  • love Buffett music, I have satellite radio and though I do channel surf on it, my usual haunt is Margaritaville on XM

  • This reminds me of when I was a little kid, when my dad grilled hamburgers in the summertime while blasting Jimmy Buffett from his old radio, and that when I rode my bike a little ways down the street I could still faintly hear the music....

    I miss those days.

  • @Rixterkat haha its okay it was more just me being retarted that night

  • We played this song at my brother-in-law's funeral among many other songs. He use to sing this one on his acoustic guitar. Miss you lots, Bob. <3

  • This is easily one of the best songs ever, in my opinion.

  • i justt crossed seeing Paul Mccartney off my bucket list. This guys next. I'LL FIND YOU JIMMY!!!

  • I had a pencil thin mustache...sigh, no more. All my friends made fun of me.

  • @CaeserOct Don't listen to em dude. Look at Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Vito Corleone, etc. The pencil thin mustache is just class.

  • My father passed away last year in September. This was our song. We would have danced to it at my wedding, the way he used to have me stand on his feet while we used to dance around the living room to it. I just listen to it over and over on days when I need him, and today is one of those days. I love you daddy, miss you every single day. It still hurts just the same.

  • @MrsHansen728 Hang in there my friend, and always dance with your dad in your memories. My mom passed away last year, and we are still singing Buffett together.

  • @MrsHansen728

I cried when I read this, literally. Made me remember dancing on my daddy's feet when I was little and this song.....I also do the rewind over and over of special songs when I need them. You have a friend here Mrs. Hanson!!!!

A great big old hug for you!!!!

  • @Kimberlycurd

I came here to listen today, 4 days from the one year anniversary of his death. Thank you for your comment. Hugs to you too! So glad someone else remembers this as a very special song.

  • seeing him tuesday in atlanta! can't wait!

  • i just lolololololol and went lololololololol!

  • My mom used to listen to this all the time along with 'Come Monday' on her record player back in '76. I would've been about 7-8 years old. Definitely brings back the memories.

  • lolololololol

  • Went and saw him with his "first" broken leg. No stage decorations, no coral reefer band, no hype. Just Jimmy and an extra barstool for his broken leg. No matter how much things change, they all stay the same. Just emailed my niece "We are the People our Parents warned us about". Well, she asked me for advice?!

  • pirates in arizona !!!!

  • was this video filmed in key west??

  • @23usmc23 Yep

  • This song always makes me think of Allice's Restaurant.

  • love it ... reminds me of the music to Bugsy Malone!

  • One of my favorites to listen to and play! I had a blast working at Margaritaville in New Orleans for 5 years! Miss you Bret, Tyra and Sheila! Happy Mardi Gras! How about them Saints! Maybe picking up soon? I'd love to come back! Have a great day!

  • 1 Year before I was born..... Damn, I was born 20 years too late:(

  • I loved it when he had that great beach blond hair!

  • This melody of this songs ALWAYS makes me think of the overworld theme to Super Mario Bros. 2.

  • Mario Perez passed away in 1974. Houston, Texas Kayo Gas and Oil Company, are they still around? "Kayo", Magic+ ghost town "Kayo", Tennessee.

Since the song was made in 1973 it could explain why you think that way.

Mario willed me his Dodge Polara, the carbarator would hold open sticking the exellerator to the floor. lol. Maybe we should turn away from intellectual property theft of Nipponease in Singapore after Palapa program and let go of silly games.

    com Bali

  • It's a parody on country music of the early 70's. Like the song, "Let's get drunk and Sc%%%".

  • @wildebeest3

no it's not. this song came out before lets get drunk. know ur buffet.

  • @AdirondackMatt

    LMAO !!!!!! good one

  • I went deep sea fishin for the first time yesterday and was introduced to jimmy buffet....good shit for fishin and drinking and watching dolphins jump through the wake!

  • I grew up think Jimmy Buffett was the only singer there was! Now my kids are being raised on him.

  • my kidos are 28 and 30......... same here

  • @johnkircher1957 I had my kiddos doing that "fins" thing when they were 3 and 5!

  • @newbiepeanut I love that. Same with me. I'm a twenty one year old who was raised on Jimmy Buffett, and the Beatles. With smaller portions of everything in between.

  • Poor Kids

  • @newbiepeanut Maybe they will become the future Jack (jane ) Johnsons.

  • I was raised on jimmy buffett :) FINS UP!!!

  • me two jimmy buffet christmas ugh lol love it

  • parrot heads rule the world!!!

  • I Grew a pencil thin moustache cause of this song lol

  • My dad lived in Coconut Grove in the early 70's. It is really too bad that all most people know of Jimmy Buffett is Margaritaville. He is really a talented songwriter

  • Ain't that the truth. Whenever I tell ppl I listen to Buffett all they ever know is Cheeseburger In Paradise...

  • So true. Though, such is the case with all great musicians; you get the mindless mainstreamers, but you also get the die-hards.

This has always been my favorite Buffet song, though Fruitcakes is always nice, too

  • I wish I had a pencil thin mustache.. and I could solve some mysteries too !

  • POST SCRIPT: The Resteraunt scene was shot at Louies Backyard..... "....think I'll stumble next door to the bar,(yard)....., The old STRAND Theater was thrown in too. It's truely sad that the vast majority of people who live in Key West today are the filthy rich that haven't a clue as to how it used to be. There are, however, true hard line Conch's still hangin' to this day...., God Bless Em'.

