you should move to canada or any other country with universal health care, because i am sure anyone from a country with it would understand your poosition, because we never need to fear this happening. thats why we wont ever give it up. ets hope the usa will come around to the idea of universal health care to look after people like your mother. i wish she gets better.

Where does the US Government find the ethical arguments to charge its citizens for staying healthy. The fact that some one who is ill has to pay 900 dollars a month which is more than an average mortgage in Europe. Its disgusting.

Today i was watching the tv show "The Doctors" they were talking about health insurance. one of the host was arguing that the US has the highest health insurance payments and that france and canada don't have to pay for anything. The Doctors on the show were telling her that their quality of medicine wasn't as great as the US and that is the reason why we pay so much for health insurance. I suspect that those doctors get paid to deny patients

I feel for your mother and wanted to offer my condolences. $900? Wow, being Canadian isn't so bad...

P.S:It's the Canadian dollar, not pounds. And you pay 6 pounds (10 dollars U.S. currency) in Britain not Canada. We pay only for the medication that is beyond a certain limit. Medicare here (If you want absolute coverage) is a dollar a day per person for Blue Cross, and a bit more for other plans.

I have no idea how those hospital/prescription bills come out to be so much. It's ridiculous. I mean I live in Canada and I am in and out of the hospital also, and sometimes I wonder what my total bill would be if I lived in the US lol. But yeah, you have my sympathy, that really is a crazy story.

I so appreciate Michael Moore for making the movie 'Sicko'. He stressed compassion for all over 'socialized medicine'. But the only side that he didn't consider was how our food is making us sick. That would be a whole other movie. I learned that for two to three million years, man was a Raw Foodist. We were not meant to eat genetically modified, pesticide filled fruits and vegetables and all the processed food that is made out of them.

I'm sorry to hear your story. You're right. I have good medical insurance from my job and I don't even let my doctor run simple tests on me because it costs ME too much. My doctor would look at the results of the test and tell me that I needed to eat better, but in my state he is not even allowed to tell me what to eat because he can lose his medical license if he did. So after I figured out that I was pre-diabetic, I began to research what I should eat.

I live in Canada and I never waited longer than 1 hour in hospital in my life except one time when I was in emergency room for having stomachache which wasn't serious and the time was midnight so not lot of doctors worked during the time...It never happened to me but how long you have to wait depends on how fatal condition's are not how much money you have so I think it's fair for everyone..

and unlike US media stated, I am satisfied with doctors...

If you can imagine not being able to get a hold of your doctor when you are sick at night, or on the weekend (clinics here are difficult to get into) if the stomachache is something bad, I mean not just a normal stomachache, maybe stones or something else related like appendicitis, then yep, I would totally go to emerg...
