I understand it isn't necessary to do that . They won't freeze if they are up to charge . Throw a charge into it once or twice over the winter and disconnect one lead . Should be good to go in the spring. My Cocours battery is a bitch . Too easy to drop screws into the abyss, so I have hooked up the battery tender and leave it . I plug it in every so often to charge her up . Should be ready to rumble in the spring ...should be .

i dont have a battery tender yet ...... maybe next year .
