  • The English version of the musical didn't work out really well lol

  • about the musical: the musical is based on the movie "The Fearless Vampire Killers" by roman polanski (btw native german speaker). He did not work out "total eclipse" for bonny tylor in the 1980s. But the german musical he did and so the lyrics are not tarnslated by word but by sence. The original musical was german!!!! (presented 1997 in vienna) and NOT english (2002) !!!! the english version has so many changes that it can also be seen as own show. independent from the orininal.

  • @TheGooglhupf Roman Polanski is a native german speaker!!! Very, very good joke :P

  • How I wished there was a real OB cast CD. The demo singers are not really my taste and Steve is better in german.

  • much better in german, lyrics are better...sich verlieren heisst sich befreien...the english lyrics have no sense...I'll drag you down in my shadows ...thats what it says in german.

  • I saw this play 6 times while I lived in Stuttgart - one of my favorites

  • The German version is quite better....

there also Steve Barton is singing...but...it's better

  • i love this song :) its my feelings in this song...

  • I prefer the German version... and this relates to all songs of this musical...

  • German?

    Ok, What ever!

    Also, Ich steh auf Vampire!

Seit Rüdiger und Anna von Schlotterstein!

  • Cool! Abgefahrener Song/ Musical!

    I`m like Vampires! Ever!

  • @Vampirlady1665 write it in german if you don't understand english grammar^^

  • HAHAHHAHA

  • I like both versions ! Dance of the Vampires is just WOW. It doesn't matter in wich language.

  • will people stop saying the german is better. it's the same Krolock damn it...

  • Nice version....but the German one is a lot better, especially Vienna 1997 or Stuttgart 2010.

  • I must say his original voice His voice has so much depth. It hard to explain, sth in his voice is so fascinating. Steve is the one and only count of Krolock, noone can change this. I will always love u your still in my heart

  • His voice sounded better in German... it is too low and too quiet (in the beginning)Sarah would have found it difficult to fall in love with this voice.... and the woman sounds like 40, Sarah is hardly 18.

But the the song is beautiful Though i preffer the "Sich verliern heißt sich befrein

du wirst dich in mir erkennen" Tis is the essence of Krolock, he symbolizes freedom and loss of control over your life. But this is a matter of translation.

  • I really like this song. Where can I download the song (this version)?

  • I really like this song. Where can I download the song?

  • Steve! Wish you have a good time in the Heaven...

  • Do any of these have the SCENE too?!

  • i LOVE STEVE BARTON <3 he is the greatest singer i´ve ever heard!!

the world lost a wounderful artist . .. . RIP -you will be alive in the soul of your songs

  • Steve war wirklich unglaublich!!!!

Zwar gefällt mir die deutsche version weit aus besser, aber die englische ist auch nicht schlecht ;)

  • I honestly prefer the english lyrics, they are more deep and beautiful :)

  • He was amazing in both language, german and english, he is perfect

  • @musicals018054444 His voice kinda scared me the first time, I admit. But that's exactly what the role needs, right? A dark, scary voice, that kinda makes u shudder, then u get used to it :P

I feel so bad he died!

  • @emlodik

i know that this is steve barton, but i prefer his german version of total eclipse of the heart

  • this is a good song, but i prefer the austrian version with steve barton

he was an amazing singer and an amazing actor

    Steve we miss you <3

  • @angewomonxP This is still Steve Barton!!!! :-P

  • *konnte

  • Steve Barton`s Stimme könnte Menschen bewegen, und tut das selbst noch nach seinem Tot! Es ist ein verdammt harter Schlag so einen wunderbaren Menschen und Sänger zu verlieren!!

    Ruhe in Frieden, Steve. ♥

  • This is the best English language version of this song I've heard so far.

  • Mahn Turtilie! Das ist doch Steve Barton, der war auch in den deutschen Versionen der Held ;)

  • I love to listen to Steve Barton singing and I also love to listen to Jans Peter Janssen with the Dutch version that was in Antwerp, Belgium. I could not get the song out of my head for weeks and now months.

  • Sarah sound like a woman in her 40s... she's supposed to be a young girl on the brink of becoming a woman! And I prefer Steve to sing in German

  • i like Steve´s voice, but I really don´t like her voice. she sings to deep and rude I think .. :)

  • Actually- This is Michael Crawford if i am not mistaken as this is the Original Broadway Cast recording.

  • @maniboi1027 Definitely not Crawford, likely Barton. I wasn't aware there was in OCR of this, the show was such a disaster.

  • @audiesgirl Yes, it's Barton.

  • @maniboi1027 As one of Michael Crawford biggest fans, no, that's not him. That's Steve Barton. It's impossible not to hear.

  • Dutch Version is better ;D

  • @Peadarisback Yeah Borchert is the new Krolock in Vienna, he is very good, but not as good as Steve Barton...

  • the belgium version is better :P

Dans der vampieren- totale duisternis :P

    Listen, and hear xD

  • @elliemoetjellie

the woman is better, but the belgium krolock really sucks

spijtig dat ie zo slecht is

  • aww man I miss Steve Barton so much =(

  • I don't like this version as much as german, it rocks 4eva!

  • The lyrics are much better than the German version... at least much more romantic... *sigh* ;)

  • the german version is much better...

    but this one is great,too!

  • I wish I could sing so I can be on broadway and famous and then become a star of hollywood!!