  • my great fortune to have been there . james still had a head of hair. the building behind the chopper was the way Sloppy Joes , "used to be"....., and the bikini-clad babe is coppin' her rays at Atlantic Shores,....."Bathing Attire Optional"...Hotel.

  • Great song. I used to love seeing him live. Just a Circus show now. All Nascar fans and shit. ha ha

  • i luv this song

  • ie been a fan from 1974, wont forget when i heard him first, on a 8track tape in ill. combineing beans .man its been a ride

  • wolfie121,

I was pretty young in 1974, but grew up in ILL, weeding soy bean fields from 1979-1984 for summer spending money. Unfortunately I didn't become a Parrot Head until I was in College in 1988. Now I go to see him live whenever I can. Buffett will change your life if you let him :)

  • I know a lot of chicks with pencil thin moustaches!

  • Biker needs an electric start! Not a Charlie Horse!

  • i want a two-toned ricky ricardo jacket of my own!

  • But I will hoist a glass to him at Capt Tony's in KW in August like I do every year!

  • This is when Jimmy was still in touch.. I was in the USN stationed in KW 71-72, and he was just starting.. The first 5 LP's were his best. It was all down hill after that.

  • that's your opinion...

I really like the FRUITCAKES cd

and how about Off to See the Lizard?

Buffett is a good guy all around...

  • It is my opinion..An I'm stickin' to it!! I followed him from 73 on.. I have to be one of the original parrotheads .. Many rum stains on my "A1A" LP cover!!!! But you are correct about some of his later stuff. I loved 'Banana Wind'(Happily Ever-Now And Then) and I thought 'Floridays' was good.. I just think the first 5-6 LP's were his peak time. The rest was mostly the same stuff recycled.. (And he pissed me off when he edeged Fingers Tayor out of the group!!)

  • No doubt after Fingers was kicked out the live shows have really suffered. "Pirate at 40" without the harmonica just ain't right. I cringed the first time I heard "Pirate" live without Fingers and the saxophone replaced the harmonica.

  • I do agree his best work was in the 70s. But he did have a pretty good run in the mid-90s with "Fruitcakes", "Barometer Soup" and "Banana Wind". His albums since then have been hit and miss although "Take The Weather With You" is pretty solid. His shows have gotten a little spotty as well. Too many people that no only 3 songs and get so wasted that no one around them can enjoy the show. Fat chick at the show last year fell on me & my crew numerous time last year. Broke my lawn chair too.

  • lol, gotta love those fat chicks!!

  • LOL

  • I agree. White Sport coat, A1A were great. His 90s stuff up to Banana were good, but not as good as his earlier stuff. Barometer was the best of his 90s releases. Have seen Buffett since his first album came out, over 50 times, all over the country. His post-90s stuff is weak and getting weaker. He is becoming a caricature of his former self and the average throw-up-on-your-shoes-drank-too-much-before-the-show parrothead. Snap out of it Jimmy. Go off-island for a bit. Get back to your roots.

  • i saw him in concert in 07, it was the greatest experience in my life, if you ever get a chance go it will be worth the money.

  • Yeah, Brylcreem...a little dab'll do ya

Oh, I can do some cruising too!

  • It's been a long time since "only jazz musicians were smoking marijuana"!

  • I remember trying to figure out what he was sayin, then I saw him talking about the song. "I remember being buck toothed and skinny, writing fan letters to Sky's neice Penny" AhHa! Sky King and his neice Penny!

  • I sure miss the Jimmy from this era. I don't quite get the corporate monster/mogul of today. I stoppped buying his albums at "Margaritaville".

  • A1A was his best

  • My favorite too

  • Wow that was Great!! Love the bucked tooth and skinny guy blowing off steam after he can't get his bike started, high dives for 10 seconds, doesn't have enough cash for the call girl...very funny!!

  • So cool and laid back ... Jimmy has been around so long ... and still today he comes up with musical gems like this sweetie from 1973.

  • jimmy buffett> Jim croce what a bill that would have if it happened? they look like each other

  • They were very close friends, along with Cheech Marin.

  • Poor guy can't get laid to save his life!!!!(I remember that feeling,LOL)!

  • ...rubbing on the living room floor!!!

  • flat top, dirty bop, copping a feel :)

  • The biker needs an electric start not a charlie horse..lol

  • moustache

  • another masterpiece parrothead 4 life

  • I've got a Caribbean soul I can barely control...

  • Buffet's music reminds me so much of the Florida keys. His music would be great to float... or sink to.

  • haha

  • lol very true

  • thank you..that was sweet!

  • going to sneak this in at moms funeral (78)..she LOVED this song....; ) here to you mother!!

  • If your mother loved this, she had an ear for great music. Don't sneak it in, celebrate her life by playing it full blast!! God bless your mom.

  • Ya little fuck, that's some BACKUP SINGERS. Jimmy has never sounded like that, except maybe in Why Don't We Get Drunk.

  • i have a pencil thin mustache,and people(my friends)laugh at me....its cool

  • Welcome back to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival in the year of our lord 2008 kimboat and ricky ricardo and fred mertz jeans and parrotheads and african greys and squaw king penciled in moustache on some political ad's face sign. Aunt Marguerite and willow's passage.

  • I'm old, no underwear, no church, and no haircut"s. and i am just fine with that!!!

  • Classic. Jimmy at his finest.

  • Great fun song! Bubba at his best!!!!
