without Nina to hide behind, but this channel is just for fun. With Nina as the focus I always had an instant theme, whereas the videos here will probably be random, sporadic and not very popular... But, that's OK. Nina's channel had gotten a bit overwhelming, to be honest.

  • I had an otaku moment 19 seconds in! The anime lady on the carousel is Akanegasaki Sora from a popular visual novel, Ever 17: The Out of Infinity. I've played it, and it's got a ton of character depth and gorgeous visuals. The student who painted her is incredible--and you've got some talented artists at your high school!

  • @TwilightTsukasa I had no idea who it was, but I'm sure the student who painted it would be very happy to hear your compliment!

  • You still got that artistic touch, G.

  • @japaneseformorons Thanks, man. I feel kind of exposed without Nina's charm to hide behind, but I guess I'll find my niche.

  • Wow ! It's so much fun and creativity ! I guess that's why school festivals don't exist in France ^^ ! I'm glad you started a new channel. By the way, the food part wasn"t long enough... Ha ha ha ! :-)

  • @eleonoy Thanks! And, you're right, I should have showed more of the food. There were lots of different food stalls, actually, but I just forgot to record them!

  • Great footage! Japanese school festivals look like so much fun. I wish we did stuff like that back when I went to school as well, but since I live is Sweden, all I got was 30 minutes of christmas carols once a year! haha

I'm glad you started this new channel by the way, and I'm looking forward to your next video! Take care!

  • @loegdberg Yeah, we didn't have anything like this at my high school in the U.S. either. Thanks for checking out my channel!