  • Wait...okay, this might make me sound ignorant, but I thought this was a Bonnie Tyler song...which came first? lol

  • @broadwaylove52 Bonnie Tyler's version came first. Jim Steinman later recycled the song for "Dance of the Vampires."

  • @emlodik But the song was written by steinamn originally so it really doesn't matter

  • ohhh steve! *tears*

  • Sounds great!^^

But the voice of the women somehow sounds too grown up since her character Sarah is supposed to be 17^^

  • Thank you, thank you, thank you, I love this musical and I love Steve Barton too. He´s my favorite singer...thank you so much for the record...

I don't like so much the woman that sing with him, but I love to hear anything new of him...

  • are you serious? You know that he is dead since years, right?

But yeah, if it was possible, that would be great :) Love him

  • Of course that I'm serious, I've never joke with what I love. But, you're right I must explain myself. when I said that I love to hear something new about him means that I've didn't hear that record before.

And certanly I know he's dead since 2001, but I rather like not to think about it. I've like to remember him as he was...in his magnificent performances!

  • Who is the woman that sings this? And i mean the actress not the character. I know the character is Sarah.

  • I believe it is Elaine Caswell singing as Sarah.

  • @rayna181 Sarah is sung by Elaine Caswell

    ;D

  • such einfach nach "totale finsternis", dann solltest du fündig werden...

  • na klar einfach eingeben :>

    tanz der vampire-totale finsternis

spuckt er gleich aus live und studio

  • we ♥ you steve

we lost an amazing singer and personality :'(

    R.I.P.

  • I love Steve Barton's voice so much. Tragic he died.

I absolutely love this recording! But who is the woman singing?

  • @EratosDaughter the girl, Sarah is sung by Elaine Caswell

  • Polish Krolock is the best.

  • this is the german main vampire? he always makes "turn around" long.

    well, if it is, AWSUME!!!

  • Yep it is

  • Is this really the German Krolock?! ö.Ö

    But this singer sounds strange....

    :D

  • The male is the orginal Krolock Steve Barton

  • Eww... I'm sorry, but the german version is better... I do not like "Krolocks" voice...

I prefer the german version :D

  • That's the general opinion, yes, but this version of the song is actually very interesting, because-- get this-- it's sung by the German Krolock (Steve Barton) in English! So this singer IS the German singer, singing in English. (His most famous role is actually an English one-- Raoul in the original Phantom of the Opera!)

    Pretty odd, huh?

  • @thesoundofmusicality I guess Turtilie thinks one of the actual Krolocks is better (Jan Amman, Kevin Tarte, Thomas Borchert, etc.) and hasn't seen anything from Steve Barton since he died and only a small part of Dance of the Vampire fans have seen Barton live

  • @thesoundofmusicality

he isn´t german, he is from the usa but he sings akcentless. He was amazing

  • @thesoundofmusicality he sounds great, in english and in german :) rip steve, you was one of the best musical singers.. <3

  • @thesoundofmusicality No no nooo! He is American, read the Wikipedia! D: of course he sounds better in German! But he's American, so odd, no? O.O He learned German himself! But this one is very deep and scary. Plus it's understandable, although I have already memorized the lines to the song where I practically know those German words. However, I totally heart Steve Barton insanely, so it doesn't matter how he sounds o.O

  • @thesoundofmusicality

I know the post ist old, but we've got many singers for Krolock. May the user meant that?

Steve Barton was just the first singer. Now we've got e.g. Jan Ammann or Kevin Tarte or Florian Soyka :)

And i think that Steve Barton sounds different in english hmmm....

  • @thesoundofmusicality Shut. Up. SERIOUSLY!?

  • @thesoundofmusicality I think you can clearly HEAR that it is Steve ;D

  • ... It is the same person. But for some reason the female is over powering him. Check out any other song then this one and you will see what I am talking about.

  • Turtilie, you just put a GIGANTIC foot in your mouth! LOL.

  • @Turtilie You `re right...But Bonnie Tylers "Total eclipse of the heart" is really great...

  • @Turtilie or the hungarian.. :)

  • @Turtilie

I prefer the Hungarian version. It's much more beautiful and the lyrics have a higher quality.

  • @Turtilie You're strange - I heard just the first 'Turn around' and knew immediately that this is Steve by his voice. And he's amazing, no matter if it's German or English!!^^ *loves Steve, RIP* ;(

  • @Turtilie eindeutig, ja :D

  • @Turtilie This is the original song.. The germans should be sued for copywrite infringement!

  • @gordon020958

Yeah.. let's sue the germans... Idiot :P

The song was originally written by Jim Steinman, who ALSO used the music for Tanz der Vampire. He is fully entitled to use his own music. So please know your facts the next time you try to spell 'Copyright infringement' :P

  • @gordon020958 oh fuck you guy. As soemone explained, Steinmann made out of the song what he wanted cause he wrote it. On another note, it was America that managed to bastardize one of the greatest musicals that ever played on european stage by turning it into a campy gay vampire comedy, that Polanski and most people involved with the original production hated. So yeah, if someone deserves to be sued for "raping" something good, it`s the broadway director for this shit.

  • I LOVE IT

    the english version is adorable!!!

i just knew the german one which is by the way more then good (^^) but this is as good as the german version...

i love you for putting this on youtube *laughs*

    greetings from germany xD

  • where did you find this??? :D
